Tried this with two really simple websites (one only has a single page!) and both failed

My website is WordPress basic website with blog and very few uploads. I checked Migration Plugin upload directory where all ZIP packages are: for DB, for Pluggins and for UPLOADS. All of them were closed 1 hour ago but plugin progress is still stuck at the last task and it wont finish. How long should I wait?? It says : Packaging Uploads…

It’s faulty and does not work and left you with troubles!

All I get from this plugin in a message saying “Something went wrong. Try again later.”

Thanks for the buggy ride. I tried it on three sites and I can’t get it to work on any of them. So much for an easy way to move a site to Bluehost. I love their hosting. This plug in – not so much. Don’t waste your time and effort.

This is simply terrible. Tried this plugin with a simple website, with a couple of plain html pages and it simply doesn’t work. The biggest surprise to me is how come Bluehost is listed on the recommended hosting services for wordpress.
This comment is not only about the plugin. Many small details while dealing with the admin settings on Bluehost page are also non-intuitive or frustrating by the lack of options. This plugin is just a small example of the experience the user will have with Bluehost… Stay away from Bluehost!

The plugin is not working at all.

Don’t bother, it doesn’t work. I followed the instructions exactly. Three hours after starting the process, I was still staring at the “Cloning your website” screen, wondering if it would ever finish packaging the uploads and start transferring my website. I can’t tell you if it did or not because I have to leave for work. What a waste of time.

Bluehost is the worst hosting I’ve seen in my life, I paid for three years, used it for 6 months, the site went down and they couldn’t restore it. They can’t solve the problem, they don’t refund the money. When you see the name Bluehost, run away. dfx.uuk.mybluehost.me – this is my main domain on Bluehost (so that Bluehost employees do not write that my review is anonymous).

it is not working only showing processing

Seems to be like everyone else says…stuck on “packaging dropins” for the past few hours. Bluehost support said to use another method. So I guess it doesn’t work.

Left the “quick and easy” clone process running all night . . . and when I woke six seven hours later the process STILL hadn’t completed. Not even sure it was actually working at all.

Backup appeared to work successfully, but when I hit the button to log back into the Bluehost site, it gave me a login failure. Immediately told support I wouldn’t be paying for migration – so they spent an hour trying to get me to get a token. The most frustrating ridiculous experience I’ve ever had.

It looks like your site didn’t transfer.
We might have gotten disconnected, or there could be something else going on. Let’s figure it out.
Call us at 888-401-4678Try Again
And then charges you insane amount to migrate your site to their hosting! DANG!

Come on Bluehost, it’s as clear as day this plugin doesn’t work. Look at your reviews. It looks like a way for them to create an additional charge for their customers.
If you’re migration plugin doesn’t work, that’s your fault. You shouldn’t be charging us because of your shortcomings.
You should be giving us free migration until you fix the plugin.

Bluehost sales rep told me, “Our migration tool works w/ 90% of WP websites…”
Apparently, (cough, cough) ours is one of the (cough, cough) “10%.”

Even my simple sites cant be migrated. Says Ill need the pros to do it.
The pros Cost $150 per site.

Please do not use this plugin, do not rely on it. It gave me major headaches. It was supposed to just transfer the site after a site migration, but this plugin let me down. Find another way to transfer your site, not with this plugin.

Never ever use this plugin. Very horrible experience with this plugin and as well as the Bluehost migration process is so much delayed… This plugin should be removed from www.remarpro.com

Plugin didn’t work. After purchasing hosting, I’m told that they can only migrate it for an additional cost, because this migrator plugin only works to migrate from wordpress.com to wordpress.com, and not when the open source software from www.remarpro.com was used to build the original site.

