I wanted to show categories in a sidebar widget represented by images. The free version of this plugin is simply capable of doing this. The only thing missing is an editable title field for the widget and perhaps the possibility of showing image text captions. I would consider buying the pro version.

I really need this plugin but unfortunately it’s not working on wp 3.8.1 ??

I think that the reviews for this plugin are a bit harsh. I’m not the biggest proponent of wordpress, but this plugin does exactly what it says – I can now add featured images to categories and use them in the exact same way as the rest of wordpress featured images. The reason for the 4 stars is because adding the featured image into the template has needed a bit of work. But in general, well done to the author.

The plugins seems quite useful, allowed me to set Features images for Categories but it failed to replace the header on WordPress 3.8.1 with Tempera theme.
