Hello all! As of version 1.10.2, there is now a Whitelist Strings box on the Anchor Behavior tab! For most of you using the custom jQuery selector with it’s very picky syntax, you can probably just use the whitelist feature now. You simply give it one or more whitelist strings separated by a comma and you don’t have to worry about getting that ever so picky jQuery syntax exactly right.
So, whitelisting should be a simple matter from here forward. I’m also hoping to keep this plugin up to date better than I have in the past. As always, I welcome your feedback!
Thanks all!
Hello,
We have added the noExitNotifier CSS class to the Virtual Branch menu item of a website, and the Exit Notifier continually shows when we click on the Virtual Branch button. So I’m unsure why it’s still showing the Exit Notifier popup.
Please advise.

I understand that you haven’t had time to update this and I totally get that. I am wondering if anyone else had this issue and a fix I could implement.
The sites we want to exclude using the jquery selector isn’t working on mobile. On desktop everything works correctly, but on Mobile, the popup is showing for every external link. Is there a setting I have incorrectly set? Has anyone else run into this?
Hello and thanks for making a great plugin!!
I am going to be adding Spanish and French translations using WPML plugin. I am just wondering what the best way to create a the notifier message in other languages. I see the English text in the Save Settings php code, but I do not know how to effect a change that would let me create a Spanish/French version of the popup.
I know this may be too specific of issue, but thanks again for the great plugin.
Hi there,
This plugin is now conflicting since my last run of updates. Are you planning on updating it soon? I really need to use this but it freezes my DIVI navigation and access to admin tools if I deactivate it works again.
Thanks,
Kim
I have a hyperlinks that go to one or more pages within https://www.clinicaltrials.gov. Ideally, I’d like to have the same exit message appear whether they are going to https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT04961567 or any other page within this site. Is that possible?
If I have an external link that contains the site’s url in a parameter, the default css selector prevents the Exit Notifier popup from displaying. Is there a way to still make the popup display?
For example, this url:
https://www.google.com/calendar/render?details=Event:https://example.com/event
will still be blocked because “example.com” is in the url. But since the link takes the user away from the site, I’d still like the popup to appear. Basically, Exit Notifier should only consider the domain of the url (the part before the question mark or hash sign), not the full url.
Is this possible?
Hi!
I would just like to report that I’m getting this error in IE11:
Syntax error
frontend.js (340,22)
It’s this part:
https://daneloctober.tinytake.com/msc/NTkwOTYxMF8xODA0MDA0Mg
Because of this, the exit notifier is being bypassed (as in it no longer works in IE). Is this something that you can address?… Though I would totally understand if you don’t want to. I would just like to know so I’d know what to tell my client.
Thank you!
I really like the plugin, but it’s 6 months out of date and is now causing jquery conflicts with my up-to-date plugins. I’ve since had to disable it.

Thanks for this great plugin.
I am having an issue, The exit message is displaying on Desktop, but can not see it on Mobile and other devices. Please guide me to fix this issue.

I’m using the SweetAlert2 option because I need the accessibility features, and I like the way it looks. But I’m having an issue on mobile screens where the popup box size is too small. See screenshot:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/xdbmvzvboe3iftv/Screen%20Shot%202021-08-04%20at%202.24.11%20PM.png?dl=0
Is there any way to fix this?
When using the Timeout feature to open an external link automatically, the browser blocks the window from opening with a “Pop-up blocked” message. This is a deal-breaker if you need the timer functionality.
Is there a workaround or quick fix for this otherwise useful plugin?
The description focuses on the default case of a popup that appears for every link outside the home site, except for a whitelist to be excluded. This may be the most common case and certainly the use the developer had as the inspiration. But I was looking for something to apply to one external site only, so I initially didn’t think it would work for me. The options for general setting did not appear until after the plugin was installed, so I went ahead only about a friend showed me a screenshot showing the interface with the jquery. I have given a very positive review in another note. So my suggestion here is that the description be expanded a bit to note the options of starting without the exclusion list and only putting in external sites for which the popup should apply.
Hello,
I’ve installed Exit Notifier today and had troubles getting it work.
I’m using wordpress 5.7.2 and Exit Notifier 1.9.1
When using default settings, I’ll encounter the following error when clicking an external link:
frontend.js?ver=1.9.1:88 Uncaught TypeError: jQuery.jAlert is not a function
at HTMLAnchorElement.exit_notifier_leave_now (frontend.js?ver=1.9.1:88)
at HTMLDocument.dispatch (jquery.js:5429)
at HTMLDocument.elemData.handle (jquery.js:5233)
jAlert.min.js and jAlert.min.css are loaded.
Because of this error i changed to SweetAlert2 in the backend settings. The popup is displayed now, but the timeout does not work (the buttons won’t get “clicked” after the timer ends).
I looked through your code and found the following:
if(timeleft <= 0) {
clearInterval(countdownTimer);
jQuery(".confirmBtn").click();
}
When inspecting the SweetAlert2 popup, i cannot find an element with the css-class “confirmBtn”. Is it possible that this button only exists in jAlert’s popup?
Also i wanted to thank you for making this plugin.
Have a nice day,
Michael
The background color checkbox in the display tab doesn’t apply to alternate content modal. That background is still black and has to be manually overwritten via css. Would be cool if it applied to both modal background colors.
Hello,
I was trying to use the alternate content feature of the Exit Notifier plug in, but it doesn’t work.
Here’s what I did:
01. I modified and saved my alternate content (from my WordPress Settings/Exit Notifier Settings/Alternate Content tab.
02. I created a URL redirect (via a ‘Button’), pasted “altExitNotifier” in the ‘Extra class name’ field of the button and saved.
Now, when I go to the front end of my site and click on the button, a dialogue box pops up, but it’s not the one with the Alternate Content – but rather the one created from the ‘Content’ tab (i.e. the default one).
I saw that a previous thread (titled “Alternate Contents Doesn’t catch the URL”) indicated there was a bug. Is this bug the cause of my problem?
If not, what am I doing wrong? (Perhaps I’m not adding the class you to my link properly in order to activate the alternate notification box…)
I googled this but couldn’t find anything. THANK YOU in advance for any help.
Aloha.
Serge

Can this plugin also be used in case you want to show the warning only on a specific page inside the same website?
For example: I have one page called “test page” with a form. Then
visitors want to leave to the homepage, About us page, or other page on the same website. Before they do so I would like to show them the warning.
I just installed it and checked and plugin works fine for all external websites but internal I dont see how it should be configured.
Thanks in advance for any reply.
Hi,
I have updated the JQuery selector to not include a website for external notifications. This is working as expected. But there is one instance on a page where I want the link that has been whitelisted to have the exit notification. Is this possible?
I tried adding the class manually to the link but that didn’t work.
Thanks
I use Exit notifier now and generally it’s perfect. Simple way for exit notifications and enought for me. It works with every link on my site, including social media Icons with links to social media profile sites. But it is not working with share buttons in posts that will share a post on social media, for example on facebook. No Exit notification is popping up. Even not on twitter or others. Only on pinterest sharing I see the notifier for half a second before the site is swithcing. Why is it not working with sharebuttons and how can I fix that?
Best regards

We have a Youtube-video embedded in our website. Inside the video is the link “Watch on youtube.com” in the bottom right corner. Is there a way to get a notification for this way of leaving the website?
