I am having major problems with TotalUpkeep Premium uploading to Google Drive. This worked before, but I realized it hadn’t worked for some time. I ReAuthorized it yesterday, and then got dozens of emails saying I had a new backup, and

* end: 2024.10.19 11:00:13 pm” But, every half hour or so.

SO, I researched all over this forum. Ended up Deauthorizing the Google Drive connection. Then uninstalling and reinstalling the plugins (both Total Upkeep and Total Upkeep Premium). Then RE-Authorized the Google Drive connection. The frequency of the emails diminished to just about every 2 hours, for a while. Then, I got an email from my hosting company that I was using too much space – but still only found the 2 most recent backups (just right, per my instructions). But I keep getting fails.

I see that in previous comments like this, you request logs, so I’ll paste mine below. Looks like the failures are seeking some very old backups, which, of course, aren’t on the hosting company’s server anymore. But, the ones I had in there (I eliminated one, to shut my hosting company up) never went up to the Google Drive. My backups are only about 275Mb, and I have over 12GB available to me on my Google drive. So, definitely not out of space. Here’s the log:

I am trying to get clarity on how to resolve the problems I am having since I migrated to Hostinger – I can perform simple backups with few files but when I try to backup my wordpress site it fails during the write phase. I have checked the memory and diskspace and even timing settings with PHP but can’t find anything. Long running Processes have up to six minutes to complete and as you can see by the log the amount of memory used is well within the limits. My assumption is that Hostinger is killing the backup because it stops during the write phase but I am at a loss as to which setting is causing the problem.

I can do backups with another service but it takes much longer what I am used to with Boldgrid.

Comments are appreciated and I will post results of suggested changes.

I configured FTP/SFTP but the backup file from the server does not automatically transfer the backup copy to FTP/SFTP storage (I even unchecked ‘Web Server’ for backup storage). Is this a normal behaviour / limitation for FREE version?

I have been having issues with the plugin, as it seems like there are issues which prevent me from interacting with the settings. When I open the plugin’s setting pages (e.g. “backup” or “transfers”), WordPress reports that a “catastrophic failure” has occurred and sends me an email which reports the following:

I logged into my blog today and my total upkeep says it is the free version. I have a subscription with premium 2 years now. I reenter the key and it says thank you for adding your key then the page refreshes back to free. I can create a backup (and transfer it to the local machine), but there are some issues:

  1. backup is stored on the web server, while this option was not selected;
  2. FTP storage fails with “Unable to create backup directory on remote host”, while my FTP client can do so, with exactly the same credentials;
  3. All logs contain a lot of messages “Cannot add signal handlers, pcntl_async_signals function does not exist.” It was suggested in other bug reports to enable process control, but this seems to be the case here:

    pcntl support => enabled
    Furthermore, I don’t find any reference to pcntl in the php.ini files.
  4. The file size of my backup is reported as “File size: -25329934 B“.

My site is database driven with MySQL. In order to use the database there has to be a lot of PHP code written. Unfortunately the only way custom PHP is supported is using the plugin snippet. Due to bugs in the plugin some of the things I would like to do cannot be done. Is there a better way to do custom database driven sites in this theme or is it just for simple websites?

Hey,

I just setup a Cloud WordPress site and a Snap, but when viewing the site its not using the theme I chose when creating the Snap. Do I need to connect to Snap to the Cloud WordPress Site somehow, if so how?

Also importantly, the Cloud WordPress backend is just a list of bare bones html links. Please advice.

I’m unable to generate a site backup. This did work in the past. I’ve been in touch with my hosting provider and they helped me increase some of the resource limits in my phprc file. I asked about turning off FastCGI and they said it’s no longer available as an option in the control panel, but they can do it for me upon request. I wouldn’t mind trying that, but I don’t want to have to ask them every time I want to switch, and I’m concerned that having FastCGI off all the time may harm my website’s performance.

I’m hosting on DreamHost. I read your troubleshooting article and changed the compressor in settings to “System zip” before my latest attempt (failed as before) – see below:

Backups are scheduled to occur before automatic plugin updates and once a week. When complete, an email is sent to the admin. These emails show various random subdomains. For example, the subject lines read:

  • Backup?completed?for?[IP ADDRESS]
  • Backup?completed?for?ourdomain.com
  • Backup?completed?for?shop.ourdomain.com
  • Backup?completed?for?acorn.ourdomain.com

This seems to indicate some kind of configuration error that causes backups to be made with these various subdomains and the raw IP ADDRESS. This list is a small sample of the many strange subdomains it displays, all of which seem randomly generated. We do not use these subdomains on our site.

Backups are synced to Google Drive, and here the subdomains also appear as distinct subdirectories within /Boldgrid Backup

Any ideas for how to fix this?

Hi team ,

I just installed Total Upkeep. However, in the preflight check the very first message I see is “Total Upkeep is not compatible with your hosting account.?“

It also does not detect tar and zip on the VM. I have checked personally by logging onto the VM that tar and zip are available. I use cloudways for my hosting

Appreciate any help to get this fixed.

Hi Total Upkeep,

We’re trying your plugin on an older WP site to create a clone for local development using the ‘Transfer’ option.

We’ve created a backup and used it as Source to create a link.

Then used the link to import as Destination in the local WP instance.

The import tries to work for about 10-15 minutes before returning the error:

Could not reach the URL address. HTTP error: 405 (Not Allowed)

Is there a problem with the Source server or WordPress instance that is not allowing the link to work?

hello i had a wp multisite on ppsite.top (site 1)

i created a new nonmultisite , site on pp.ppsite.top (site 2) on a different host

i took a backfrom ppsite.top (site 1)

and i uploaded that backup on pp.ppsite.top (site 2)

but now pp.ppsite.top (site 2) is inaccessible.

what could be the reason?

do i have to change the domains?

if yes then how?
