How I can use widget for authorization?

Dear Support,

I am creating this topic here, because I am getting an error creating the topic on the BP support forum!

After upgrading to version 12, all the member pages, such as the Profile, Activity, Notifications, Messages, etc., are completely empty. Before the update, everything was showing without any issues.

I have installed the BP Classic Plugin, but it didn’t solve the problem.

Another issue is that I am getting an “Server Error 403 Forbidden – You do not have permission to access this document” on the Members page

Do you have any idea what the cause may be and how I could solve it?

I recognize that BuddyPress is free software operated by unpaid volunteers and am grateful for the work that has been put into it to support tens of thousands of sites. With no paid version available, we are grateful for the efforts to respond to individual inquiries.

I am working on a small site, https://www.varsityed.com, on the side of a full-time job, so I don’t make the progress many professional site developers do.

I use BuddyPress with the third-party add-on Youzify from KaineLabs. I have come to learn that it seems the relationship between the two is like this: BuddyPress is the car (works well, is functional, and gets you where you want to go), and Youzify is the “trim” (nice paint and wheels, leather interior, fancy stereo).

With BuddyPress 12.0 in December 2023, I must have run into the same issues as others; I am just realizing it now while working on it in my spare time. Noticing the issues, I reached out to my Youzify team via a paid support program.

I understand that this is a very specific combination of two plugins; however, I was hoping that being able to correct these issues may serve to help the core team address more third-party issues and help site developers when running into issues with this or similar plugins.

After about four days of research, testing, and discussion, here is where I am and am seeking counsel:

• WordPress 6.4.3.
• Theme: Elementor Hello 3.0.1
• BuddyPress 12.2.2.0
• Youzify 3.4.8

YOUZIFY activated, BP Classic deactivated:

• Five BuddyPress pages missing
• GROUPS does not work at all (I recognize that it was not working properly with it on). As you can see, the pages do not populate with content:

Why are registered users and members unable to use the “create topic” function on my site, as somehow it’s only available for guests, non-registered members, and admins?

I’ve been trying for an entire week, and none of the topics on the support page helps at all.

I had to reset my forum and loosing contents in the process, hoping the reset and fresh installs would fix the issue but it’s still thesame.

Buddypress login redirects to WordPress login at first try. Then I click to go back and enter the password fir a second time and I get logged in to the profile as it should be. Any ideas?

I’ve looked at various media plugin for BuddyPress like rtmedia but I can’t seem to find anyone that offers users the ability to mark a photo as sensitive and for users to hide or show sensitive media via settings. It’s like the most basic social gallery feature but no plugin is offering this. Suppose I build an artist community like DeviantArt through BuddyPress, which should allow artists the ability to follow their passions which may include sensitive to some. Is custom development the only solution?

Buddy Press plugin is conflicting with my NewsPaper theme from 4 Nov 2021 but it was working fine since 3 years i dont understant why it is conflicting now because when i activate this plugin it is showing a error message “thecivilengineerings.com is currently unable to handle this request. HTTP ERROR 500” so please guide me how can i fix this issue. When I am deactivate this plugin then my website is working fine. For several months, I have not been able to modify the fields of the profiles. When I click on edit I have this error message:
Sorry, you do not have permission to access this page.

Same thing when I want to go to network Buddypress settings. The plugin doesn’t recognize me as a super admin I get the impression.

I’m also on the buddypress.org forum but no response yet.

When we tried to deactivate buddypress it crashed two of our two dedicated servers.

One with openlitespeed and the other with Apache!
The first one even lost all data!!

Lucky we had a backup, but still. I think buddypress has some mayor bug somewhere.

I have switched to BuddyPress for user registration. This is while that I had “Ticked” the “anyone can register” option in the (settings –> general) from already. I am not sure if this was the spam source, however, I can say that there are spam registrations to the site. Having an online chat with one of the WordPress techies, they said that I need to “Remove the Tick” from the “anyone can register” option. But they were not sure if this could potentially cause any problem into BuddyPress, specially in the registration process of BP. Does anyone know if removing the “anyone can register” option may cause a problem in BP?

I have the WPML plugin, my site have 4 languages, spanish as principal, then english, fran?aais and Português, all translation works fine except Português, the sentences are shown in English.

When a use registers he gets a validation email.
When he click this link the first time the page is blank (btw it validates user but shows blank page).
All other hits to this specific url load successfully but only the first show a blank page.

Anyone can help why this happens?

[well, I would have posted this to buddypress.org/support/ but after 2 attempts resulting in a 404 each I got kinda fed up with that. So, I’m trying my luck here:]

Hey, team @buddypress;
your last update apparently changed something vital in the way loading of activities works on WordPress’ frontend, because that suddenly stopped working under certain circumstances.

I first thought it was something to do with our using Jannah theme by @tielabs, but the issue persists even if I switch theme/s. (I do realize not all themes fully support BuddyPress, but I invested some searching ’til I found some loading normally under similar circumstances + then went thru the usual drag of switching of plugins and reactivating them one by one to identify the trouble source.)

One plugin that definitely has some influence is “Glossary” by @codeat (see below); but that’s probably not the entirety of it (because on e.g. theme “SocialMag” (which says it supports BuddyPress) activities do not load regardless of Glossary being active or not). Either way, I’m guessing this might have something to do with HeartBeat / Ajax handling, because disallowing HeartBeat on FrontEnd also stops activities from loading, so maybe that’s a pointer on where to start looking.

How to reproduce the issue regardless of plugin/s :

– install + activate free “SocialMag” theme;
– install + activate BuddyPress;
– open page with activities on frontend (which will not be loading then).

How to reproduce the issue with Glossary :

– install + activate free “Twenty Nineteen” (default) or “Custom Community” theme;
– install + activate BuddyPress;
– install + activate Glossary;
– open page with activities on frontend (which will not be loading then);

– deactivate Glossary;
– reopen page with activities on frontend (which will be loading then).

How to reproduce the issue by tinkering with HeartBeat :

– install + activate any BuddyPress-supporting theme;
– install + activate BuddyPress;
– check if activities load properly;
– if they do, use HeartBeat Control to disallow HeartBeat on FrontEnd
– open page with activities on frontend (which will not be loading then);
– re-allow HeartBeat on FrontEnd;
– reopen page with activities on frontend (which will be loading then).

Wordpress Version used : 5.0 (always the latest)
BuddyPress Version used : 4.1.0 (always the latest)
issue page : e.g. https://liberal.is/aktivitaet/

We’ve installed BuddyPress on a client’s site. During an orientation for the members of the organization we noticed a bug in IE that we’d like to make you aware of so it can be fixed in a future update.

When you try to send a private message to someone (from their profile page) .. the red line that appears under that persons’s name does NOT have the same text as it has on Chrome, i.e., “Add Additional Recipients”.

Hope this can be fixed … because it’s the default first entry point of data … and it’s not clear what to type in there if you’re using IE !

– I already tried deactivating buddypress dependent plugins
– I already got rid of buddypress custom code in function.php etc
– It’s not a buddypress theme (only compatible)

So why is it still giving me the white screen error??

If I just delete all buddypress folders and buddypress mysql tables, will that fix this? Thanks
