Hi,
I know it’s better to have other than default permalink structure, but in a specific site it should be like that. I use your great plugin in other sites but in this site with default permalink structure I can’t find a working sitemap.
In the plugin’s setting page it points to mydomain.com/sitemap.xml as the sitemap, but this url leads to 404 page.
I tried to go domain.com/?xml_sitemap=1
There I see a sitemap index generated by your plugin but then for example one of the links leads to domain.com/index.php?xml_sitemap=params=post-sitemap
and inside it there is the url of homepage and only one url that leads to
domain.com/index.php?xml_sitemap=params=main;html=true
and clicking it gets me to the same page.
Meaning – there are no posts in the sitemap index.
The same with pages.

Is it possible to use default permalink structure and a working well sitemap with your plugin?

I have enjoyed this plugin with no problems. But recently I added a AI scrapper robots.txt. plugin and after some troubleshooting realized that if I activate your plugins “Add sitemap URL to the virtual robots.txt file”-function, it blocks out the function of the AI scrapper blocker plugin.

So I unchecked it and everything seems fine.

But now my robots.txt links wp-sitemap.xml instead of sitemap.xml. And the wp-sitemap.xml appears to be generated by your plugin, but is blank. Is there anything I can do to fix this without having to stop using the AI scrapper blocker?

On the website I’m working on, every sitemap url are available with and without a trailing slash. Eg. : https://www.beauxarts.com/sitemap.xml and https://www.beauxarts.com/sitemap.xml/ both works.
I would like to disable the url with a trailing slash. Is it possible with your plugin ?

Google is reporting an error in search console with “/wp-content/plugins/google-sitemap-generator/sitemap.xsl”

The error is: Duplicate without user-selected canonical

Hi, There are 2 issues after generated the sitemap with “XML Sitemap Generator for Google” with WPML.
The 1st issue in default lang, it will generated double page/post url in the sitemap, e.g.

I posted the below blog a few days ago, and it’s not showing up in the sitemap. It’s published, public and has the option checked to allow search engines to show this content in the search results. I’ve reviewed the options in the plugin, deactivated, uninstalled and reinstalled and reactivated. I’ve unset and reset some of the options, but it all looks good to me. I’ve also cleared the site cache.

The sitemap was generated dynamically by ?XML Sitemap Generator for Google?by?Auctollo that now I uninstalled but for some reason it keeps showing up in the URL. And yes, I already purged my WordPress cache and no, i don’t use any external cache (Cpanel or CDN)

If your WordPress site is installed in a subdirectory, such as example.com/blog/, your sitemap will be generated at example.com/blog/sitemap.xml by default. However, if you want to move your sitemap to example.com/sitemap.xml, you can do so by entering “https://example.com/blog/” in the “Override the base URL of the sitemap” field on the plugin settings page.

Since my WordPress in in https://www.sinapsi.org/wordpress/

and I want to move the sitemap to https://www.sinapsi.org/

I should enter “https://www.sinapsi.org/” in the “Override the base URL of the sitemap” field on the plugin settings page and not https://www.sinapsi.org/wordpress/ as written in the FAQ.

Moreover I read the rewrite rule to add to .htaccess file and again I am puzzled since I should use the root address so I don’t understand what should I write instead of “/your-blogdir/”

If I check with Google Search Console it says: the URL is not indexed

As you can see when google goes to get the sitemap it has no idea what type it is and google is not able to fetch the sitemap. Any ideas?? From someone out in cyberland

Hi, I’ve been testing this plugin but it has some compatibility issues with WPML and i decided to uninstall it. Here comes the issue where the sitemap.xml file is not accessible due to the plugin redirecting the user to the page /wp-sitemap.xml. This still happens after the plugin has been uninstalled. I have no cache, I’ve reset de permalinks. The only hypothesis I have is that the plugin must have modified the BBDD or some sort of file to create this redirection.

I’ve tried to re-install the plugin to see if there’s some ‘safe uninstall’ button or something, but it doesn’t seem to be the case.

How do I restore the original sitemap.xml file?

Hi, I have created new custom post type named portfolios for my website and there are new pages in that. Now my sitemap generated from Yoast is showing portfolios post type in it but not the new pages that I am creating under that. Because of this I am getting this error in the search console:

Missing XML tag

1 instance

This required tag is missing. Please add it and resubmit.

How Can I solve this issue?

I have a very strange problem. The sitemap file only generates lines for posts, but doesn’t do it for pages. There are 3000 pages on the site and the plugin generates page-sitemap.xml and page-sitemap2.xml strings, but they are empty. That is, when you click on them, it redirects to the main page of the site. And this happens only with the generation of the sitemap for pages. Tried to look for a conflict with other plugins – did not help. Even if you disable all plugins, the problem remains. I do not know what to do. Looked for redirects in htaccess, but nothing found. At the same time in the GSC file is processed, but only posts are visible, which are many times less than pages. What can it be?

I’m getting no links in my sitemaps, and not sure where to go from here. In the current sitemap, I have links to:

Opening the second link, which I assume is for the posts, gets me another file with the following link:

• Uninstall/reinstall
• twiddling all the sitemap content off/on in different combinations.
• changed Links per page to 10000 (site will eventually have more post than this)
• Turned off/on/off Post priority (currently off)
• Removing posts
• Adding new posts after reinstalling

Kind of at a loss where to go next. Currently running:

• Plugin: WP Mail SMTP v4.1.1
• Plugin: WPForms Lite v1.9.0.4

First of all, thanks for this awesome plugin. I am using your plugin on almost all of my websites.

I want to change post-sitemap name, I know we can change base sitemap name from setting. But I want to change post-sitemap.xml, post-sitemap1.xml, post-sitemap-2.xml to custom names like hello-sitemap.xml, hello-sitemap1.xml, hello-sitemap2.xml, basically want to replace “post” word with custom word on posts sitemap url’s.

The number of urls is set to 1000, and If I change it , it is not getting saved. Even after saves, it still is the same.

I installed the plugin and add https://example.com/sitemap.xml to the search console.

/post-sitemap.xml was success, but /sitemap-misc.xml got an error.

It says:

I have been wondering , if the sitemaps are numbered from 1 to say 30, the page-sitemap1.xml will have recently published pages, and page-sitemap30 will have the oldest published pages. If so when new pages are published, won’t the URLs in all the sitemaps get changed, because of that?. Wouldn’t it be tedious for Google to recrawl all the sitemaps?. Can we change the sitemaps name for the oldest to be page-sitemap1, and latest to be page-sitemap30, etc?.

Google is pointing out several pages as duplicates in the XML Sitemap. They are all pages ending in “?amp”

I want to know how the plugin can disable the generation of these amp pages in the XML?

I update my two page blog every day but the page-site map.xml shows pages updated weekly?!… How can I change this to “daily”?
