Thank you so much for creating this plugin. I have been using it for a couple of months and it works superbly. I didn’t think such a plugin would exist since it serves such a niche purpose and was so pleased to have found it and that it just works. It works so simply (just a check box, basically plug and play) and is perfect for my site.
For those of you who want to know applications for how this plugin could be used: I have another plugin that displays content on a page using a shortcode, that content already contains an image but that image does not show up in lists of recent posts such as on the home page, so I have to add that image as a featured image in the post that contains the short code. Without this plugin, the page will show two instances of the same image at the same time and would not look so good. This plugin lets me add a featured image to a post, display it anywhere that lists recent posts for visual purposes, but then hide it on the actual page itself so only the image from the shortcode shows. Perfect.

For some reason, CSS to hide featured image wasn’t working, this plugin did the trick…
Thanks so much!

Plug and play, straight forward, just works. Works on WordPress 6.6, maybe it doesn’t need to be updated that often. Thank you for such a simple fix to a niche request!

Finally. A plug-in that just works. Thank you for making my headache go away.

В некоторых темах просто не работает совсем. Галочку ставишь — эффекта нуль.

Doesn’t work any more. Too bad – this is a needed function, but I’m uninstalling and looking for a different way.

Doesn’t Work If You Want Featured Image Hidden On Page, But Appearing in Social.
I downloaded “Conditionally display featured image on singular posts and pages” because I need featured images to show up in Facebook posts but not on the page when it’s viewed in its own window.
This plugin does NOT accomplish this. Maybe it does something else, but the description led me to believe it would do this
Waste of time!
The search for a solution continues …

Just what I needed, thanks so much!

Using on the Minimalist Newspaper theme, and it does exactly what it says it does.
All I wanted was a thumbnail on the posts listing, not a giant expanded thumbnail on the post itself. This plug-in solves that problem.

First, let me say, this plugin is great! Now the suggestion, it would be awesome if the developers can add a checkbox (on/off) at the admin list of posts window level. I have over 300 posts, and I’ve turned this app on for about 20% so far (Display featured image in post lists only, hide on singular views). Problem is, I did not keep track of which one’s were turned on since I did not do this in any structured fashion. My disorganized approach aside, I think this app would still be so much more powerful and efficient to be able to turn it on/off at the admin list of posts window level, since you won’t have to go into every individual post just to do that, and you can see exactly which posts have it on/off. Note, a global on/off would not work since some posts still need to remain off. Thanks for the app.

That’s all, it just doesn’t do anything it says.
Installed, activated, selected the checkbox to not display image on post page, image still displays.
Wordpress really needs to clean up the plugins and remove the ones that no longer function.

Due to the one feature that this plugin provides, I am saved from having to switch to a different theme. Kudos to the creator for creating this.

I was able to get this working on Genesis Press themes by adding the following code.
function wp234_featured_post_image($v) {
global $post;
if ( is_singular( 'post' ) && get_post_meta( $post->ID, 'cybocfi_hide_featured_image', true ) ) {
return '<!-- hide featured image --> ';
}
return $v;
}
add_filter( 'genesis_pre_get_image', 'wp234_featured_post_image', 8 );

<p>The plugin is working fine for me on Neve Pro! One suggestion though: Add a settings toggle to default it to on or off? I’d like to have it on for all posts and that would be one less step during publishing.</p>

…it hides a featured image from a post ONLY while keeping it in lists. That’s very important because if the image is used to create a thumbnail within project/portfolio lists/masonry views, the image won’t be missing from there (which unfortunately is what happens with other plugins such as “Zi Hide Featured Image” by Zen Invader).
That said though it defeats the purpose because the full space where the image and often page title are shown will remain there and since most themes are built to show a placeholder rather than keeping the area empty of collapse it (with a display:none for instance), then you’d be left with a missing featured image at the top of the post which will now show a placeholder with the title page over it. This happens with the theme Bauhaus by Highsea, but also with other themes when using a classic page mode which means a standard WP page where images and text can be added in the “usual” way.
I’d suggest to improve by making the hide on single post to also have an option to collapse the featured image area on that very same post.

This has been a very handy plugin on 5 of our sites for several years. Conditionally display featured image on singular pages and posts does what it says well.

One of the best plugings that should be in your plugin list. Amazed to see the speed of the development to fix issues with the plugin. Thank you!

Thanks very much, Cyrill. It works right out of the box, even with many other plugins and a 3rd-party theme.

Hi,
I’ve been looking for a solution that works with Woo commerce product pages.
When I tick the box to hide featured image on the page, it hides the whole gallery. I’m trying to hide just the featured image.
I’ve tried various code and thought I’d hit the jackpot when I saw this lovely plugin!
Can you confirm if the code is doing this intentionally or is there a way to isolate the featured image so that it wont interfere with gallery plugins?
I’m not seeing any errors in the console, and when I inspect the page, the entire gallery no longer exists.
I would really appreciate your help with this, and it would be great to be able to state it works well for product pages ??
many thanks,
David

Was looking around that would allow me to feature display images in my blog post listings, but not in the actual blog post itself. I did not need a duplicate featured image stuck in the header of the page. So far, this seems to be one of the few plugins, if not the only plugin that has that capability.
Great work and thanks a million for making this available to the WP community!

My template required a featured image displayed in a main-page slider however, I didn’t want to display any images in my post, because I already had a YouTube video shows there. This plugin allowed me to hide the image in the post.

It took me a while to find a solution to hide singular images from my posts – This Plugin Works absolutely great and is easy to use.

It works great, but it not only removes the main featured image that is added automatically by wordpress, but also removes/hides the featured image inside any component from the post, such as Single Image from WPBakery Composer.
Anyway, I managed to solve it by manually choosing an image from the gallery on that Single Image WPBakery Composer component, instead using the “featured image” option.
