Hey
Excellent work with this plugin. Do you have plans to update it?
Hi everyone
I’m using Bibliplug with my site but I want to list reference categories aside. Although the cateogories do show when we click over them they give us back a blank page. Do you know what’s happening?

Hi
since updating to WP 3.8 a few days ago, the following has happened:
“All References” and “Add New” are twice in the menu.
* 1st ‘All References’ links to:
[website]/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=reference
List is empty, no references.
* 2nd ‘All References’ links to
[webiste]/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=reference&page=enhanced-bibliplug/bibliplug_manager.php
Contain all my references but the top actions are not appearing (i.e bulk action, apply, filter)
* 1st ‘Add New’ links to
[website]/wp-admin/post-new.php?post_type=reference
It doesn’t look like the normal add page, it only has title, and another text area.
* 2nd ‘Add New links to
[website]/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=reference&page=enhanced-bibliplug/bibliplug_add.php
I tried
restore back-up
delete references/reinstall plugin
Each time the 2 bits will come back. when I import references they will go to the initial part with no access to any action.
The public search/display page is still working but it’s going to be a problem if we can’t do bulk actions and filtering.
Thanks

I installed this plugin but see no way on the setting page to connect it to my zotero account. I am new to zotero. Thanks for any help!
First of all, thank you for this superb plugin, it does more than I expected for this kind of tool.
My problem should be relatively simple to solve, but I’m no PHP programmer so I’m lost about how to solve this: I want the reference listing in a bulleted list.
Now the items display like in a bulleted list, but without the bullets (https://opistobranquis.info/en/bibliografia/llibres-articles/), and I would like them to show up. Is this easy to achieve?
Thank you very much.
This one can eaily be fixed. In display_format_helper.php
, all your spans are given ids, but these result in invalid HTML since all IDs on a page have to be unique. You should rather use classes. If your script needs the IDs for some reason, you should autoincrement them or something to make them unique.
Some example output:

Albertus, Y, R Tucker, A St Clair Gibson, E Lambert, D Hampson, and T Noakes.
2005.
“Effect of distance feedback on pacing strategy and perceived exertion during cycling.”
Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise,
37
(3):
461-468.

Just a couple of short questions before I get myself into trouble with a customer for being wrong…
If a bibliography has been created/built on another WordPress website, what is the method that should be used to move/integrate on the final site where the Bibliography will reside?
Does the plugin work well with cache plugins or with CDNs (Content Delivery Networks?
Any known conflicts with a website using the bbPress (BuddyPress) plugin?
Any known conflicts with a WordPress website using Thesis Theme (1.8.5)?
Is there a capacity limit to the number of entries in the bibliography?
Thanks in advance for your replies and feedback!
References of the type Patent and Thesis are not imported from Zotero. There’s no further info about why they failed to import.
Hello,
I would like to change a few things in enhanced bibliplug, but I am not sure where the lines of code are:
1) I want to change the reference style as displayed on the page: I want to show always Last_name first for ALL authors, not only for first author.
2) I want to link the author to another page, not to the author.php function.
Please help!
Thank you!
I am using the following shortcodes to showcase my student publications, split by type (eg Journal Articles, vs Conference papers), and sometimes I will get 1 particular reference that just refuses to sort properly:
[bibliplug type="conference paper" tag="students" order_by="last_name, year, title"]
and
[bibliplug type="journal article" tag="students" order_by="last_name, year, title"]
If you look at, for example: https://sbio.uct.ac.za/publications/#conference_papers
You’ll see the first paper is:
Thuku, RN. 2005. “The quaternary structure of Rhodococcus rhodochrous J1 nitrilase as revealed by negative staining.” Paper presented at the 44th Annual Conference of the Microscopy Society of Southern Africa. 5–7 December 2005. Bug report:
I tried importing references from an RIS file that I exported directly from the Zotero web interface. I got a number of errors, listed below. The most important error was that the field “T2” (the journal title) was being imported as the reference title, and so any other references in the same journal were not imported (since the title must be unique, I assume).
An example of the Zotero RIS file import is below, and the fields that were not recognised were:
AB (abstract)
DA (not important - to me)
DO (doi)
DP (not important - to me)
J2 (journal abbreviation)
ST (short title)
Further, ISBN numbers were not imported correctly – leading zeros were stripped, and only the first half of the ISBN up to the hyphen was included. For example, ISBN 0022-2836
was imported as 22
.
Foreign characters in author names were not recognised. For example: Ta?tan
was imported as Ta?tan
And finally, some journals using (for example) Pt 2 or Suppl 3A instead of a simple number for issue number was not imported to the Issue number field correctly.
Example file:

AU - Sewell, B T
AU - Thuku, R N
AU - Zhang, X
AU - Benedik, M J
T2 - Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences
AB - Nitrilases are important industrial enzymes that convert nitriles into their corresponding acids or, occasionally, amides. Atomic resolution structures of four members of the nitrilase superfamily have been determined, but these differ from microbial nitrilases in that they do not form typical large homo-oligomeric complexes. At least two nitrilases, the cyanide dihydratases from Pseudomonas stutzeri AK61 and Bacillus pumilus C1, form unusual spiral structures of 14 and 18 subunits, respectively. Evidence suggests that the formation of the spiral structure is essential for activity. Sequence analysis reveals that the nitrilases differ from the nonspiral-forming homologs by two insertions of between 12 and 14 amino acids and a C-terminal extension of up to 35 amino acids. The insertions are positioned at an intermolecular interface in the spiral and probably contribute to its formation. The other interfaces responsible for the formation and/or stabilization of the spirals can also be identified. Comparative structure modeling enables identification of the residues involved in these interacting surfaces, which are remote from the active site. Mutation of these interacting residues usually leads to loss of activity. The effect of the mutations on activity in most cases can be rationalized in terms of a possible effect on spiral formation.

