Pretty good plugin that work well for us. Lately though, there have been some conntection issues that hopefully will end soon. Otherwise, this would have been a 5-Star review.

Our organization has experienced constant issues with the Constant Contact WP plugin and platform. Constant disconnects, issues after each update, lists randomly stop syncing or disappear, new signups not being allocated to their chosen lists during sign up etc. The plugin and platform also lacks a lot of dynamic features that other competitors provide. We rely heavily on email signups for our marketing and this platform/plugin are noticeably hurting our efforts, which is why we are finally making the move to another provider.

Not sure what all the negative reviews are about…it works great for me.

It is so convenient to have this plugin available and sync to your CC lists. However, the plugin randomly deactivates and gives you no notification of when it is no longer syncing. Then you’ll be notified of a new subscriber to your email address, but that person will never make it over into CC. It’s very stressful to try to figure out who made it to the list and who didn’t and when it stopped syncing. This can’t be that hard of issue to solve! At minimum, sending an email that the list is no longer syncing so we can go in and disconnect and reconnect (that seems to be what works).

When it works, it works, but the plugin randomly resets the connection which causes email signups to be hung up and clears all the lists. It also doesn’t show as disconnected but seems to be solved by disconnecting and then reconnecting. If this could be solved then it would be 5 stars

We have been using this on our website and it works well. I had a small issue and the support jumped in quickly to help out. Between the great plug-in and the awesome support I highly recommend this plugin.

Our experience wasn’t good. The plugin regularly disconnect from ConstantContact so no lists are attached, resulting in lost submissions.

I guess I expected a plugin from ConstantContact to be bullet-proof.
If we temporarily disconnect it, we have to go through their whole process again to connect it again.

Have been using the Constant Contact plugin for years but lately it keeps disconnecting or “losing” the lists and we are missing unknown # of subscribers. Happy with Constant Contact otherwise but urgently need to seek a new, reliable option for signups.

This plugin stopped working with the latest update. I connect to my account, but can’t sync my lists.

It needs to be more customizable, the output is not attractive and it’s hard to use.

Would like the ability to change company name in disclaimer and the company name in disclaimer sometimes shows up in some browsers and in others it either displays differently or does not show up at all

But has issues remaining connected, which is catastrophic if we are attempting to capture potential client details

It does not work. I disabled ALL plugins, changed the theme, and did both at the same time. All I got was a blank screen.

The 2.0.1 version lost all of our lists. They cannot be re-synced. And we cannot create new lists from within WordPress. Without connections to lists, this plugin is fatally broken. Reverting back to v1

Truly Terrible, Constant Contact

I would like to see more rich form design, such as embedding field labels in the field, placement of the submit button, inline with text instead of always on a new line. I would like to be able to use a single line form in my website footer, but you don’t seem to have one and your smallest form expands the footer unacceptably.
I understand the need for your disclaimer, but perhaps it could be minimized. Your depiction of my lists in the dashboard is incomplete. Fortunately the list of lists for a subscription form is sufficiently complete.

The forms feature that purportedly integrates with WP does only one thing well: capture an email address and put it in whatever CC email list you’d like. What it does not do well is capturing other information (i.e., a custom text field for comments, or a custom text field that may be requesting specific information like “how many adults” for an RSVP-style form). CC support told me I was not using the “official WP CC plugin,” which I am!
The issue I saw had to do with the opt in check off box that shows at the bottom of the fields. There are now 3 scenarios that I have noticed through testing:
1. If I remove the opt in check off box (as a feature at the bottom of the form) created in the Constant Contact plug in, I receive the email with all the form entries.
2. If I leave the opt in check off box on the form, fill out the form but do not click the check off box, I get nothing (no email with the entries, and of course no opt in for the subscriber).
3. If I leave the opt in check off box on the form, fill out the form and also click the opt in check off box, I get no email with the entries, but I do get an opt in for the subscriber.
I am removed the optional check off box because it fouls up the whole purpose of my RSVP form (to gather entered info). What I asked CC but get not get a response, was if the entry data is stored somewhere either within WP or CC. I ask about the possibility of stored data (stored entries) because now I fear that site visitors have been entering data into the form that I have never received.
If you know if form entries are stored anywhere, let me know. They do not show anywhere in the CC contact record.

