I’ve been using Custom Field Template on my portfolio site for decades during which it has been actively maintained, as soon as WordPress core is updated, Custom Field Template is if necessary. I see a few posts saying it’s confusing or hard to use, I’m not a developer, I’ve just learnt it as I go along, if I can learn it, anyone can. If you want something that will hold your hand with a support forum then you might be better off paying for support with a paid for product but this does everything I’ve ever needed and has never once broken or let me down.

All I want to do is add an individual banner on each page. But no. Way to complex.

I can’t recommend using it all until these editor issues are resolved.

For more languages and sites excellent solution.

works like described. With some php knowledge you could make great things – like dropdowns with dynamicly loaded content – I didn′t found in other plugins of this kind.

I’ve been using this plugin for the past few years and it’s really handled adding custom fields easy on posts (with bonus labels in case you forget the formatting/requirements needed for the fields). I used it for Big Screenshot, Build Notes, Author URL and more. To setup the custom fields template isn’t super easy at first but once you’ve done it once, you’ll never forget. A great free plugin.

I have to use an old version of this plugin in order for title value to show. Despite the fact this plugin has been updated, this issue has not been resolved and the plugin author has not respond to threads about this topic. Too bad, because otherwise it’s a great plugin.

My website is bilingual and one of the custom fields is used to provide the title in the second language. The plugin is very helpful to keep everything simple for that.
The admin interface is quite strange and confusing at first, but after the setup you don’t really need to check it.

I have used this plugin on dozens of sites. I have never been able to break it. It’s been a huge asset!
As you’ll see in the review results, it’s not for everyone. If you’re strictly a WYSIWYG type of person who loathes code, you will have difficulty, so don’t bother. And the interface isn’t all pretty. After making your templates, you may need to go down to the other options and look around.
I use it to display stuff on the sidebar with shortcodes (go to Global Settings, and be sure to tick “Use the shortcode in the widget” and possibly “use autop function”!), and just about anywhere else in a theme. If you want to put custom fields into certain spots in your theme code, some PHP is required. I am a theme developer, so this is a cakewalk for me. If you’re not, you may want to try ACF.
Big, big thanks to Mr. Miyashita!

Good plugin

Where do I begin? It breaks down every time you update it, has no documentation to speak of, require hard PHP coding to work properly. In short – this is far from being a real WordPress plugin. Stay away from it.

When I first started using this, I found it difficult to get started. The interface is not user friendly but it works. Easy to add your fields, once you understand how it works, it’s easy to implement them on the site. It does take some getting use to, I gave up on this many times at first but have been using it for a while now.

In Custom Field Template Plugin 2.1.5 Multiple image in not being uploaded/saved after clicking Update button. Can anyone kindly help me with this ? Optimistic to find the fix.

This looks potentially awesome, and exactly what I’m looking for.
BUT I can’t figure out how to use it. Lots of options and settings with no explanations. No substantial documentation or instructions anywhere.
The best I could find was “this works just like [some outdated plugin from WP v2]” and that plugin’s instructions are just as thin on the ground.
I don’t know how anyone else managed to figure out how to use it. This is a good example of a developer that can’t see the forest for the trees, and thinks everything is obvious when it isn’t.
Please at least provide a video demo / introduction. 5 mins with commentary would help clarify an otherwise confusing plugin.