While I haven’t tried all possible shortcodes, it looks like only the [bibliplug id=n] shortcode works for me. I’d like to use [bibliplug format=’full’] or [bibliplug format=’normal’], but no luck so far.
This problem predates another one I had, which was solved here. I’d hoped that solving that one would fix the shortcode bug too, but that didn’t happen. ??
Thanks in advance for any help.
Is version 1.3.8 not compatible with the new WordPress 3.5 or is my installation wrong?
I have made a new installation similar to one I had running under WP 3.4.2 But now I can’t update or use the authors names. I can see that they are in the import/export system.
Have anybody the same problem with this fine plug?
First of all, thanks for the great plugin! It has saved me so much time!
When I go to Bibliography> Tags and hover over a tag called ‘tag_name” on the table, and click on ‘view’, it goes to ‘/reg_tag/tag_name’ and says ‘content not found’. Is there some way to display tag clouds and have the tag links point to respective tag pages with publication lists?
Thanks,
Hi people. First of all, thanks for this wonderful plugin; it seems to be the only one capable of keeping a proper database of scholarly articles linked to a nice, profiled author database.
On installing this plugin, I noticed that just by activating it, it had already added a couple of journal references on its own, possibly by reading the info embedded into the PDF files in my media library. (Very impressive!)
Problem is, when I try to manually add some more references, I get the following error text at the top of the page:
exception 'Exception' with message 'Cannot add or update a child row: a foreign key constraint fails (
soci94c_sarem/wp_bibliplug_bibliography, CONSTRAINT
wp_bibliplug_bibliography_ibfk_1FOREIGN KEY (
type_id) REFERENCES
wp_bibliplug_types(
id))' in /home2/soci94c/public_html/wp-content/plugins/enhanced-bibliplug/bibliplug_query.php:508 Stack trace: #0 /home2/soci94c/public_html/wp-content/plugins/enhanced-bibliplug/bibliplug_edit.php(127): bibliplug_query->insert_bibliography(Array, Array, Array, Array) #1 /home2/soci94c/public_html/wp-admin/admin.php(167): include('/home2/soci94c/...') #2 {main}
…and and error message that seems to be saying essentially the same thing:
Cannot add or update a child row: a foreign key constraint fails (
soci94c_sarem/wp_bibliplug_bibliography, CONSTRAINT
wp_bibliplug_bibliography_ibfk_1FOREIGN KEY (
type_id) REFERENCES
wp_bibliplug_types(
id))
Curiously, I have an offline version of the blog and I can add new references there. The error happens only on the online version.
And that’s it. What to do?
Hi, I have four questions:
Thanks in advance.
With version 1.3.7 it is no longer possible for me to add and edit references. By adding some parts of the form get lost and also with editing.
I made a fresh installation in a test environment. After editing I receive the error message

This is a nagging problem, but has come up again because I want to hire some undergrads to fix the references.
If I set a user to “Editor” (or anything except administrator) they cannot add new bibliography items, or even see the existing items.
I’m neither a PhP nor wordpress hacker (although I am technically experienced in many other languages and systems); I’ve looked at the code and can’t figure out why it’s not working.
Hi there,
I have EBP installed on a dev instance of my website and I’m encountering an issue which I have no idea how to even begin to fix. Well, actually there are 2 issues. The first has a bit of a workaround but it’d be nice to see it fixed, the second is at least to me a big issue that needs to get addressed ASAP if I want to use this for our professional website:
1.) The first issue is that, when doing a Zotero Sync, for most of my publications, the date got pulled in but a year was never extracted from that date to go into the Bibliography entry. As a result, most of my publications show up as having no year at all. I had to manually go in and add a year for each one. This happened especially for the article type, as well as book sections.
2.) The second issue is that running Zotero Sync now is saying that there are no changes, even though there are only 5 publications in the bibliography that are from 2012 but there are 9 from 2012 in my Zotero. I don’t know why these are getting glossed over, but it is not because of the publication type or any other issue that I can see. I’ve tried editing the Zotero entries to try and stimulate it to recognize that there’s a change, to no avail.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Not urgent, but noticed the admin icon was a broken image so I fixed it. Posting here so it can be addressed in the next release:
1. Go to line 462 of enhanced-bibliplug/bibliplug.php
2. Edit the URL so that it works in your WordPress installation (chances are you just have to remove the ‘https://localhost/wordpress’ and make it a relative URI).
Using Enhanced BibliPlug 1.3.4 with WordPress 3.4 after adding a new reference I get the following error message: “Reference ‘-1’ not found.” The reference itself is added to the database.
Hi,
At work I made several modifications and now I want to ask you who I could send them to, because I think they could be interesting for others. Can you give send my a PM with an email adress or something?

When you assign multiple tags to a bibliographic reference (term1, term2, term3), the plugin generates a new tag which is the sum of the single tags assigned (“term1-term2-term3”), so that the shortcode [ bibliplug tag = ‘term1’ ] doesn’t retrieve anything.
Any help?
