Hi,
I changed some of the footnote css by adding it to my theme’s css file. Unfortunately, the plugin adds its own css after that directly into the web page, so it overrides the changes I make to the footnote styles.
The original version of this by Simon Elvery, which I had been using, had an option to overwrite the built-in css. Could such an option be included in future versions, either by allowing it be added in the settings or (preferably) by having an option to suppress the insertion of the default css?
]]>I found that at least the ‘Footnotes Header’ field was not translated correctly with WPML.
I contacted WPML support and they gave me the following solution:
Open the ‘footnotes-made-easy.php’ file found in wp-content/plugins/footnotes-made-easy.
Search for line 290.
Replace:
$footnotes_markup = $footnotes_markup . $this->current_options[ ‘pre_footnotes’ ];
by
$footnotes_markup = $footnotes_markup . get_option( ‘swas_footnote_options’ )[ ‘pre_footnotes’ ];
Always in the same file but on line 314 you will find a similar code. change it to this one.
$footnotes_markup = $footnotes_markup . ” . get_option( ‘swas_footnote_options’ )[ ‘post_footnotes’ ];
It worked for me!
]]>Hello,
I am currently using the Footnotes Made Easy plugin on my WordPress site. I’m trying to display the footnotes right after the main content of my articles, but before a shortcode from another plugin. However, footnotes are currently displayed at the bottom of the page after all content, including the shortcode.
Could you please provide instructions or guidance on how to configure Easy Footnotes to display footnotes in the desired location, immediately after the article content?
]]>Hi!
I got version 3.0.3. What can/must I do?
Many thanks in advance,
Frank
]]>It would be good if you could choose a location for the footnotes either by specific location e.g ‘after comments form’, ‘before comments form’ OR by css id of section where they should appear. Currently they just show at the end of the post which can make things difficult with page builders like elementor.
]]>I have recent post excerpts on my homepage. These excerpts sometimes have footnotes in them. The footnotes are showing up at the bottom of my homepage which is not desirable. I have ticked the box to suppress footnotes on the homepage, but it doesn’t seem to be working.
]]>Hi. I make use of this plugin extensively and find it very easy to use. Most other footnote plugins don’t seem to have the functionality to automatically number footnotes, automatically identify repeated use of the same footnote, and include links in the footnotes themselves. I was spooked by the hiatus in the development of this plugin four weeks ago and have hesitated to update to version 3.0.3. Has anyone had any problems with the latest version? Stephen
]]>The text that is output at the bottom of my page is rather small, how can I make it larger please, preferably with simple html would be good.
Thank you.
]]>Hello, great plugin ??
Is it possible to disable for a single category or a single post?
]]>There seems to be a bug in v3.0.2, breaking some footnotes, but not all.
I fixed this by reverting to v3.0.1.
Hi everyone,
First and foremost, I would like to thank David Artiss for his unwavering dedication and hard work in developing this remarkable plugin. His contributions have been invaluable, and we owe him a debt of gratitude for bringing this powerful tool to the WordPress community.
It is with great pleasure that I introduce myself as the new developer of Footnotes Made Easy. My name is Patrick Lumumba, and I’m excited to take over the reins and ensure that this plugin continues to grow, adapting to the ever-changing needs of our users.
One of my primary goals is to maintain the plugin’s active development and seamless updates. You can rest assured that I will work tirelessly to address any issues that may arise, ensuring a smooth and reliable experience for all users.
However, I cannot do this alone. Your feedback and suggestions are essential in shaping the future of this plugin. I encourage you to share your ideas and feature requests by creating issues on the plugin’s GitHub repository. Your input will be invaluable in helping me prioritize and implement the enhancements that matter most to you.
Together, we can take Footnotes Made Easy to new heights, making it an indispensable tool for all WordPress users who value clean, organized, and professional-looking content with seamless footnote integration.
Thank you for your continued support and trust in Footnotes Made Easy. I look forward to an exciting journey ahead, one filled with innovation and collaboration.
Best regards,
Patrick Lumumba.
]]>Hi there… this plugin has ceased functioning on all our websites.
]]>Hi everyone!
Last year I made the decision to put this plugin up for adoption, as I didn’t have time to continue developing it. Another developer took it over. They had a history of working with WordPress and seemed the right person to take this work on.
However, after breaking the plugin guidelines, the plugin was suspended from the repository and the developer took the decision to request the plugin was closed and to walk away. Unfortunately, that leaves all users with an abandoned plugin, many of whom won’t even realise. Any security vulnerabilities would go un-patched and, consequently, put everyone at risk. Rather than allow that to happen, I worked with the Plugin review team to take the plugin back again.
What I don’t have the rights to, though, is the previous developers code changes. For that reason, we took the decision to reverse all the changes they made. Version 3, now live, is therefore the last version I pushed out a few months ago. If you want to retain the previous version, please don’t update – if you’ve done it already then, sorry, but the code isn’t available and there is nothing I can do. Moving forward is our only choice here, but it is the safest route.
