Hi,

I use this plugin with BuddyBoss. It’s stopped working and I’ve implemented a fix locally. I wanted to push this to your repository, but the code on Github is not the same as in the plugin here. This means I can’t really work out what’s going on.

The issue with the download version seems to be that in class-bp-notifications-widget.php. $notifications can be set as a string. The rest of the code expects it to be an array.

That file is different on Github than it is in the current version of the plugin to download. My local fix, based on this download version, just modifies the code around line 45:


// will be set to false if there are no notifications.
		if ( empty( $notifications ) ) {
			$count = 0;
		} elseif (is_string($notifications)) {
			$notifications = array($notifications);
			$count = 1;
		} else {
			$count = count( $notifications );
		}

When there are no notifications, the plugin says

“You don’t have any new notification.”

Standard English would expect that to be

“You don’t have any new notifications.”

Any chance that can be changed in an update at some point?

Thanks for this widget.

It seems that notifications from bbPress, which is installed alongside BuddyPress, are being combined and don’t clear. For example, if people have replied to me on three separate bbPress threads, I get a notification in the widget that says I have 3 new replies. I click on this single link and it takes me to one of the replies, but it doesn’t then clear the notification or reduce the number, or let me access any of the other replies. I would expect it to show a separate notification for each reply, and perhaps be more explicit about what the reply was (forum, rather than message).

This seems to make the widget unusable when bbPress is installed, but I can see it’s widely used so am I missing something obvious here?

How do I make the widget show only notifications with the appropriate ‘component_name’?
The ‘component_name’ value is specified when creating the notification and I want to refer to it to check if the notification has the value I need and then show the notification in the widget.

Thank you for the plugin. A great addition for the buddypress. However, I have a question. How can you make your amazing plugin show a widget over activity stream? in a non-standard place. I would like the wigdet in the mobile version to be visible at the very top of the page, not at the bottom, so that the user first sees a few selected notifications and only later the activity. Great plugin!

I’m trying to get a thin border line below/between each list item, so they are easier to differentiate.

I’ve tried this css with no luck:

	border-bottom-width: thin;
	border-bottom-style: solid;
	border-bottom-color: #666666;
}

Any suggestions of how to accomplish such a feat?

Hi, after update to version 1.2.0 my translation files not work anymore.
What are the correct translation files file names and path?

I rollback to previous version 1.1.2 and in this version, my translation files works:

Hi Brajesh, I have my website hosted with WP Engine, who employs a significant amount of caching. This has resulted in the Notifications Widget not clearing once the “[X] clear notifications” is clicked. Initially it looks like it clears, then when the page is reloaded or the user navigates to a new page it reappears with the same notifications.

WP Engine asked if there is a cookie that is set once it’s cleared so they could exclude it from the cache. Does the widget use cookies or anything else that may offer a solution?

On the desktop layout the clearing issue isn’t a big deal, but on the mobile version it cause a some layout issues. My BuddyDev membership lapsed a few days ago, but thanks for all your plugins and support!

Current Versions of WordPress Multisite and BuddyPress.
