Hello
This plugin is something that could fix some features I need on my site, but unfortunately this plugin breaks the “groups” settings from backend and comes up with a critical error.
When going to Dashboard > Groups > *GroupName*
The page is “frozen” and all messed up. Something in this plugin needs to be updated.
Would be amazing with an update to fix this. ??
No update for a long time. Is this abandon plugin? Too bad such good potential.
]]>Hi,
When a user creates a new group and selects Fan Page instead of Group during the BP Group creation process, then when clicking next to go to the next Group setup tab, the WordPress site crashes. Would be great if you could resolve this bug?
Thanks.
]]>The announcement tab goes to a 404 error. When I look at the url, it isn’t pointing at groups, it’s pointing at forums. Does this plugin require bbpress to also be installed to work properly in buddypress?
]]>It seems that the “Fan Pages” link in Profile does not work. When clicked, it displays ALL Groups instead of Fan Pages only.
Look forward to your reply and assistance.
]]>Hi, I am trying to use this on a multisite buddypress installation. I have used it on a single site in the past and it worked great but when I activate it on a multisite site it does give me any fan page options or anything under the Groups menu. Is it possible to make this work with Multisite?
]]>Hi, @venutius
thank you for this useful plugin. I needed this plugin but I did not pay attention because of its name.
All I want is a Group2Page plugin and this plugin does the work, but the problem is Labels and Slugs. Why limit its potential to fan pages only?
People may want to create a personal page to test a project or a professional page to showcase their work and be hired. Or just a restricted group but not necessarily for fans.
This plugin is excellent for this task. Well, I renamed Labels (Fan Page to Public Page, Private Fan Page to Private Page….)
As for the slugs, in order to avoid a probable conflict with wp pages I renamed them
to “ppage”, “ppages”. The initial p stands for personal/professional.
I think that it is not easy for someone who wants to do the same thing, if they are not comfortable with code.
I strongly recommend to rename the plugin, for example “Group2Page”, “Restricted Group”, “Group Controls”…. whatever you think, with neutral labels and slugs in order to unlock its potential.
And this potential is enormous, because you can add various restrictions as options. For example: let group creator decide restrictions for the memberlist (now the memberlist is hidden by default), activity commenting, … and support for other plugins.
Well, I used the line 174 to integrate some restrictions for plugins: mediapress uploads, publishing for BP Event Manager, sharing for BuddyPress Activity Social Share… So your plugin is very useful to restrict other plugins also.
PS If you decide to change the slug, you should avoid “gpages” because it will have a conflict with Slaffik’s plugin BP Group Extras
In any case, I will give it a 5-star review, because it deserves it.