Constant Contact inline forms look primitive and are complicated to embed. This plugin makes the process even more complicated. I don’t suggest this plugin or Constant Contact to anyone.

This form does not work.
Have done all the troubleshooting available and entered emails disappear into the abyss.

Making it 100% useless but also 100% annoying.

This “plugin” is a scam! I’ve had a reputable third party security company investigate & confirm that they steal users information & access the backend of your site without your permission (for their own gain). I’ll be creating a site (ill keep u updated) presenting all the proof to validate my accusations.
On a side note they don’t implement the most common features for customer campaigns. For example, their double optin user verification email/link is a link that directs users to their own site rather then offering to have you place your own URL. In other words who cares about promoting your own business lets promote “constant contact” instead. Sad considering that they are a third party plugin focused on helping their customers market their site. Everything within their platform is directed towards benefiting themselves first and then their customers.
They have the worst customer interface I’ve seen and to get things done is as complicated as I have ever seen it. If your a beginner I would say please don’t waste your time. Customer service is extremely poor. William_D has been nothing but a nightmare. My goal moving forward is to “expose” this “company” as the fraud that they are!

I used Constant Contact once and my experience was wonderful. I am going to try again now that I have an e-mail list. Thanks for your good workReaders said they subscribed to my webpage from a link I created. I never received data. Can you help me solve this? Thanks.

The worst spam protection. Dozens of obvious spam messages every day despite the various methods of using anti-spam questions or ReCaptcha. For the one real user who wants to be added to the list in a month, it can be done more easily manually as opposed to sifting thru a thousand spam submissions in a month

This plugin is garbage. At best you may get one of three applicable functions to actually work as intended. The forum for support is 2 pinned and closed tickets from 2018 without any solutions. Thankfully there is a great plugin that actually DOES work with Constant Contact and I just stopped my search when I found it. WP Forms – that’s your solution. redirects and enough customization to get what you need. This plugin should be pulled, it’s useless. Honestly do not waste your time. Constant Contact how many decades until you add the most basic feature that EVERYONE has requested perpetually REDIRECT ON FORM SUBMIT – remove head from rectum… shameful

The simplest possible function, user provides email, it submits to Constant Contact and user is added to specified list; just doesn’t work.
I’ve read through multiple threads that have the same ‘Must select list’ error warning upon submission, tried every trouble shooting step and fix a half dozen times each. Deactivated, deleted, started over completely and still the same error.
Shame really because you do always want these plugins coming directly from the service provider as you assume they’d be the ones building it properly.

I’m writing a review to push users to the solution that worked for us.
After the plugin we were using stopped working, I started hunting around for other options and figured I’d try Constant Contact’s solution, thinking it would be the most reliable. Well, I kind of got it to work, but there’s no control over the form and everything looks hideous like it was designed by a monkey. After trying to customize it for about an hour I just gave up and uninstalled it.
We use gravity forms on our site, and they just so happen to have an add-on for Constant Contact. It gives you foolproof instructions to connect to the CC API and from there you have full control of how you want it to look. I was able to set it up and the form and button nicely matches everything else on our site. If you want an easy solution that works, I’d suggest checking it out.

It connects fairly well – and has a reasonable feature set, but with 50 lists across 16 websites and installing this plugin on most of them, I have come across the following shortfalls that is requiring us to find another compatible plugin that will record data into CC:
* Fields are extremely limited – can’t add anything but some generic first/last/phone/email and custom text field, but no dropdowns, selections, checkboxes, etc.
* Address field hardcodes State/Zip into fields – as a Canadian company, we are forced to leave this here even though we’d love a toggle for Province/Postal Code, and I am sure other countries would agree.
* Output limits how much flexibility you have to design – basically just forced to go down in a vertical single line form unless you seriously hack out some bad-syntax css rules to add columns.
* No ability to customize the ‘agreement’ disclaimer at the bottom – we want it to be unique to each website, not just the same generic one for the main CC account.
* I am personally ok with the bare visuals as it is really easy to override all the elements to design the form how you want, but could see why some users may find it too basic who don’t have much html/css knowledge.
