Perfect for my requirements.

So some bureaucrat decided that websites need to show some spiel on their websites that a user is being tracked. This law is as ridiculous as having a warning on rat poison that you can only see after you have eaten the rat poison!
But that being said, this cookie works well. I had it on my website but I have disabled it for the time being as I’m not sure if I really need to be telling people they are in a trap after they have entered the trap.

I like this plugin as it easily achieves what I interpret we need for implied consent, plus it doesn’t require backend services on other servers that I don’t have control over.
I’m not a fan of the lightbox pop up for the popup, so I have just updated the CSS to make the dialog appear at the top of the page until dismissed:
For anybody else wanting to do this, I just made an edit of the cookiewarning.css to change the following entries:
div#cookiewarning div#back{
}
div#cookiewarning p#buttons{
text-align: right;
overflow:hidden;
border-radius: 3px;
}
div#cookiewarning div#back div{
background-color: white;
width: auto;
margin: 0.5em auto;
height: auto;
padding: 0.5em;
text-align: justify;
font-size: 0.95em;
}

There is a problem with the european cookie law: The european law demands that users have to agree before tracking begins (opt-in).
This plugin doesn’t prevent cookies of the first visit. You can prove this with a site which uses Piwik. Install the Add-on “Ghostery” and you’ll see that cookies are set before clicking on the “I agree” button or on the “I disagree” link. You may take a look into the adjustments of Firefox too. There you’ll also find the cookies. They will still be there although you clicked on the “I disagree” link.
