Now that the mute function applies to groups too, I can thoroughly recommend this extremely useful plugin.

Just installed it on my local site & so far, seems to work perfectly. The first of two suggestions would be to add the Mute button below each user’s post under all activity fields (currently, you must visit the user’s profile in order to mute them).
The other suggestion would be to extend the mute function to across all BuddyPress streams. Currently, posts from muted users still show up under any groups that you both belong to. 4-star plugin now, 5-star if/when those features are added.

Plugin can be used by anyone to mute anyone. I had several subscribers who muted other subscribers “just for fun”. Had to disable plugin for that reason alone.
