If you create a gift card at 900$, for example, and the product costs 500$. The balance is at 400$ but the gift card cannot be used a second time…

You can add gift cards as products; a user can add it to their cart and check out; but the gift card is never generated… So, worthless so far.

You will quickly find out when you set this up that people don’t actually receive the gift cards. They can buy a gift card, the transaction will process, but then they never get the email with the gift card code. Why? Because of course you have to buy the premium version of the plugin for the email to actually get delivered. So basically, the free version is just a scam to piss off your customers and force you to buy the paid version. Lovely.

After the client purchases the gift cart, you need to create the card copy&pasting the data from the order. Making it a tedious job.

I had to delete this plug in due to constant errors. No one was able to redeem their gift card via the website as they would just get an error notice and then their gift card would say there was a zero balance after the error. Too glitchy, needs a lot of work for it to function properly. I asked for support on the forum but a month later and still no help. Shame, I liked the idea of this plug in, thank god I only had the free version

I’ve downloaded the free plugin AND purchased the Pro version, but the plugin isn’t working correctly. In the admin console, I do not see any gift certificates created and the recipient is not getting an email. What am I missing?

This plugin does not offer even the most basic, minimal functionality necessary for selling gift cards. It simply does not work at all.
After more careful review of the plugin listing and other reviews, I realized why: this is intentionally not a complete plugin. It is essentially a free “demo” of a paid product… Except that since it includes no working features, it’s not even a demo, but more of an advertisement. The features mentioned by other reviews are pro-only features that are not available in the version of the plugin available here, so those reviews really should not be published here.
I got scammed into wasting a fair bit of time trying to make this plugin work before I finally realized that it’s not a real plugin. Save yourself the aggravation and stay far away from this developer.

Good settings but when you actually redeem a gift card it doesn’t discount the product totals.
Fixed by changing LINE 254 to:
$display = $giftcardPayment-$balance;
in file: class.giftcard.php

I use this plugin (and the pro version) on three different websites and think it’s fantastic. It’s lean and simple to use, and is the only stable gift card plugin I’ve found that allows customers to choose their own gift card value. Thank you Ryan, for creating and maintaining this plugin!
UPDATE 3/12/19: This (plus the pro version) was such a great lean little plugin. Unfortunately the developer seems to have abandoned it. His website is down and he doesn’t respond to email. So it’s just a matter of time before the plugin stops functioning or/and gets pulled by wordpress. Sad to see this great little plugin die.

I think this plugin gets a poor wrap. I installed it and it works very well, though it did take a bit of playing around to understand how it works. When I did have an issue the author did respond in timely manner. It does work as promised and so far flawlessly.
I think it gets some of it’s poor reviews because the documentation is minimum and not really easy to find, and that’s why I gave it 4 stars. Fix that and it deserves 5 stars.

Plugin and WP fully updated, but GC functionality is not working. I’ve done test transactions and while they seem to work fine in terms of WC itself, the GC part does not. No customer GC email is sent and so no GC is created, even though payment processed and order marked processed or complete. As far as I can tell, the only way to use this plugin is to manually create GCs in wp-admin, which is NOT going to work for a front-end, user-facing shop.
