Hi Stephanie, are you still maintaining this plugin?
For me this is still the most simple notepad solution and I would be happy is it at least would get a versioning update so my security and update plugins stop complaining. ??
Otherwise thanks a lot and keep up the good work!

Akali
Hi Stephanie,
it’s really a shame that this great tool is abandoned. On my sites it works very fine on PHP 7 and latest WP. Could you make a minor change to get it back in directory?
Best, Daniel
I installed the plugin, but no settings, or, notepad.
Where do you find it in the dashboard?
Chrome
thanks
Good day,
if I traslate our plugin into Russian, can I hope to get credit as in this example (with a backlink) – Belorussian (be_BY) by FatCow.
Thanks.
Hi Stephanie,
With WP 4.4 the link to configure is no longer available.
Thanks for a fix.
Best wishes,
Hans
Hi,
after first happiness about this helpful plugin, and successful attempts with ie, neither the shortcode nor the php-code showed anything in firefox. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks,
w.
In WordPress 3.8 (december 2013), MP6 is a built-in feature. I already running MP6 on my website. The problem with Dashbord Notepad is that I can’t saving anything with MP6 running.
When I turn MP6 off, there’s no problem. Do you have a solution for this issue?
Hello,
I like the plugin in so far. In my site teachers (editor status) can create new lessons. I implemented dashboard notes to show up in each new lesson. The notes are for the teachers only and I have configured Dashboard notes to only display to those with an editor status. However, I want them to have the ability to create new notes for each lesson. When they make a new note, all previous notes change to the current one.
Any one else have this issue?
Thanks,
Henry
Hi,
No matter how I configure it, the note still show to other users. I wanted the note to show only to admin if checked and also to show only to whoever created it, not to everyone logging into the backend. How can I make the note to privately show only to the person who created it and admin can see if checked in the option?
Thanks
mine didnt work at first like a few others have noted.
but once i went into permissions (config) and clicked save, i was then able
to edit the note in the dashboard.
i cannot modify the initial text or add new text
also i don’t se the save button
i think ‘edit_dashboard_notes’ capability wasn’t added at plugin activation moment.
i activated the plug in , but it s nowhere to be found not even in my dashboard.
Thanks

Am I missing something obvious? I installed the plugin, but I don’t see the notepad anywhere. It’s a new install (test bed), only other plugin is Akismet (inactive).
Can not type anythink, but i can see a defauld windows in dashboard, but can not type inside.
Hi Stephanie. This is swell little plugin that allows me, as the admin, to communicate with my users. Apologies for being greedy, but I’m wondering if there is a way to allow HTML in the notes so that we can do things like embed images or links.
Cheers.

I can’t remove the default placeholder text that’s in the notepad’s textarea when creating new notes
One issue I ran into with the shortcode was that I was unable to wrap it into another div in the page editor.
When I tried, it pulled itself out of that div and was on a line above the intended enclosing div in the resulting HTML.
I ended up having to use the template tag instead, which worked fine for now, but the shortcode would be preferable.
Thanks,
Michael
I’d been searching high and low for what I thought was a simple thing — the ability to let a novice user edit a single line of text that appears on a page from the dashboard.
I know Dashboard Notepad was not intended for this use, but it seems it’s the only thing out there that does this, at least easily, and it’s integration with Members made it perfect.
The only thing that would make it even more perfect is multiple notepads or note fields, each with it’s own short codes.
Hopefully Stephanie will consider this for a future release, or role this into a new plugin for this purpose… something like a Dashboard Shortcode Editor.
Thanks!

I tried upgrading from v1.24 to v1.36 on WordPress 2.9.2. I can see the Notepad and I can see the configuration, but I can’t edit the Notepad contents. ?? The source code it’s making looks like this:

Overwriting the plugin with v1.24 seemed to make it work again.
