Good solution for start working with block based themes.

Excellent plugin, simple, lightweight, does what it says.
The only bad thing about this plugin is why is it not a native feature of WordPress !! Especially when creating style variations it just create so much ease of mind.

I think I said it all in the title. I couldn’t upload the theme as it was missing a styles.css. I checked the files and can confirm that there isn’t one. I guess I could add a blank one, but then I could just create a child theme myself if I wanted to start creating files.
Nice idea, poor execution…a bit like blocks ??

I didn’t use this to really customize anything. I just used it to create a child theme of 2024. It worked great. I exported the theme and it automatically downloaded to my computer. I tried it to upload it to add a new theme, BUT it said it would be overwriting my 2024 theme.
So, I did have to unzip and rezip to rename the folder, something that SHOULD be part of the export options (maybe in a future release?).
However, AFTER doing that. I simply uploaded the zip and my child theme was there!

Wow, 2 days of work completely gone! In the end I edited the “theme info”, hit “saved changes” and *poof*, all gone.

One thing that I would improve:
When you open the assets/fonts folder of TT3 or TT4 themes, they offer .woff2 but the same doesn’t happen with this plugin. So when you add a Google font it is only adding the .ttf font format, which is a very old format.

Thanks for this. It works well. It’s exciting that block theme design is low code. This plugin makes it even more low code.

Works well with the built-in theme editor. Its a shame the theme editor itself is not better.

This is essential for theme devs. Or anyone working with child themes.

I love this. In just about a blink of the eye, I can create my own custom version of an already-built theme. Sweet!

I love this plugin! It allows me to install fonts from Google easily and quickly. It hosts selected Google fonts locally, which improves the performance and reduces name lookups to load the font off the Google CDN. It works well with 2023 theme and has a simple interface. I had some issues with permissions at first, but I found the solution in the support forum. The development team is very responsive and helpful. Thank you for creating such a great plugin! ??
Here is a video showing how you can install fonts with this plugin:

As someone learning how to create block themes, I appreciate that this plugin exists to help fill the gap in knowledge! ]]>Rating: 4 stars
This is amazing work.
Fonts, custom patterns, it all gets carried over.
For me something important is missing: If I tinker with the theme a bit and export it, there is no way to change the version number. Every time I import a new version of the exported theme it gets imported as a new theme. I tried editing the version number in the zip file but that doesn’t change it.

It’s an excellent plugin that helped me to avoid lots of manual work, copy&paste, etc.
I just build my site, save it as a theme, and it’s done.

Doesn’t automatically push the footer to the bottom of the page whether there is content or not.

Create Child theme does not bring over Header and Footer Template Parts. error msg. is “Template part has been deleted or is unavailable: header” and “Template part has been deleted or is unavailable: footer”. Using Twenty Twenty-Three Theme v. 1.0, Gutenberg v. 15.2.1, and Create Block theme v. 1.6.0.
Create Block Theme extremely useful. I love the Additional CSS in Global but it disappears with the latest Gutenberg update.

I hope to find out that I am doing something wrong or that the environment I’m working with is the problem but so far I’ve had a lot of problems with the plugin.
This plugin was recommended to me as a good way to get started in theme development. I had been hoping to move away from Divi as my website builder of choice.
I’ve tried cloning the Twenty Twenty-Three theme but the clones have been broken in a couple of ways. I’ve had template elements (header and footer) be missing and “layout” options missing from blocks that were there on the original theme.
I tried creating a blank boilerplate theme instead. I’ve run this multiple times on the same ‘raw’ WordPress install (created in LOCAL) and this has resulted in three different outcomes: a critical error, an incomplete theme that is just a folder that is empty except for a read me file, and also a successful blank theme.

At this stage this plugin is a total bug fest. It would be great if it worked. Almost nothing works as shown. Can’t import it’s own child themes. Can’t write to local fonts. And when you manually FTP your new font into the right folder and edit the theme.json file it works. For a day. Then for whatever reason the next day – only one font variation will work. Double checked everything. Re uploaded new theme.json. Because I need PT Sans Narrow to work with the regular and bold (for squeezing headings in) this is a pain. The only fix I could come up with was to edit theme.json with the Bold PT Sans renamed as my-swear-word-font. That worked. Still can’t export a child theme after the update. And to think the TOP MAN at WordPress flouted this.

Love it, and it’s finally a clean and easy to use solution to send our theme users to, if they want to add a custom font or create a child theme for any purpose really.
It’s also great to add fonts to our themes, although it would be great, if it would work with variable fonts and WOFF2.

Ein sehr gutes, nützliches Werzeug!

This plugin will let you create a block theme easily. It generates all the code so you can focus on design. I hope the authors will keep up the good work on this plugin and add even more features in the future.

Great plugin for creating child themes. It does two simple things – creating a child theme and configure Google Fonts. The plugin has great potentials and I think it can go a bit further to be a powerful toolset.
As the plugin name suggests, it works only with block themes such as Twenty Twenty-Two and similar. When I have a non-block theme activated, the plugin link tabs don’t show up at all, and I’m wondering why it’s not working. To make the plugin a bit more user foolproof, the link tabs should show up anyway and provide some warning message when a non-block theme is active.
Also I think we can go beyond the two simple functions of creating a child theme and Google Fonts. The option to add other online font services such as Adobe would be nice (maybe just an easy way the add their embed link.) It would be much more powerful if the plugin can somehow convert or configure non-block themes?

I used it to create child theme and it worked. Why is this plugin not so popular? I’ve been wasting my time in creating child themes manually which used to be pain. I wish I knew this plugin earlier.

This morning I was diving deeper into FSE and Block themes as a developer when I came across the realisation that you couldn’t actually save changes in the site editor to the theme files in core. Annoying!
That is until I was shared this plugin which not only enables saving user changes and overriding theme templates (without manually exporting a zip folder and replacing files) but a ton of other cool features like creating new block themes, creating child themes, cloning the current theme and more.
Thank you for developing this functionality!

Easy way to create block themes

This plugin is the perfect way to get started building block themes. You can edit an existing theme in the editor, and export your changes to a new theme or a child theme.

The direction this plugin is going is fantastic and really empowers no-code/low-code theme designers. Would love to see it integrated in Core at some point, but having this functionality in a separate feature plugin is a great first step.
