I’m building a medicinal plants web site, importing content from a legacy Microsoft Access database, I exported each MDB table to a csv file. I now have about 20 csv files I would like to import to the medicinal plant custom post – I used Advanced Custom Fields Pro and CPT-UI to create the custom post.
Each row in each csv file is only a part of the complete post, when I have imported all the csv files I will have a complete post.
Really appreciate any help or suggestions on the best way to do this.
Hello, your plugin was exactly what I was looking for, but I’m getting an error code every time I click “import Data”. These errors include: The page isn’t working; the page is currently unable to handle this request; and HTTP ERROR 500.
I suspect that I’m not setting something up correctly. Would you be able to help me set up one sheet for data import so that I can use that as an sample for the rest of my csv docs?

Once activated I tried to go to any of the appeared tabs: Setup, Basic options, Advanced options, Stats and info
And it gave me server error 500.
Tried reinstalling the plugin from WP admin and from the FTP server side.
Same error message.
Any suggestions on how to tackle this ?

]]>1) I have systematic post updating enabled but no posts are created.
On the schedule settings I have ticked all the boxes and added daily,hourly and event limits. When I submit the settings all the boxes are cleared. No posts are created. Manual post creation using “Create Posts” works fine.
2) I have a tag rule to create tags using a data field, no tags created.
If these problems can be sorted you will have one satisfied customer.
]]>When uploading a csv file using UTF-8 characters, I don’t even get an error msg, it just tells me everything went fine, and source ID 0 was created… Afterwards, there is no available source with the uploaded file.
It seems the problem is with Excel saving csv files as ANSII. The file needs to be converted to UTF-8 first for it to work. Is it possible to have add an option to force a UTF-8 conversion on uploaded CSV files? Or is there some other solution (I would prefer not having to ask my customer to convert the file manually to utf-8 using some strange application every time…)
]]>I have installed v8.2.0 on WordPress v4.2.2.
When the plugin is activated I can only access the main configuration page of the plugin and not the sub configuration pages, they don’t even show in the dashboard. So only https://www.my-page.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=csv2post is available. Can anybody tell me why and how I can resolve this?

I installed CSV2Post and activated it. Is there an additional step I need to take to get the plugin screens to appear in my admin menu? I am only seeing C2P Content (with sub-menu options All Content Templates, and Create) and CSV 2 Post Update Ready (which gives me a screen saying there are no updates available).
In the demo videos on your site I can see a whole lot more menu options, that I don’t have. I stopped one of the videos to see the admin URL you are using, and it is ?page=csv2post_design – but when I try to go to that I am told I don’t have sufficient permission to access that page (I am an admin user).
Is there a step I have missed? Like do I need to upload a csv file first? I am not sure of the required format for that file.

Here is what I want to do. I want to create a custom vehicle inventory that will run off of a CSV. The post title would run off of year, make, and model fields. As the client updates this CSV the system would update automatically. Can I use CSV 2 POST to make this happen and if so, how? Will I be able to make a search that runs off of this using particular fields?
]]>1) In Data Import panel, when I try to import a slightly different version of CSV file (2 additional rows), I got “Source Fully Imported – It appears all rows have already been imported according to the progress counter. You could use an Update button to reset your source progress and make the plugin start from the first row again”. There is no Update button in the panel.
2) In Create Posts (total posts = 1), I got “Fatal error: Call to a member function update() on a non-object in \wp-content\plugins\csv-2-post\classes\class-csv2post.php on line 4640”. But the post is created fine.
3) There are many setting panels and after I save them, I have no way to know if they are stored somewhere because their values do not show in screen – I have no way to see the settings I did or modify them.
4) The source of my data is a MySQL table. Instead of downloading into a CSV file and uploading using CSV2Post, is it safe to (a) upload just the headers and 1 or 2 rows into CSV2Post and then insert the rest directly using INSERT csv_table SELECT my_source_table?
5) Any page explaining how the updating function works?
]]>It seems the WordPress funnction dbDelta() is not updating existing database tables by adding two new columns.
If your updating an existing installation and problems arise we simply need to add the new columns to the “wp_c2psources” table. It’s a small task with various approaches i.e. a plugin update with tool, manually in the database using phpMyAdmin which can be found in hosting control panel.

]]>Version 8 delivered use of the WP admin Help tab and “i” lettered icons which displayed help when clicked. This approach is being upgraded to something a little more special and efficient for the long term. At some point the Help icons and help tab may vanish from the plugin while a transition is happening.
This week I took the approach further and developed a system for help content and documentation management. Any support content I create will begin on the WebTechGlobal website where I have a plugin to aid this process. The plugin generates the PHP array required to insert into my CSV 2 POST and add some of the help content as found on the site. Not all though. Just enough to help will be added for every feature and more detailed tutorials can only be viewed by visiting WebTechGlobal. The generated array contains links and video URL also.
In short some help text, a link and video can be added to any feature in CSV 2 POST (eventually all my plugins) without having to type the help content twice.

