I have no time to waste on developers that promise everything in a plugin then make it impossible to even test without buying a full version.
Open Source is open source for a reason. Garbage developers like this are polluting the Open Source community and destroying it one over-commercialized product at a time.
I have no problem with people wanting to make money on their work. But don’t lie while doing it.
Will never recommenced this product or developer.

Good plugin that does what it says, sell gift certificates. They have bundle packs that brought more functionality, but you have to use their core, as this lite version is not integrated with their addons. Their support is quick to assist and glad that they’re on it. I recommend it to any business that want to sell gift certificates.

After paying for this product, I encountered some difficulty with the install. Consulted the WPGC website for assistance, consulted the video tutorials (plural). The only thing available is a basic installation video. To get any more assistance you must login? Keep in mind, I just paid for a bundle of products. I contacted their support for my login? Informed that I must pay for a “Membership” Even though the product was supposed to come with 30 Days of Support? So you purchase a product from this company and they hold you hostage for more money to get instructional video support?
Stay away from them, they are unethical and canceled my purchase because I questioned their policy and practices.

Got a warning,..
Warning: Missing argument 2 for wpdb::prepare(), called in

on line 892 and defined in

But thanks to the team, they really help me a lot to sort out and fix the warning,…
NICE PLUGIN, Works fine…

I added this to my website and it is all in working order.
I emailed support and they were very quick to get back to me and extremely helpful with their guidance on getting it all set up. I had some error messages come through because of server I run and the way it handled the code, but support was able to fix this for me very quickly. I also had some confusion around linking PayPal which they guided me through and helped me test it to make sure that it was linked correctly, which it was.
5 out of 5 would definitely recommend.

So, to counter the other good/bad reviews….
What isn’t clearly explained is that to make this work you add the shortcode
[giftcertificateslite]
to the page you want to set up certificate sales on.
This works as expected and takes the user to a PayPal payment screen after they’ve entered their information, after which it will track your certificates for you.
The downsides (what it won’t do):
*Can only create certificates with one pre-set dollar amount
*No easy way to design or add your logo and the design of the certificate is VERY basic and no frills
For me, those two downsides make this plugin unusable, but they might not be dealkillers for you, so YMMV.
There are a great deal more options in the paid version, but it’s frankly a little pricey for what we need at this time.

Had a major issue on a holiday weekend and got great response and support, including tracking the source of one of the issues to my theme. The install, updates, and set up of this theme are a bit laborious, but once it works it works exceptionally well. No hesitation to suggest.

I tried to ask questions on the commercial paid version and got my ip blocked. Poor customer service.

Highly recommended! I am using it for my SPA business. Very easy to setup and a lot of customization for my business needs. I had issue with Paypal IPN, created a ticket and they help resolved the problem within a day. They really do support on their product and keeping the customer happy.

Would love the chance to try it out, but the plug in doesn’t support euro and therefore is incompatible with an entire continent.

Sounded so promising, no obvious way to integrate into pages… pointless.

Hesitant at first because of the uncommon module system they have but this plugin has been a time saver.
Works smoothly and client absolutely loves it.

I have to say how incredibly disappointed, upset, confused, raked over the coals I feel with your Gift Certificate plugin for WordPress (WP Gift Certificate Reloaded Modular). I simply can’t believe that you would offer a free “lite” version that integrates into PayPal, then sell a commercial version that does not!!! It’s simply wrong, bad business, shady, money hungry, etc… I’m referring to your commercial core. There were no required modules for the free plugin in order to integrate into PayPal.
Because your free/lite version only offers 1 amount / 1 certificate, I tested and went ahead and bought the core (non-tracking) for $20, then a flexible pricing module for $20.00. Ok, $40 later, I install, setup and I still can’t sell gift certificates / accept payment through PayPal which AGAIN, was part of the functionality of the FREE/lite version?!!
Nowhere on your website was it stated that a payment module was required if you upgrade. The Paypal module itself currently states “Integrated with this add-on is live and sandbox mode. You can sell your own business certificates. It supports several currencies from different coutries.”.
Your FREE version also has both a paypal sandbox mode and live mode, but your core does not and is now considered an add-on module sold for $30? Ok, now $70 later…
I might have only been able to sell 1 certificate for a fixed amount with the free version, but now it’s considered “commercial”?? Come on, really… I already quoted my client, so guess who now gets to eat this one! Your website is so vague that you can’t even understand what exactly is being offered, covered or sold. Oh, it looks pretty though.
I’ve done business online for over 20 years and it’s been a long time since I’ve been left with such a poor feeling for a company and the way they do business. Rest assured, it will be the last. You might want to spend a little less time marketing and iron out your business plan.
When I posted this in the support forum, the reply from the developer was that he doesn’t know me?! Not very helpful.
