It’s pretty good fun. You can write anything you want instead of Howdy… Have you fed the cat, You’ve won second prize in a beauty contest… that sort of thing. Cheers.

It deserves 5 star BUTTTT…
If you’re just sick of “howdy” and don’t know what to change it to, why not change it to something new everytime you open a page?
I liked another plugin, “Howdy Against Humanity”; that adds fun while you administer your wordpress.

Excellent wee plugin.

Just edit the /wp-content/plugins/dirtysuds-kill-howdy/greetings.txt file with your message(s) and there’s a new welcome every day that doesn’t make your users want to punch the computer. This is important for your credibility.

Don’t worry about the %1$s in the default greetings.txt file, the plugin will deal with that. It’s just a placeholder for the user’s display name. My greetings.txt file contains:

Welcome,
Hello,

Nothing else. I might put “Merry Christmas,” in there if I remember.

Good work. Helped me figure out a bit more about how plugins work, too.

I did edit the file: dirtysuds-kill-howdy/greetings.txt
and removed the optional words that I didn’t like.

It still worked, and just with the words I wanted.

Simple to edit in edit menu, change to whatever you like!