I pushed for more simple headers during re-development. It was a decision that seemed good at the time but not long after release and some complaint I realized it’s a suitable requirement to expect from developers. Not the average WordPress user.

So I’ve begun the work. I’ve created a spreadsheet specifically for testing. It has all sorts of headers: brackets, periods and hyphens.

]]>CSV 2 POST free edition development will no longer be a spin-off from the premium edition. This basically means that the development is independent, almost a project on its own. The free edition can now be found on GitHub but not the premium, not yet!

I’d like to offer discounts on the premium edition to anyone who improves the free edition. There are guidelines/restrictions as I want the development to go in a specific direction. Keep in mind I have Easy CSV Importer and I need both plugins to be distinct.
I’ve considered giving the premium edition free if improvements in the free edition should be added to the premium. I don’t want to see code creeping into the premium edition that has originally been added to the free. It’s not right and has never been the intention.
So hopefully using GitHub you can complete some rewarding work.
]]>CSV 2 POST 8.0.0 is almost ready for release. Get a copy now if your keen to do some testing. The plugin has been re-built from scratch…again! That will not happen again though and from here on there will be small updates delivering new features from time to time.
The new version is not compatible with installations of previous versions. The new plugin will not use or change data related to CSV 2 POST version 7 and earlier. If you find you have updated an old version and caused some problems. Just revert back to the previous version. I know this may be a problem for some but I find most users do not update the plugin once things are running well.

I tried uploading a CSV file that I created from an excel file. It seems like the plugin is only processing the header row because when I upload it, it will say 9 rows processed and then it will say 9 rows dropped, there are 10 rows in the file I’m testing to upload. I tried creating a csv file from scratch with dummy information to see if I could get that to work so it appears that the problem is coming from my excel file, but I haven’t been able to identify that problem. I cannot create the CSV file from scratch as there are over 5,000 rows of information that needs to be uploaded.

I’ve tried using this plugin and it seems very clear how to set it up, but for some reason I can’t get it to work. I’ve run into multiple issues and at this point I don’t think it’s me. I’m using the free version of the plugin and maybe that’s the problem. I’ve tried with the theme I plan to use for my site and I’ve tried with the default WordPress Twenty Thirteen and Twenty Fourteen themes. I’ve also tried disabling all my plugins and using the default theme. Still running into multiple issues.
So here are all my issues…
– I have gotten posts and pages created, but they are set to (no title) instead of a title that I set
– I have gotten posts and pages created but none of the content “tokens” are appearing
– I have gotten to the end of the set up process to receive a message that says there was an error and no posts were created
– I have imported the data and set the date and it says 0 rows were recorded
Those are the ones that I can remember off the top of my head. This seems like exactly what I’m looking for for my client, but I can’t seem to get it to work properly. I also haven’t found any other plugins out there that have quite this much power and control (provided I can get it working). I would appreciate any help you can offer, I would really like to use this plugin.

I think the content template feature in the free version is broken… unless I am just unable to figure out how to use it properly.
The template is applied during the ‘Quick Start’ process. But there seems to be no way to make changes to the template and then re-apply the template to the content.

]]>Please do not ignore the notice that clearly states PHP 5.2 is not suitable for this plugin. We are finding a lot of users ignore the notice and proceed to use the plugin.
PHP 5.3 is more reliable and 5.5 has been released with many fixes. WordPress itself has functions for 5.3 which operate better than their depreciated versions for PHP 5.2 so its not all about this plugin.
Right now there are few reasons not to use 5.3 with a new WordPress installation or a WP 3.6 update but if you do have a reason you must not use our plugin.
You can switch PHP versions using hosting control panel. Look for an icon named something like “Configure PHP” or “PHP Config” or “PHP Setup” etc.
]]>We carried out a lot of work for WP 3.6 around one month back. However we’re finding a major problem with our tabs.
We’re using standard jQuery UI tabs and even with the latest script they conflict with WordPress. Then we found another couple of plugins with the same issue. One of them is a plugin for adding tabs to posts and it worked great until WordPress 3.6.
This happened around the same time we were debating if we should even being styling WordPress plugin interfaces in our own way. The conclusion of that debate is that we should not be using our own styles and should make them blend into the WordPress interface, making it easier for them to be re-styled where developers need to do it for clients.
It means jQuery UI will be removed from CSV 2 POST. It’s being removed right now and we’ll update the repository very soon.
Hopefully within 24 hours.
]]>The new version 7.0.2 now prevents the database log table growing too large.
There is a 48 hour limit on it. Eventually more settings will come to not only control the expiry of log entries but control what is logged. Most of the system is in place but these tweaks are low priority on our task list until people ask for it so speak up folks ??
