I have been a loyal customer of CMS Commander for several years now. It was a straightforward backup tool which was about all I needed -until it quite working. I’d get it fixed and then an upgrade or something would happen and it would break -without any warning to me that it was broken. Which is not good with backups! Support, which is on an opposite time zone from the US, is slow to respond and difficult to navigate to find your own answers. The plugin update tool seems to work about 50/50 of the time.
The worst part is that if you use their service and get an annual license, which auto renews each year -without any notification via email to you- is that they will not refund any part upon cancellation! I asked for a prorated refund and this is what they said, “You are of course free to cancel your subscription at any time but please note that for yearly payments a partial refund of unused time is not a possibility. The point of the yearly payments is to offer you additional savings but at the cost of a longer time commitment.”
I’ve set my calendar to watch the upgrade this next year so it doesn’t slip by! Until then I’ll have to bite the bullet and put up with sub-par backup services. ManageWP with their $2/per site, per month backups is a MUCH better consistent service and deal!

Compared to other tools with CMS Commander i have all the options that are important to me in one single plugin: backup, site cloning, updates, even bulk plugin transfers from one to another site and many more. Clear overview of all my sites, settings, plugins, themes. With a simple and transparent subscription who covers all the great functionality, without extra plugins and subscriptions needed for some functionality, as it is with offers from the competitors.

I manage a lot of websites for clients and I have researched and tried many different WP management tools. CMS commander works amazing and gives the most bang for the buck. Responsiveness of the support is great.

I logged into my CMS commander account today looking to see if it had a very specific feature I need. I was thinking of moving to another manager if it was not there.

The coolest thing happened. I log in daily. But today. When I logged in looking for this special feature, there was a huge announcement at the top of the screen that the feature had just been added!!!

You read my mind. thank you thank you thank you!!!

Edit: It just keeps getting better. New (useful) features all the time.

We’ve made the switch from another well known WP manager to CMS Commander and haven’t looked back! We’re managing over 50 sites and everything runs great, from auto updates to auto backups. Support is very responsive and helpful as well. I couldn’t recommend this enough!

If you handle with several WordPress-Sites, CMS Commander give you the best overview. With one List you see, where are Updates of WordPress, Themes, Plugin, New Comments, Offline-Problems, Number of Backlinks, PageSpeed, Visitors by Google Analytics and Security Information’s. You can quickly act from only one Dashboard to start Updates, Backups, moderate Comments, add new Pages, Plugins or Themes in all of your WordPress-Sites. That’s great. I love it.

I’ve been using CMS Commander for about 6 months for 20 sites, across 3 ISP providers on 3 different servers from Los Angeles, New York and Singapore. I had my doubts at first. But, it’s a fantastic program that works flawlessly. I use CMS Commander daily. Backups, posting, admin access, plugin updates, theme updates, you name it, it does it. I’m impressed. I recommend it to anyone considering running multiple websites, it’s a must have!

Very useful and affordable service. I only have a few blogs but CMS Commander still saves a lot of time by backing them up automatically, approving new comments and updating everything from one place. Love the many integrated content sources as well. They help me add related images and ads to my new articles.

I tried the solution and have found many many issue right fromt he start. I don’t use out of the box WP and yes, I do use plugins, but hey, that should give these simple issues, like not being able to backup or update!

I tried getting help, but after starting a (support)ticket in may ’13 and not hearing anything really, I gave up in dec ’13 (yes, I wanted it to work and invested time etc).
The promised refund wasn’t ‘possible’ for the whole period … go figure.
Totally had enough of the inability to communicate and /or solve his issues.

DISCLAIMER: I had been beta-testing CMS Commander for some time before it was publicly made available, so I may be a little bit invested in the program’s success.

I have been using the full version of the plugin for a couple of years now, to manage more than ten WP websites, scattered around different web hosts, and would reccommend it to anyone looking to manage their websites from a central dashboard. Unlike most other similar programs, CMSC can manage Drupal and Joomla sites and even some forum software as well as WordPress, and the author has promised to keep supporting them in the future.

I have ‘only’ rated the program at four stars, because it is still not perfect, but I have found Thomas the author to be extremely receptive to constructive criticism, so I hope to be able to change the rating to a full five stars in the near future.

If you have more than one or two websites, and are spending too much time logging in and out of websites every day, this is a must-have plugin, and I can strongly reccommend the paid version if you have more than three or four sites to manage.

A great way to manage multiple weblogs – doing all your management tasks in bulk really saves a lot of time. The Flickr image and Amazon ads insertion for posts is very useful too.