If you have any questions, please let me know in the replies.
The plugin is up for adoption again but, next time, I’ll try and be more careful over who I pick to take the work on.
]]>Hi Stoil, can you explain the reason why this plugin was suddenly removed from WordPress? I was wondering if there is a security issue that we should be aware of, and if we should immediately stop using the plugin.
Thank you
]]>Hi,
After upgrading to the latest version the plugin was deactivated and popped up the following message:
The plugin footnotes-made-easy.php has been deactivated due to an error: Plugin file does not exist. Is there any known issue related to this?
I had to roll back to vs 2.3.0, which is the last working version for me.
Thank you
]]>The plugin is working as expected within the native WP WYSIWYG editor, but it doesn’t work in WYSIWYG editors generated by ACF. I’m using double parentheses to begin and end footnotes. When using ACF WYSIWYG editors, the content is shown on the front end within double parentheses, rather than being turned into footnotes. Any way to make this work? Thanks for all your work on this plugin!
]]>Whenever I access any admin page on my website, a welcome banner keeps showing up. I’ve attempted to deactivate and activate it again, but without any success. Can you please assist? Thank you. Regards.
]]>After installing the extension, a strange issue occurred. When clicking on an internal link, an empty file gets downloaded, and when clicking on the internal link again, it works normally.
]]>Hello, thanks for your plugin. In the latest WP update 6.4.3, when you make a footnote the page design is damaged.
I disabled it, because it breaks the layout when you use the ACF and Advanced Views plugin. https://ibb.co/Px7tTkt
]]>I just noticed that perhaps in the last update, have no clue, that suddenly footnotes from other posts were appearing in specific posts. On the page I linked to there are 3 footnotes registered. But at least 14 appear from other posts. This is happening throughout the site on all posts that were okay until now.
The site is on SiteGround, and CDN is Bunny.net. I have no clue what is interfering here. The plugin worked fantastically until this started happening.
Any ideas?
]]>Hi Stoil!
I’m the original developer of this plugin, and you kindly adopted it from me.
However, you have removed me from the list of contributors, which is listed in the README header. As a contributor to the plugin, I should be included, and is part of the guidelines on www.remarpro.com.
Can you please re-instate my name in the README (it literally lists me as a contributor, but doesn’t give me any access to do anything). I emailed you about this and raised a Github issue, both done a few weeks ago, and have had no response, but I note you have pushed out changes to the plugin and are active in this forum.
If you could action this as soon as possible, it would be appreciated.
]]>Hello – I just installed this plugin and activated it. I modified some of the settings, such as adding a header, and changing the size of the text. I clicked on Save. But after the page refreshes, the changes go back to the default.
]]>Great plugin thanks, but the most recent version doesn’t work on some of my site’s pages.
Works here: https://www.worldenergydata.org/world-fossil-fuel-production-and-primary-energy/
But not here: https://www.worldenergydata.org/the-energy-system-of-china/
Blowed if I can figure out why? Suspect I’m missing something obvious.
]]>Just thought I’d add some info here for anyone looking to modify the tooltip ui popup.
Here are the elements you want to target (w examples):
div.ui-tooltip.footnote-tooltip {
background-color: #53a769;
}
div.ui-tooltip.footnote-tooltip a {
color: #e8c42c;
}
If you’re using the INSPECTOR in Chrome, etc to see the tooltip, you’ll have a hard time targeting the popup unless you pause the debugger (enabling :hover for the link won’t work). To do it, go to the SOURCES tab, hover over your link then press F8. This will pause the debugger and you can now target and view and modify the element.
If anyone can tell me how to change the positioning to be closer to the link, that would be awesome. I believe the Bootstrap Tooltip adds a different Class depending on the position and this doesn’t seem to. And maybe info on changing the border radius for one corner (depending on position of popup).
]]>Thanks for picking this up!
Is there a way to rely just on tooltips for this? (eg, no link to bottom). Sometimes the UX can be a bit confusing for mobile users who accidentally click twice so I’d rather just keep them with the ui/tooltip only.
(I’d want to keep the footnotes at the bottom, I just don’t need the link to send them to the anchor)
I was going to modify the plugin but thought this might be an easily implemented feature for the master plugin.
]]>Hi, Is this plugin compatible with MariaDB ver 10.6 (LTS)?
Thank you.
]]>The little popup message with “Hey! It’s been a little while that you’ve been using Footnotes Made Easy. … We would be so grateful if you could take a minute to leave a review on www.remarpro.com” keeps reappearing all the time. I’d like to be able to turn this off, can this be done at all? Clicking it away doesn’t help, it’ll be back with the next page update.
Thanks,
Thomas
Hello,
after upgrading to version 2.4.1, the references are now directly displayed within the text instead of the numbers. Are you aware of this issue?
Thanks
Konstantinos
]]>After upgrading to any 2.x, those issues happened:
Right now, I rolled back to v1.6
Thanks for maintaining this plugin
