Thanks for a great plugin.
A feature that would make it even better is a button (link) to easily set the original publication date as the last modified date (similar to the “now” link in WordPress’ publication date modal). It would be useful in all situations when I’ve accidentally changed something in a post without first locking the last modified date.
Cloning the publication date to the last modified date would also solve the timestamp issue where the last modified date, accidentally, can be set to a time before the publication date (due to the lack of a field for seconds).
]]>I would like to add some text before the date. As it is the date just appears on the page and looks somewhat random. I would like to have a Text field before the date so I can type in things like “Last Modified on: xxxxxx”
]]>Hi there,
I’ve recently installed the plugin and I’ve found that in only works very occasionally, not sure why.
This morning, I edited 8 existing posts with very minor edits. For all of them, I toggled “Freeze Modified Date”, but weirdly in only kept the date for one of them. All others got updated.
Is there any other condition that make the plugin not work?
]]>Hi,
After upgrading the web server to PHP 8.0.9, the plugin simply disappeared from the sidebar in the Editor screen.
I downgraded back to PHP 7.4, the plugin appeared again.
Tested and observed the same behavior on local web server with WAMP.
]]>Hello, thank you for this very useful plugin. Could you add the functionality to change last modified date in post list quick view? … this could solve also the problem with all the builders and also for classic editor
Thank you!
]]>How can I set ‘Freeze modified date = checked’ as default?
]]>When I edit an existing page, I enable “Freeze modified date” and instantly the “Last modified” right above is changed to today.
While freeze date is active I cannot click the date to modify it, but if I disable and click the date link to set the date back to a past date, and then re-enable freeze date, it resets back to today.
If I repeat this, modify the date and do not re-enable freeze date, the previous date seems to stick sometimes, but not when I then edit the page in elementor.
If I edit in elementor, save, head back to wordpress edit, and the date is back to today. If I then set this back to the previous date, the backend still shows today’s date, but the frontend shows the previous date.
This seemed to work properly the first time I used it, and then it started functioning like this. I don’t think I added any other plugins etc, I don’t mess with this site much and only edit articles.
Thanks for your work, it’s a handy plugin.

]]>Hi,
The time I set in the editor is shown wrongly at the front-end:
In the editor:
Last modified
23 september 2020 22:14
On the front:
When using the_modified_date('j F Y H:s')
I get: 23 september 2020 22:00
Any idea why?

After the last update, the option on post edit doesn’t show up anymore. I’m using Classic Editor. Was working fine before the update.

When I check the check_box to prevent change of modified date, I ghave an error issue when I click on the blue update button.

The error is : 502 Bad Gateway
Whe I go back to the post, the update is ok.
It is just a bad look because the job is ok.
Thank you if you can fix this error,

Please update plugin for WP 5!
Please, please!
Hi @djuric,
This is a very minor issue that does not affect the plugin’s functionality at all.
I have debug mode enabled. In WP backend, when creating new post/page, until it is saved for the very first time (as draft or published) I get an ugly error message:
Notice: Undefined index: stopmodifiedupdate in …/wp-content/plugins/change-last-modified-date/update-last-modified.php on line 243
I am sure this can be easily prevented.
Thanks again for this great plugin!
