I just installed Code profiler and I get the following error when I start profiling. Tried it with several users and settings.

The HTTP server returned the following error: 200 SyntaxError: Unexpected token ‘<‘, “

Front- and Backend of my site are available and show no error in the browser.

What can I do to get the profiler working?

our problems are mostly in some quite specific cases like clicking on a modal etc. where you need to set up context that I can’t put into one http request.
I had another profiler once where I could basically say “track what this user is doing until I tell you to stop”, that was awesome for this kind of problem.
do you have such a feature as well, or is it planned, or is there a workaround?

I have tried your plugin and wanted to ask if you also offer an optimization service?

I have tried many things in the past with caching, minifying, object cache, other hostings, but in the end the loading time of my website is always about the same and should eventually improve even with uncached pages and in the backend. But my hosting is not a bad one and is nowhere near the performance limits.

With your plugin I have now seen that Mailpoet and two other plugins take up a lot of loading time and have been able to eliminate them. This seems to have already had an impact. However, I can’t simply do without the others such as Rank Math SEO, Permalink Manager, WooCommerce and the Woodmart theme, and many others, or simply install alternatives.

How do you go about finding out whether plugins and themes conflict with each other or to find any weaknesses in the plugins? Which coders can and do this and where can I find them? And is it even possible to get a system with lots of plugins, page builder and a rather large theme like Woodmart up and running quickly?

Hi! Using the free plugin I’ve identified the problem on a slow site in that it opens about 6k files during one request. Does the File I/O operations tab of the pro versions show me a list of which files those are? There isn’t a screenshot of the result tabs specific to the pro version on the site, so maybe it’s useful to add those.

I’m using the Backup Migration plugin by nisev.

When I want to run the Code Profiler on the Website frontend I get a HTTP status code: 500 Internal Server Error.
PHP Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Attempt to assign property “STORAGE::LOCAL::PATH”.

Is there anything I can do to fix this or do I have to contact the Backup Migration plugin developer?

We are interested in using the Code Profile Pro plugin, but before purchasing the pro version, we have been testing the free version on our staging environment (https://staging.thnx.eu/).

Within the plugin settings, we have encountered three options for profile generation: website frontend, Custom post/URL, and admin backend. We have experimented with all three options, however, each attempt resulted in the same error: “The HTTP server returned the following error: 504 Gateway Time-out”. We attempted to mitigate this issue by selecting lower Accuracy and Precision levels in the Settings page, but the error persisted.

Even when we set the accuracy and precision to the lowest levels, the error remained consistent.

Despite numerous attempts, we managed to generate the profile for the homepage on occasion, but the process is unreliable. Sometimes, we encounter the following error: “Cannot connect to the requested page: cURL error 28: Operation timed out after 300000 milliseconds with 0 bytes received.”

The profile generation process is excessively time-consuming, and as a result, we find the plugin unsuitable for our needs.

Could you please provide us with more details regarding the issues we are encountering? We are eager to purchase the pro version, but it is imperative that the plugin functions correctly before we proceed with the purchase.

Hi. I’ve been profiling a slow website and the most noticeable result from Code Profiler is a very high number for ‘url_stat’ in the File I/O section. I see that this covers ‘all stat related functions’ but is there a way to get more granular data on what those functions might be to help with debugging?

Hi, the plugin freezes at the very first stage “Starting the profiler” when testing logged in admins (and dashboard, for instance)… I read debugging suggestion in a similar question below, but did not find anything, no issues reported… Any thoughts what to try? Thanks!

On the Plugin & Theme Execution Time page there’s a bar graph listing both plugins and themes, but to me at least, it’s not clear what exactly this page is measuring.

Number of requests?

Number of files loaded?

Assuming it’s requests, if I make a request at the start of page load, and at the end, does the profiler measure a full page execution time or does it add up the time the requests took?

I’m just looking for clarification on this tool measures on this measurement page.

When attempting to profile a backend wp-admin page via Elementor’s editor (eg, /wp-admin/post.php?post=14317&action=elementor), Code Profiler returns the following error:

The website returned the following HTTP status code: 403 Forbidden. By default, the profiler will always abort and throw an error if the server did not return a 200 HTTP status code. You can change that behaviour in the Settings section if the page you are profiling needs to return a different code (3xx, 4xx or 5xx).

I’m putting in the full URL and utilizing an admin user with no restrictions, so this should theoretically work…

Any ideas as to what could be causing this?

