In the “What’s New” form on the activity page, when I go to upload a doc it asks me to please select the group to which I would like to upload the doc. Unfortunately, there’s no box or ability to select this group.
Current versions of buddpyress and wp.

When we click on a link on our website, we are redirected to our homepage instead of getting the actual document.

The file size appears correctly and the number of “downloads” is incremented after trying(even though we don’t get downloads).

Our upload directory was made by someone else and has three levels.

Does Buddypress Group Documents work with Buddypress 1.7? I went to the github page for the plugin and uploaded it into the plugins folder for my site, activated it…I see it on the sidebar…but I don’t see it being implemented in the groups at all. Am I doing something wrong? I’ve heard conflicting things whether or not this plugin truly works for bp 1.7. Please advise. Thanks!

I am a Group Documents plugin user from China. It’s a great plugin and helps me a lot.
I just found a bug in the plugin. When I connect Microsoft Office 2010 through XML-RPC to my WordPress website, I found there’s error happened. But when I close Group Documents plugin, it went well. I think there must be some error in the plugin.
Could anyone tell me why the bug exists and how to remove the error from the plugin please?

After uploading a document, if the user clicks ‘edit’ the page doesn’t then scroll down to the edit form, so the user has no clue that it’s there if the list of existing documents extends off the bottom of the page.

so the group widget that sorts by last active, doens’t get updated when i upload a new document. it registers in the group activity feed but not in the last active table.

Downloading Microsoft Word documents from a group’s Documents works fine in all browsers except Internet Explorer. When using this (dreadful) browser, downloading Microsoft Word documents from any group, IE misinterprets the file type – it thinks they are .zip files. Simply changing the file extension from .zip to .doc or .docx is a work-around we’d prefer not to resort to. Anyone know what will resolve this?

I love your plugin. Is there a way to get the document total to show up. Since I have totals for all my other things in the group window people think the Documents page is empty because it doesn’t show a count.

The permalink in the buddypress nav is wrong.
Here a bugfix:

Search in the plugindirectory->bp-document->index.php
$groups_link = $bp->root_domain . ‘/’ . $bp->groups->slug . ‘/’;

and replace with
$groups_link = $bp->root_domain . ‘/’ . $bp->groups->root_slug . ‘/’;

I hope in the next update this bug is fixed ??

In the admin of Group Documents it is telling me that the max upload size is 8MB. I’m trying to upload a PDF that is 3.6MB but it fails and gives me the message: “There was a problem; your file is larger than is allowed by the site administrator.”

I can’t see anywhere to change this allowance. Help.

One of our documents was given a description containing single quotes. After saving, the description was shown with slashes appended in front of the quotes.
Fixed it for my setup by editing index.php around line 386 and replacing

Buddypress version 1.2.9
Using version 0.3.5 of the group docs plugin.

It lets me create the document from the group.
Once I have created it and saved it, it will never show again in the group.

If I go into the admin section I can see the documents have been created and exist.

profile-builder had been updated successfully to v1.1.9. Was able to recover by replacing bp-group-documents/index.php with older file from version 0.3.5.

hi I am using the latest version of buddypress with multisite. I was quite happy with this plugin.But after upgrading buddypress to the latest release I am unable to go to the settings page of Group Documents. Can any body help me with this please. As I have to enable ,zip files uploading.

By default the uploads go to wp-content/uploads/groupname

I’d like to change to have them in wp-content/uploads

The changelog shows “Added document folder location override ability” in 0.2.5 but I can’t find where to go to actually make an override.

First of all, thanks for all your work! This plugin would really suit our needs for handling documents in our community’s site. But one small thing is keeping us from using it: the way documents are unprotected.

I’ve created new public, private and hidden groups and uploaded documents to all of them.
The link to any document (although somewhat obfuscated) can be used by any user to get access to that document. All he needs to do is guess the correct url. There is no need to log in to proof group membership.

I know a question similar to this came up earlier, but that topic has been closed. Any news on the subject?

This one plugin is making the BP installation I’m doing a reality since I need the ability for students and teachers to upload documents within groups. Peter has been amazing and responsive and the current version fixes an incompatibility issue that broke the doc upload function menu item from appearing.

I am fully updated in WP and BP. I have group documents working fine on its own but the “Recent Group Documents” widget is not showing anything and document uploads in the activity stream for a group shows no content, just uploader, time stamp, etc.

Did anyone get this plugin working with BP 1.5 RC1?

The tab option “Documents” is not showing on group pages and I’m guessing bp_core_new_subnav_item() or related functions have been changed.

The admin option tab is there however, linking to /groups/[groupname]/admin/documents/

I tried to manually enter /groups/[groupname]/documents/ but no luck… it’s a 404.

After upgrating WordPress 3.1.3 with Buddypress 1.2.6 to WordPress 2.3.1 the BP Group documents plugin does not work.
I can see the upload button but after click nothing happens.

I’m pretty sure there is an incompatibility issue because there is no problem when I use same plugin with the WP 3.1.3 (in another test site with same settings).

Now there are 2 options: downgrade wordpress or hopping for a solution by the developer…

Does anybody know whether or not this plugin can be made to work outside of the BuddyPress environment? Or do you know of any similar plugins that don’t require BuddyPress?

We’re trying to do the exact same thing for a WordPress site that doesn’t use BuddyPress, and I haven’t been able to find any similar plugins that are designed to work outside of the BuddyPress environment.
