I’ve used other MagneticOne products in the past and they’re usually very good. In fact, full disclosure: I’m a referral partner.
That said, this product was far from good. I followed the video instructions and the migration failed half way through, corrupting my database and bringing my site down.
There are two very important bits of information which CMS2CMS has not indicated here:
1) There are 5 IPs that you need to whitelist before the migration.
2) Live chat may be available at any time, but the actual techs who can troubleshoot and fix problems are not available on the weekends.
It would have been nice to know that first.
I ended up using a free solution that was actually developed by the bbpress.org team, which worked perfectly: https://bbpress.org/forums/topic/smf-import-to-bbpress/

This should not be in the repository. A ‘free demo before paying’ is not very useful.