Odd one for ya. Running code profiler on a site homepage. It comes back with a 500 error. Server logs show:

AH01071: Got error 'PHP message: PHP Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 268435456 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 10000312 bytes) in path_to_wordpress/wp-content/plugins/code-profiler/lib/class-profiler.php on line 177'

Normally we’d just increase the memory_limit value in the PHP config for the domain in Plesk. The problem is the memory limit is already 1G even though the error is indicating it’s 256MB. Even the server-wide php.ini for this version of PHP is 512MB and not 256MB.

The Support tab in Code Profiler even confirms this, as does phpinfo().

I’m evaluating Code Profiler, and the tool seems to get stuck showing “Starting the profiler…” and not progressing.

I am only profiling the admin pages. Other admin pages I have used while the profiler was running were working fine.

We noticed that Code profiler was flagging that Patchstack would eat a huge amount of requests on the front end, so we turned to their support.

They see that big part of the issue might be Code Profiler somehow flagging WPML resources as something Patchstack would use.

Can you help us check if there is any kind of bug in your plugin on measuring the resource use?

I want to find out which requests result in these expensive script executions and log them so I can analyze them. However, I have no idea where and when these expensive script executions occur. Can I find out with the plugin? No matter whether with the free or the pro version.

From my local development wordpress site, I am trying to debug a situaiton that is resulting from within a specific theme. When I attempt to profile with this plugin, it stops 5 seconds into the process and says….

Hi there! Code Profiler plugin is great and easy to use.

But, I don’t understand one thing – when we run the profiling with the default options: Website frontend, Unauthenticated user; on the results page even the plugins which don’t gets used in the frontend operation of the site get displayed, adding up to the total page generation time.

These are the plugins I have on my test site:

1)All-in-One WP Migration, 2)Breakdance Builder, 3)Code Profiler, 4)LiteSpeed Cache, 5)NinjaFirewall (WP+), 6)Website File Changes Monitor, 7)Wordfence Security.

Among these plugins, plugins such as:

All-in-One WP Migration — exclusive for backup and migration.

Website File Changes Monitor — file changes monitor.  

Wordfence Security — Firewall is disabled and never set up, used only for Scan). 

These above-mentioned 3 plugins don’t have to be part of the page generation; yet on the Code-Profiling, it shows up. If at’ll these plugins is part of the page generation, tell me why that’s even necessary. Is it something like on WordPress this is how things work — all the active plugins add up page-generation time even if certain plugin’s features are not used in the front end?

Also, I am using LiteSpeed Cache — so does this mean – when the cache is served, page generation time is much slower and none of these plugins are put into action except the cache plugin?

I am currently making a new website for our company and I wanted to measure its performance with your plugin. The domain is currently still pointing towards the old hosting server with the old site and we are working on the new website by pointing the domain to the new ip-address locally via the hosts file. To measure the site’s performance I would need to be able to set the IP-Address for the HTTP Request.

Hi! Back again, this time with a request/suggestion. ?? I’m curious what your thought process was behind disabling opcache during the test in the mu-plugin and also using opcache_reset(); in ajax.php? I can see use cases where users may want to see the absolute raw data, however, having some sort of code caching system in place is quite common to help speed up code execusion. It would be great if you could maybe either add a filter or a checkbox in the settings allowing users to skip disabling/resetting the cache. That way we can see how the site performs with opcache enabled and where there are still bottlenecks. Thoughts?

In /lib/ajax.php you define 'timeout' => 300, // 300-second timeout instead of the default 5s. This is great. However, certain themes/plugins modify the cURL timeout settings using the http_api_curl action. Since your plugin never taps into this, the overridden settings are used. In some cases could be a mere 15s. This results in a cURL error 28 being generated after said 15 seconds (or whatever overridden value was used).

Fixing this is easy enough using the following code:

Is it possible the let the plugin press the ‘add to cart’ button on a page?

I am a vision impaired website owner and manager and use a screenreader, Jaws, to access the internet and my various websites.
This plugin sounds exactly like something I need and would really benefit from but it seems from checking out the free version that the results are all displayed graphically through charts?
Is there any way you could also output the results in text format so that I could read them?
Eg list the plugins, response times, DB queries etc etc all in text format.

That would make it possible to use the plugin.
I don’t mind if only add this to the Pro plugin as happy to buy and support development if I can use it.