horrible experience

Signed up for bluehost, bought a domain, they OFFERED a ONE time free migration of my existing site to my new domain.. so I installed plugin and went through the 1 time only site migration steps.
After 4 days, NOTHING, so i called and customer rep tells me I have to pay $149 dollars for the transfer, I explained it was offered to me as a FREE ONE TIME MIGRATION, they say I was told lies, there is no free transfer, I explained it was offered to me and display the FREE offer in their website, then we settled in 7 business days.
After 7 days I get an email that the site was transferred BUT NOT to the domain I registered, In order for the migration to work I HAD TO TRANSFER my existing domain to them. I asked why do you think I registered a new domain, all I wanted was the old content in old domain under the new domain.
Then they said “Very rudely” that was a different transfer/migration requested.. Here is their very professional and friendly email.
“Migrations are done “as-is” and this service has already been fulfilled. You are now asking us to duplicate the content onto a different domain, which is additional work that is not included in the original migration you requested. Regretfully, you will need to purchase an additional migration to cover the additional work requested.
We have place a website transfer in your Bluehost account cart, please log into your Bluehost account and process the payment. Reply to this email once that has been done.
Sincerely,
Professional Services”
I do not know what is professional about it… Now I cannot transfer to another hosting because since I bough the domain from them I have to wait 60 days … Blue host is not a good hosting company is rude and holding you hostage for extra fees and nickles and dimes.
So, getting out of bluehost, cancelling everything and moving the domain out of there as soon as the 60 days are over.

plugin not working on my web site

Did not work, support was unable to help, moved to a new host two days after trying bluehost. It is not automated and it takes days for anybody to reply to any messages.

Bluehost only allows its customers to use this plugin for one website. If you need to migrate multiple WordPress sites they make you pay $150 or you must do it manually. It appears there’s a reason this plugin has mixed reviews while SiteGround’s migration plugin has mostly positive reviews.

After staging a setup of Woocommerce, on a website, I deployed the new version of the website. It worked to show basic structure, but menus and breadcrumbs did not migrate. The menus and breadcrumbs were linked to the staging site.
I called Bluehost who went through and fixed it after many tries.
Found out the next day that the backend wp-admin dashboard had a staging site active and not a production site. The name of the staging site was the same as the production site with the addition of an “/” at the end.
I called Bluehost again. The agent advised to deploy. We deployed the staging site, and the Bluehost plugin froze and the website was no longer accessible. We tried many ways to reactivate with no avail.
Finally, to fix the website, I offered help with a backup. I was able to help Bluehost by restoring the website.
After this call, I have found many staging files through the cpanel file manager. I am in the process of manually deleting those.
I would have been better off manually setting up and manually migrating all files of the staging site. Bluehost staging may initially look a little like it works, however the Bluehost staging does not work for all practical purposes.

First time I’ve tried the plugin.
The Bluehost account already had some basic WP site under that domain, but the domain was pointing to another provider where It was developed.
I have initiated a transfer via plugin, which worked almost perfect, there were some issues with the content, but nothing major.
So now I had two websites in admin panel under same domain name, old blank one, and new one.
I have deleted the old one, and new one was saying domain needs to be connected.
I have contacted support many times to resolve it, and either them or automatically, site was deleted.
Then they tried to restore it, and they hooked up wrong database files, (the design on front was good, but content was empty).
So overall really bad experience, lost around 10 hours.
Then, i tried transferring my site to @siteground via their migrator.
All happened in 5 minutes perfectly without issues.
So overall, when you choose hosting, don’t save those $2.99 or you will loose many more.
Cheers

I’ve migrated 3 websites using this tool and all went smoothly. There is a component that is manual and requires their migration team to complete the process however it is my understanding that component is temporary and will soon be fully automated. Overall, this made the transition from another hosting provider much smoother.

I used this plugin thinking it would be automated, but it requires human intervention from a Bluehost migration specialist. Was told by support that this takes up to 7 days to complete, even for small sites. Plus, if you want the website moved to an add-on domain, you have to email them and hope that they get it. The plugin has you login to your Bluehost account, but doesn’t ask which domain you want to put the migrating website.
