We had the geeSearch installed and working fine. We then installed another child theme and search stopped working completely.
WP search did not return any results at all.
Disabling geeSearch plugin got the WP search working again but re-activating geeSearch breaks it again.
Any idea how to troublesjoot this issue?
Many thanks,
Sarah

Hi,
Thanks for this great plugin. Works best & using it after trying several others
I want to exclude some of the pages — such as Terms, Policy, Contact & few more from search results.
Especially the ones I’ve set to NOINDEX under WP-SEO.
Is there any way to specify those pages or can this plugin detect whether pages are set for NOINDEX, so not to include them?
Let me know
Thanks
At first I was confused because couldn’t find the way to insert form search into site, no widget, no shortcode, no php string… but then I found this in FAQ:
How do I install it in certain page using it as a widget?
geeSearch Plus plugin works behind the scenes by optimizing and changing the default WordPress search query. If you would like to have a search box on a sidebar or as a widget, just use the WordPress default search widget and geeSearch plus will do the hard work!
Now I got a question – what is the reason for this plugin if it doesn’t have search form where user can set his(her) own criteria for search?
By settings it looks very nice plugin, if you will add front end search form it could be a best one so far. ??
Feature Reqs: To be able to autocorrect search terms… so if someone searches for “u” the plugin can autocorrect it to “you” by giving us a place where we can manually link the terms.
Also to be able to link plural forms of words to their singular forms… so if someone searches for “dogs” it would be the same as searching for “dog”
Hopefully you can add these things without making the plugin too heavy like Relevanssi.
Can someone fix the issue in geeSearch where different results will be pulled up for the same search term with the only difference being a space at the end of the term?
If I search for “example” the results will be different than if I search for “example “
Since the installation of GeeSearch plus, I’m can’t see more than 2 pages of results. The “older entries” is all that shows on page 2 of the results and “newer entries” never shows. The “older entries” link on page 2 just links to itself. Overall it behaves as if this was still the first page of results. If I change the page number in the URL from https://everydayloveart.com/blog/page/2/?s=+love&Submit=Go to https://everydayloveart.com/blog/page/3/?s=+love&Submit=Go I can see that there are definitely more results. Any thoughts on how to fix?

I’d like to configure the plugin to search in order of content priority by Title, Tags and then the Text. How would I go about configuring this?

Is there any way I can configure it so that empty terms still show up in results? I changed ‘hide_empty’ on line 359 of gsearch-plus/inc/class-search-plus.php to true but it still doesn’t show up, and I’m concerned it’s not geeSearch but WordPress itself that’s filtering them out….
Hi, our site relies on some search page filter sorting, such as this when you search for APPLES:
https://www.domain.com/?orderby=meta_value&meta_key=sales_count&order=DESC&s=APPLES
However, when geeSearch is enabled, this functionality no longer works.
once it is disabled, it works again.
I’m suspecting that geeSearch modifies or confligs with the native /?s= string? Is there a way to avoid this?

Thanks for this great plugin!
I have one issue: if I search for a term, all kinds of words are shown which contain the term, for example if I search “round” I also get results for “background” – but I want only results with the word “round”. Is that possible in any way?
Hi,
Since there are talks of a premium version of geeSearch Plus, might I make a few feature suggestions:
– Search log: logging what the users search for (and an option to exclude searches by admins from the search log would be great too)
– Highlighting through PHP, instead of through JavaScript (cause, let’s face it, the JavaScript highlighting is a hack, rather that a solution)
Great plug-in by the way!
Hi , I like the GeeSearch plugin, but my site shows posts as
products, an ecommerce site. I want to stop Geesearch from returning
pages, like ‘contact us’ or ‘home’ as they mess up my product grids.
I had this overcome with the regular WP-search by adding to the
function.php file the following , but your script now ignores this,
‘function SearchFilter($query) {
if ($query->is_search) {
$query->set(‘post_type’,’product’);
}
return $query;
}
add_filter(‘pre_get_posts’,’SearchFilter’);’
thank you
Hi,
Can this plugin be used to search captions in images on pages?
Thanks,
Greg
WordPress switched their search results to Relevance which killed me because I’m a news site. So, I decided to try your Plugin to see if I could override the results.
It seems to be working except for one thing. No matter what I search for I only get 10 results. The paging menu at the bottom of the results isn’t displayed.
My site has 12,000+ posts so there would almost always be multiple pages of results. Thanks!

