Kudos to the creator of this plugin. Does a FANTASTIC job of easily creating an index page of content. I hope the plugin creator keeps it updated. If they do, they’ll continue to earn my VERY RARE 5-Star rating!

I’ve used this plugin on multiple sites for several years with recipes. It’s amazing to me that recipe plugins don’t have anything nearly as good to index recipes.I had a problem that completely messed up my navigation and after contacting them, they worked diligently over several days to get it fixed and immediately posted an update to the plugin.
I think the bad reviews are super old. I’ve had nothing but good experiences with customer service. Highly recommend.

It works great… except it is indexing multiple posts that don’t exist and it doesn’t look like anybody is interested in addressing the support items. It looks like they may have existed as revisions of other posts, but literally just don’t exist anymore.
Have tried regenerating thumbnails etc, but no such luck.
It would be one thing if they provided a support path, acknowledged the issues or even said ‘we are not fixing this.’ It is another when there just is no support.
Junky.
To be fair, without this problem, it has been great. This, however, is a bad problem. looking for something else.

I want to commend the excellent level of support I have been receiving from John Shaw. From the first time I installed the free version to the point I am using the Pro Version, John has helped me out with any question I may have.
Some of my questions, may not have been directly related to EasyIndex, but how I could tweak it to do what I was looking for. John always gave me tips, provided some CSS coding, did whatever to answer my concerns to full satisfaction.
This is so good, especially considering some of the “Ill get back to you”, “Not in our realm” type of answers I have received from other support groups (Not Easyindex)
I’ve worked for IBM for over 35+ years in the area of IT and support, so I fully understand the importance of how a support person conducts themselves.
Just based on John’s ongoing support, I would recommend the EasyIndex plugin to any WordPress user.

I started using EasyIndex when Visual Recipe Index stopped working. EasyIndex, once set up, looks really nice. But I do have some problems with the way the indexing works, particularly with slugs.
Ideally, I would select the category I wanted indexed. That category would then show up in my menu and, when clicked, would show all of the posts within it. Instead, you click the category on the menu and you then have to click the category thumbnail, and THEN it will show you the posts. You can create a custom link in the menu to bypass this, but you still wind up with a slug that looks like this: “website.com/index/photography/photography.” Which is entirely unnecessary.
Also, if you don’t want your menu items changing, you can’t even use the index the way it’s made. You have to change everything to a custom link, which is a pain. If you don’t, you risk your site menu items changing to whatever page you’re on…which breaks the alignment of the menu and keeps readers from having full access to your entire site.
What I would love is for this plugin to just let you create a shortcode that you could insert into a page or post, which is what VRI used to do. That way, you can EASILY customize the way you want your site to be indexed. As is, this plugin is more complicated than it really needs to be and doesn’t give me as much control as I would like.
Ultimately, I can get it to do what I need it to do, just in a very roundabout way.

It is easy to install and looks good. But not all my categories would work–the index image would show up but would not link to the posts under that category. Half my categories will not link; comes up with an error message. It’s been a month and still no answer. Even emailed again and said I am interested in buying premium version if you can help me fix this problem. Still no answer. Boo!

Only 1/4 of the index templates work out of box. No support or even an email from support in a week. What a waste as this is a good ap but not as advertised.

My blog uses a genesis theme and I have been updating my recipe index manually as I was unhappy with the default from the Foodie Theme.
This plug-in is beyond perfect!! A breeze to install and customize, and looks beautiful! and I NO LONGER need to keep updating and it even looks heaps better!
If you have a blog that needs an index- this is the indexing plug-in you MUST install!

I’d been wanting a proper index for my food blog for ages, so downloaded EasyIndex as soon as I heard about it. I’m over the moon with it! I generally get a bit scared by the idea of setting these sorts of things up for myself, but honestly, this was a breeze.
I had an issue related to my theme when I first tried to set things up, so contacted the developer for help. Not only did he reply really quickly to my support ticket with a solution to my issue, but offered to do the techy bits I wasn’t comfortable with for me.
From there I had my indexes all set up really quickly. All you have to do is create an index by selecting which categories you want to include (very easy), play around with the colours/fonts etc. (also very easy with the live formatting option) and attach your index to your menu. Done.
Very happy and highly recommend this to anyone who wants an index for their blog without the hassle and high cost.

An amazing plugin! Simple to install, even for a technophobe like me, and up and running in minutes. All my posts are instantly added to the index without me having to do a thing.
I have spent hours setting up other plugins and none have looked as good as this one or been as user friendly. My bounce rate has improved significantly in the short time I have had it installed. It is by far the best index plugin there is available.
John (the developer) is extremely helpful and responds to queries exceptionally quickly. I had a little blip with my website that wasn’t even caused by his plugin yet he went above and beyond and helped me to fix it.
Highly recommended!

I’m loving Easy Index. The photo index is working out really well as all my posts have been put into categories with images. I’ve noticed this is causing visitors to my site to linger on my website for longer and have a browse around. It’s fantastic that once Easy Index is in place, new posts are added automatically without me having to do anything tricky. Fabulous!

I have a photo index of my recipes, a gallery of my posts and the sidebar widget on my food blog. It was originally created for me so it’s written from the user’s perspective. All my posts are instantly added to the index so it was a create and forget for me.

Finally an index for my recipes that I can actually work through without a programmer’s degree! John is very helpful and responsive to setup questions. He has gone “beyond the call of duty” numerous times for me. I can see many uses for this indexing plugin. I paid the very reasonable price for the “plus” addition because I don’t want to miss even one option!

I installed this and had a bunch of indexes set up within minutes. It’s so easy to navigate, and really responsive to CSS formatting. There’s even a built-in feature to help you add the index link to your menu, complete with submenus so that everything is pretty and easy to access– and I’m only using the free version! Easily the best visual index plugin there is!

Very intuitive and easy to set up. There are lots of options for layouts so you are sure to find what you are looking for – and it integrates seamlessly with your theme’s style. Very lightweight, maintains a great browsing experience. Highly recommended!
