There is also a typo in the list of IP addresses. It says “crwal” when it should say “crawl”. Really minor point but thought you would want to know.
]]>I installed this and used the test URL extension ?fcc=demo-on and it put up the message at the top but there was no actual slow down. Caching?
More importantly there is a bug in this plugin such that with it installed the TM trademark symbol ? (option-2 on my Mac keyboard) turns into a weird string of characters. Deactivating this plugin restores the trademark symbol. Rather odd.
]]>Killer idea! Just wanted to advise on a typo as many of the haters might rest on that instead of addressing the great idea this was!
Following FCC IP ranges (CIDRS) are subject to experience the crwal speed
crwal should be crawl
]]>There are a few features of this plugin which will cause problems for some people. The use of sessions will likely break on multi-server setups, and many caching environments will simply bypass the plugin and serve the page at full speed. It might pay to leave a note about these issues on the plugin page.
Perhaps it would be possible to check the IP via JavaScript and slow the page that way? That would avoid caching issues. Sessions could be avoided through the direct use of cookies (handled via JavaScript).
