I tested this with WordPress 5.2.2 and the theme “Twenty Thirteen” and it works perfectly. Before the plugin was activated: 2 third party requests according to Webbkoll tester. After the plugin was activated: 0 third party requests.
Thank you for this great plugin.

Good plugin to get rid of the privacy hole that is Google Fonts.
I still can’t understand why it was let in the WordPress Core …I should not need a plugin for that -_-

It didn’t do anything and yes I made sure it was activated. Guess I will uninstall and try a different one.

Thanks to this plugin my web site no longer subjects readers to Google’s tracking and removes a possible, if unlikely, security weakness. Thanks Milan!

Does not seem to work.
Google fonts still loading.

After activation Firefox still showed a cookie coming up. Maybe it doesn’t work with child themes of 20-17.

So I was demonstrating my kiosk appliance with my access point appliance + LEMP stack. I installed WordPress, tested it was very fast. Like an idiot I forgot that in my flat all devices have internet access, so the fetching of Google Font by twenty-seventeen was holding up the entire page-load & render.
Using your plugin takes that problem off my hands without changing theme or writing my own plugin, so 5*. I just wish you used currying instead of having so many functions that are 99% the same.

I need to use a local copy of WP with no internet access. This plugin stops WP from trying to download fonts from google and then popping up error messages, which makes things so much easier to use.

Does nothing, Google font still loading in WordPress

Does nothing. Google fonts are still loading.

I very much do not want Google or any other giant company watching everything my users do and there is no need to be pulling fonts as a default. The so called speed benefit of using Google fonts is not worth the privacy issues.
Thanks for the plugin!

Very useful plugin for use in countries where Google is blocked. And of course it serves other purposes too, such as local site development and simply reducing the amount of external calls.
Thanks for keeping the plugin in active development and remove the Google fonts from the default themes too.

I have used this multiple times and always just works. Currently tested with WP 4.7 and Libre Franklin font. Works perfect. Thanks

Perfect.

I used this plugin for all my websites, it does what it says and works great.
As of WP 4.6 (16th August 2016), the dashboard is finally stripped of Google Fonts, so no need for the plugin anymore (for that purpose at least).

You are a king, and you don’t even know it, folks like me in China with their website slowed down by google fonts and the iron curtain certainly respect and Thank you. Really great simple plugin. Much Thanx

This plugin just does what it promises.

Since I use SVN update I used to just “maintain” a one-line patch that archives this, but having a plug-in is IMHO better.
Since WordPress already includes functionality for dealing with the case that OpenSanse might not be viable for some reason I really don’t see why this can’t be a preference in the admin interface somewhere. Why does this require this kind of hack?

this is one of the plugins that should be part of core and should be selectable in Settings.

Thank dimadin a lot! My blog responds much faster than before, behind China Fucking Great Firewall.

It is tested in wordpress 4.1.1. It works. But it would be better to solve the issue by wordpress designers. I mean they should remove those links from wordpress or keep them as default deactivated.
Thanks to the developer of this plugin.

This is an excellent little plugin. It does exactly what it says it does, with no fuss and no messing around.

This plugin is good however, I noticed if I try to load my wordpress site in Chrome (with China VPN switched on), its still slow compared to FF and Safari. Also, I still see its loading data from font.googleapis.com
Any idea why?

Being located in China, but using a host in the U.S. – getting the Google Fonts out of my pages brought an average 30 second load time down to about a 10 second load time (which is acceptable here). Could have deleted all this manually, but why bother – the plugin works with no problems.
