I have been using this plugin for a while now and have always been confused about the difference between “wp cache” and “wp super cache”? Can anyone explain what the difference is?

  • wp-cache files store more about the request – like cookies and headers, so caching for logged in users or those that leave comments will always generate wp-cache files. The supercache files are simply html files usually that are served when a visitor doesn’t have any site cookies (or at least ones that matter to WordPress).

In normal usage there’s not much of a difference in speed between them now. If there is it means your server is vastly underpowered for the traffic you’re getting.