First of all, thank you for such a fantastic, simple, functional and clean plugin!
Have a little feature request. Could you include custom post type names (and even custom taxonomy names) in what is searched?
E.g. I have CPT called “pamphlets” which then contains various pamphlets as posts. Someone may search for “pamphlet on divorce”, and even though there is such a pamphlet, it won’t find it because the word “pamphlet” is not stored in the post etc…
It would be nice if this plugin could show results sorted by DATE instead of by relevance… this seems like a pretty basic thing that any search result options should have.
Hi,
We have a title, for example
Galaxy Note 3 Metal
In that post, there is a custom field called “variations2”
In that field, the value is:
blue, light blue, Vert, purple, pink, noir, red, white
Now, when i search for all of them together
blue, light blue, Vert, purple, pink, noir, red, white
, i do get a result and the result is showing that one case.
Then, let’s say i only search for “Vert”, i also get that case, correctly.
But, when i search Metal Vert, or Note 3 Vert, or Galaxy Note 3 Vert, none of that work.
It seems the title has trouble to work with custom fields? Is there a to smoothen out the combination issue, if it exists.
Thanks.
Hi luistinygod, it’s me again.
Please see if you can reproduce this bug i’m getting:
Create a post with a title
iface phone case galaxy s4
Create another post with title
Galaxy S4 iFace Revolution case
Then, in your plugin settings, add the following stop words:
case, phone
Then, search for the phrase
iface phone case galaxy s4
What you’ll notice:
Stop words seems to work because it removed “case” and “phone” from the search.
Result: It will only show ONE post at first. Then, without doing anything else, just hit your search button again.
Results: Both post shows.
So in short, i have 10 iface related posts, but they only show up in the search better if i hit search two times in a row when stop words are in play.
Let me know if you’re also getting that.
Thanks.
I’m curious about one thing. Our site has about 8 “iFace” cases for Galaxy S4.
So when you search
iface galaxy s4
you get all 8 results.
But when you search
iface phone case galaxy s4
it only returns one result, which happen to have “phone” in the title, so I can see why.
But most importantly, why not the other 8 results, since all of them have “iface” and “galaxy s4” clearly in the title?
Because of this the searches are a bit too specific and cannot cater for a broader audience who each uses different terms to search things, but essentially includes both important parts which is “iface” and “galaxy s4”
Is there any way you can improve on the above scenario as I really like your search plugin and do not want to change to another.
Thanks
I click one post to entry one single post page, then search something, WordPress SEO plugin reports a error: “..\wp-content\plugins\wordpress-seo\frontend\class-frontend.php on line 406”. If I disable gSearch plus and use WP search, no error.
Please check it.
I have noticed another inconsistency with search results.
We have a post “Nexus 4 Big City”
I copy and paste Big City into the search frield, hit search.
Nothing.
I then type Big City out with the keyboard, hit search.
Results found.
There are no extra spaces nothing. The search term is copied from email, and pasted on to the site and it wont work unless you type it out.
Just one last thing, is it intended to put dashes in quoted searches?
For example “Big City” will yield \”big city\” so if you want to add to that keyword, it wont work or just make it \\\”big city\\\” etc.
Thanks
I’m using the HTML5-Boilerplate technique to load jQuery via Google CDN with fallback to local files. The following code is in my footer.php

But doing this, breaks the plugin. The browser will not load the full site. It stops and hangs right there. If I remove the CDN loading and use the fallback, the plugin works fine.
Is this an issue you are able to reproduce?
Kind regards
Alex
Hi,
The searched worked perfectly, and I can’t remember if i updated or not but the “no results” shows up.
I search a custom field, or just a word “apple” and it will show up empty even if i am 100% sure there is a post called “apple”.
I then search the word apple in the wordpress Post section, and find the results. Right after that, I am able to search and find apple via the regular site search.
I am not sure if this is only me or a bug.
This seems to work fine when searching for one word but not with more? For example if I search for the term ‘red’ or the term ‘book’, it will bring up the search result fine…but if I search for red book” it doesn’t bring up anything, even though both terms are in the same post?
When searching for something that gives a larger result set, PHP sends an “Fatal error: Allowed memory size of xxxxxx bytes exhausted”
This error does not occur when the plug-in is disabled.
This is on a blog with some 30 000+ posts, but since standard search can manage this volume, gSearch should be possible to fix as well.
