This may not be needed as strongly starting from WP 3.9 but still a good choice for larger flexibility if you don’t want to override gallery code.

Clean code and design and does exactly what it says and then more. Also works well with WP Gallery Custom Links and WP Featherlight (lightbox) plugins. Very good stuff! Thanks, Justin.

–edit–
After some clarification from the plugin author I modified this comment and the rating to go from 2 to 4 stars. Probably works well but I was unaware it cannot be used at the same time as Jetpack tiled gallery layouts.
–/edit–
Breaks the front end part of the jetpack tiled galleries. Was not able to verify the rest of the functionality of this plugin.

I really like how this plugin extends the default WP [gallery] shortcode and adds options in the settings to integrate the WP default ThickBox.js. In addition, he provides basic list of strong alternative LightBox scripts that you can download and install.

Great stuff, thank you – i wish i discovered it earlier.
Are you planning to add options for further customizing / removing classes (ie. column count etc) ? Even if not – it’s still a must have.

Very easy way to link an image in a gallery to a pdf.

Can’t find how to add gallery! Looked for the support forum, still no info. Will try to search around again.

I started using this plugin a couple of months ago – and I still like it.
Well done!

For our clients we needed to be able to use the filenames as the caption of pictures in our private galleries… Apparently NO ONE in the history of the internet has ever thought of this… But Cleaner Gallery made it happen with it’s “Use Title if No Caption is Present” option. It would have been nice if there was an explanation of how to install those other gallery scripts that it’s compatible with, but after an hour or two of messing around I figured it out. THANK YOU!

I needed to link thumbnails to the actual full size image and this finally helped me do that.

Nice clean HTML5 code, thanks.
Just a small bug:
When first saving the settings neither ‘Image Caption’ nor ‘Script and Style’ settings were checked. I set my defaults for linking etc and saved, but on refresh the Image Caption and Script and Settings checkboxes had become ticked by themselves.
And some feedback:
What would be really useful would be the option to apply the link to the caption as well as the image. I often need to float captions over clickable images, or at least have them clickable underneath the image, so this option would be the cherry on the top of a great plugin for me.
Thanks.

I have the Media Grid plug-in, but my client needed pagination, to be able to continually add images – this was the only solution that I was able to find. thanks!

I found this after doing some ridiculous manual grid styling to make the gallery grid responsive, trying to remove the ever-present
s and this was a perfect solution! A developer’s dream, I’d give it 15 stars if that was an option.
And no doubt about the code quality, I’d trust Justin Tadlock (can we say JT?) with my life.

]]>I’ve only tried out this and nivo slider and have to admit this one is much easier to figure out. Best use is for clean (no pun intended) business sites, but totally useful for personal sites if you like the minimalist thing. Working coding knowledge not necessary.

Smart plugin. Allows to customize native wordpress gallery. The greatest benefit, in my opinion, is ability to add navigation to wordpress gallery.

Ah I forgot about this plugin. Still so handy!

Thanks, great plugin. It would be good if something like this is eventually added to the WordPress core.

I use this plugin mainly for implementing lightbox-style enlargements.
It does what it says it does. Simple. Straightforward. Effective.
