It is great search plugin for BuddyPress!
Ignore all the bad reviews and ratings.
Although it is not updated since 2019 the plugin works perfectly with WordPress 5.7 and BuddyPress 7.2.1
It works great with global search, finding everything in blog posts, pages, users profiles, BP activity stream and everything you sett it for.
It even puts the results in tabs, to show where the results are found.
I see complains about the HTML structure.
The HTML structure is perfect with theme Newspaper. I had to make one only small adjustment for margin.
I highly recommend this plugin.

This plugin is great downgrade to built in posts search, it will hardly find any WordPress post, horrible experience.
This plugin will find BuddyPress members and some similar things if you know what exactly to search in BuddyPress.

Provides a good ajax search for every post type, and works great.
But the search results page form’s HTML structure is horrible: it uses br tags everywhere and absolute positioning, and has the serach icon not inside a common div block with the search button, which makes it a pain to fix integration problems with CSS.

Very nice. The Ajax search works. But, when I click on all results, it breaks my search results page. It must be the way my theme is set up. To be fair, this could be a rare problem that only a few people will experience.

This plugin was almost awesome….
It (seemingly randomly) doesn’t show all results as it should / claims, and support isn’t responsive.
For some reason, it just sometimes doesn’t show valid search results. At least two people have reported this issue, with examples, but no response from BuddyBoss:

This is very useful for users when they are looking for an article. I use it for a “Frequently Asked Questions” article where h2 tags contain the keywords.
Only thing I would change (if possible) would be:
1) In the search window, return the words (+-5 words) around the word or words that the user searched for. Right now it always returns the text from the top part of a page.
2) When going to the page of interest, it would be great if the page was automatically scrolled to the section which contained the relevant words.
