Hi i am using the plugin and its brilliant, is it possible to amend this to only save the users city / country. I want it to be displayed on their profile but if they enter their full address it shows on their profile and i dont want other people having this access to this information but they do need to see their rough location.

I found it from a link for using bp profile search to be able to search within X miles.

However my location field will not auto suggest when typing but if I click a pin at the end of the field it can auto fill a full address which I don’t want. I was planning to put a hint to request just town and city but without the auto suggest this will not work. I also want to set it to just suggest from UK and not international if possible?

Instead of displaying members in the distance search. Is it possible to return local forum topics and replies in the search results?

People aren’t currently able to register because of the location/Google Maps error.

Hello, I searched the support forums for the words exclamation points and !, but did not find anything related, sorry if I missed it.

My issues is that when I click in the box on my profile to enter my location, as soon as I type the first letter, the box fills in with red exclamation points. How can I make this work? (I set it up from the screen shots displayed on the BP Distance Search plugin page, also setup google maps api – or at least I have the api key from google – I hope I have the correct settings). The site is not live yet, and I am the only user). It is important for my users to be able to find each other based on their distance from each other and a few other criteria.

Hi there, I’m using this code snippet to remove the actual position of profiles in Members Directory for the sake of privacy rules. But it would be nice to be able to display the distance instead, is it possible to change the code to display distance instead in km?

2: miles/km

I would love to just display a range slider instead that combines the number and m/km together.

When trying to type in the name of the city of residence the form freezes after the first letter is typed in. I have the API key installed so I am not sure what I am doing wrong.

I just want the plug-in and form it��s on to have its own page within my site (not added to the members page), then when a search is done it will switch over the the members directly to display the filter findings.

Is this possible?

I want to know i can get additional features like

1. members search order by distance.
2. Display distance in profile tiles in serch results.
3. In serch for address take from geolocation api Html5 from mobile phone browser lat lng data

A members location is not being saved on their profile page.  However, if you go to edit the profile page, then you can see the original location that was entered.  Do you know why location would be stored on the edit profile page rather then the actual profile view?  

I am using xprofile fields plugin and BP Distance Search Plugin.

Also, are you able to tell me where this location data gets stored.  Does it store the data in mysql?

Out of all my fields, it seems like my location data behaves differently, or is stored differently.  I am not sure why.  Any advice is much appreciated

I have problems setting up the BP Distance Search.

I added the Profilefield properly with an API key, but everytime I start typing, an error occurs (see link – under “Teilnehmerinnen in deiner Umgebung”). The same error occurs when setting a Place in the Profile.
I already tried changing the theme and switching off almost all plugins.

All was working fine since today I noticed that the distance search widget is not working anymore. You could try… it is not filtering using distance and it doesn’t appear any error on the console.

The other widgets from BP Search are working fine. The only problem is with distance filtering.

I wish you could help me.

I’m really grateful to you for BP Search and this plugin, but I had some issues that let me a little bit lost…

1) As you can see on the link to my page, the icon on the distance search button is missing. I already read other previous topics and none of the solutions worked for me. It’s strange because I can see the icon when I’m logged in, but not when I access the website as a guest.

2) The distance search field didn’t work properly… First of all, the user has to enable the Google Geolocation (I don’t need that form what I want on my website, that is just a city searcher) to use the widget. Then, you can type and select whatever you want… when you press the button, changes to the location of the user (another reason why I want to disable geolocation). And finally, it does nothing… the filter is not working.

3) Another concern is about the BP Search shortcode: I had to actualize the page on the page editor every time I made any change related to users or I purge the page cache… if not, the page appears as blank. This is not very useful…

How can we solve that?

I have a plugin called BuddyPress Xprofile Custom Field Types. I have created a field in this plugin which uses this BP Distance Search. It basically allows the user to enter there location during register, then select from the auto complete Google API list.

BP Distance search is a great plugin, but only if the user selects their locaiton from the list. I am having an issue where my users choose to type in there location such as a postcode, and not pick from the list. If they do not choose from the list, then their location is not saved in the database. That users location is then not taken into account when certian features are used on the website.

Is there a way I can force users to pick from the predefined locations within the Google autocomplete list?

Hello, first congratulations and thank you for this plugin.

I find that it would be even better if it were possible to make the choice ourselves in forms (and not the user) of the selection choice. For example: List of members having only the role of “author”, by adding at the end of the line a field of “forcing the value of the field” with “author”, so in this example I will select only “author” (myself … and not the users on the post).
This addition would be a real improvement for your plugin !
