I went to try this out, the first thing I see is it wants a agreement to their site terms. From what I saw this doesn’t look like a plugin that runs locally and uses your own server and resources.

This WordPress extension meets my expectations.
Although there’s no way to automatically display one or all signatures and their comments on a WordPress page or post via the Civist plugin, I can extract them in CSV format for later use.
On reflection, I find this even better, as I can select the results I want to display.
This is a petition, not a survey.
Also what is really appreciated is the support who is verry reactive.

While I can’t speak to the donation features, I needed a simple petition form and this was very easy to setup. I had an issue post installation that was addressed and fixed via support (and within the 48 hour window for free users)

Nowhere on the plugin sheet is the gigantic blows of this plugin for organizations: 300 Dollars + 5% commission per donation from 50,000 signatures !! No but it’s just crazy … Better to launch your own petition site for much cheaper and much more functional than this plugin!

You do not really have control over your petitions since the signatures are hosted in the cloud so this means that this plugin also has access to the signatures therefore the personal data of our signatories!

We cannot even modify the texts of the plugin … this plugin deserves to be only free with a 5% commission that’s all!

Anyway … for my part I absolutely do not recommend this plugin!

I am using Civist in my organization for all of our petitions and it has become the instrumental tool for all of our campaigns. It has very smooth modern design and is customizable enough to meet all your common campaign needs. It has successfully survived even big campaigns with tens of thousands of signatures in a matter of hours and we could easily rely on its functions. The support is very quick and capable of solving all the issues that appeared during the testing phases and the team is open to introduce new integrations and solutions. Definitely the best petition solution on the market.

I tried a few different petition plugins that didn’t work or the instructions were super-complex or they were taking way too long to figure out. Civist “just worked.” I had one thing I couldn’t figure out and support answered me the next day — great for free support. I really like that this plugin is open source and free for regular functionality, and you can pay more if you want more advanced features. It is also great for collecting information and keeping it on your own server so you “own” your own info. It’s also been great for low-income not-for-profits I volunteer for and I’m excited to get a more advanced project to try out the paid version on. Thanks, Civist!

I tried several, and this one is by far:
1. The easiest to add to your website
2. Out of the box email confirmation (using their service)
3. Transparent/GDPR compliant privacy policy which I simply copied and pasted onto my site for my own user notice
4. Easiest for configuring which fields you want your petition signup to display (email, Name, First Name, Country, subscribe, etc)–though I’d love it if there were a comments field too ??
5. I am having a bit of trouble getting the shortcodes to be responsive, but submitted a question to the support. I did use one of the other support questions and found the response from the plugin author very easy to implement (suppressing number of signers).
6. Only other feedback, I wish there was more documentation about how to manipulate what is shown by the plugin.

Had a very short lead time to get a petition running on our site. Just needed a straightforward plugin that worked reliably out of the box without a lot of setup or bells & whistles to sort through. Civist served that need perfectly. What’s more they responded very rapidly to a couple of changes I needed, replying within a couple of hours and rolling out a version with those updates within a day or so. Helped me meet a scary deadline and I can’t say enough about how pleased I am.

We’ve been with Civist from day 1 and it’s a pleasure growing with their team. Civist has become our go-to solution for running petitions and owning all the data which is something you don’t get on the big platforms. This also makes growing our email lists a lot easier – and our email list has been the key factor for our fundraising efforts.

I had an issue with something and two men David and Frank both replied very quickly and both were of so much help. They were very patient with me as well. Really excellent company. I checked out a few petition plugins and found Civist to be the easiest to use and most comprehensive. The colors of the petition are completely customizable and you can even use a photo for the background. Civist also includes a donation form and helps you setup fundraising! It’s a great plugin and the best thing about it? The support offered by the creator of the plugin is excellent! I had a question and the help offered was immediate and comprehensive.
