Block-Slider has been my go-to slider-plugin for creating simple and performant sliders for a while now. When I wanted to use this for a new project now I saw there hasn’t been an update since 6 months and compatibility is unclear. Multiple issues are visible on WP Hive: https://wphive.com/plugins/block-slider/

When building a website for a client I strive to create a website that lasts and needs little maintenance. I fear that if I use BlockSlider I have to replace this in a few months because of compatibility issues.

There has not been any activity on BlockSliders Socials and in this support forum either. But maybe someone knows something? Or best the author/s of BlockSlider can comment on the future of this Plugin.

We have a site with multiple custom post types and in some cases we would like to create a query slider that selects across two custom post types that have the same taxonomy. Is this at all possible? At the moment we’re limited to selecting from one post type.

Hi – I’m using a video block on each slide. The autoplay option on the video is off but when I navigate through the slides they start playing. Can you tell me how to prevent this from happening please?

I used Block slider to make a image slider. But the images are not showing in the center. They are aligned to the left giving a bad look. What should be the image dimensions for making image slider? Please help

When inserting the slide block into the editor, I’m getting the following error:

I have used your plugin before and like it a lot.
Today, however, I encountered a problem.
I have made a Slider, but when I go to my page and add the “Block Slider”-block I get this error: “This block has encountered an error and cannot be previewed.”
I can not select Sliders to show or anything.
The theme is a custom block theme, and I only have a handful of plugins installed. I started to disable them, and it turns out the Gutenberg plugin caused the problems.
I have Gutenberg 16.8.1 installed, and even if this is not part of the WP6.4 release due in a couple of weeks, I think it would be good to check what can cause the problem.

I need a slider where the video support is located. But before use there is a question. Does your plugin support Vimeo videos and MP4 videos? We want one slider to use the name of these forms.

This plugin seems to only allow site administrators (with “manage_options” capability) to get to the block sliders listing – wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=blockslider

Can you set it so that there is a specific capability that can be added to a role to allow this – or, what may make more sense, make it so editors that can edit every page or post on the site can also edit the block sliders? or at least view that page:

Hello. Having an issue with with missing slide navigation in the editor.

I think since the update to WP 6.3. The pagination type menu normally in the bottom left of the Block Slider editor is missing.

On Friday night, the slider on my home page disappeared out of nowhere. It was working fine, it is the first time it happens and there is no option in the wordpress tools to make the block appear again.

The slideshow block is no longer displayed!

Yes, the situation improved a bit:

1. I can insert a Slider Block.
2. Now searching in its UI also yields results. But here my testing and reporting had stopped prematurely. Because the next step fails:
3. Inserting fails with “Slider not found”. Tried both sliders. Also loaded Block Editor afresh and inserted new block. Nothing helped.

I suspect it’s the same technical underlying problem as for Opening permalink /block-slider/slider-ID/ in Frontend gives HTTP Error 404. It can search through the items. But loading it via its ID seems to fail. Both for read output in the frontend (the linked issue) as well as for loading into the Block Editor (this very issue here).

I was experiencing an issue with my main website so I decided to see if the issue was something of my doing and if I could replicate it with a local page. Even with a local website, it seems like on the homepage the shortcode does not work…

On a page it works just fine beside the white margin on the side.

Do you have plans that one can edit a page/post with the Block Editor and insert a “Block Slider” block normally within the page flow, and there have the same controls as in your own “limited scope” Block Editor variant? Or did you attempt this but decided against it due to UX/API limitations?

Currently one used a “limited scope” Block Editor instance for Block Sliders. One goes WordPress (Backend) → Block Slider → Add new (slider instance). This uses a UI which is an instance of the Block Editor, but limited to the scope of the slider. And then later inserts a “Block Slider” block into a page/post and then searching for the respective slider ID or name. I only assume this in theory, because in practice it currently ain’t working:

• I can insert a Block Slider block but searching fails
• Opening permalink /block-slider/slider-ID/ in Frontend gives HTTP Error 404

As I reported in Opening slider-ID directly in Frontend gives HTTP Error 404 I guess that routing of the plugin generally is failing. This also manifests when attempting to insert.

Reproduction

1. Open a page/post in the Block Editor.
2. Insert a “Block Slider” block.
3. Clicking into search

Actual: Does nothing. I also typed the ID of one the created sliders in all possible forms: slider-1234 , 1234.

Expected: I guess this is supposed to open a combobox where you can search and select from your existing sliders.

Environment

• Block Slider 2.1.6
• WordPress 6.2.2
• Gutenberg plugin 15.9.1

Reproduction

1. WordPress (Backend) → Block Slider → Add new
2. Created a new slider with 3 slides. Saved.

Loading this page results in error 404 This page could not be found.

This error message seems to me like a problem with routing. Is your plugin using the standard WordPress routing?

FYI: My WordPress routing works elsewhere without issues:

• I have beautiful permalinks ON<span style=”font-size: inherit;”>.</span>
• <span style=”font-size: inherit;”>I use a customized .htaccess, with the normal WordPress routing block intact.</span>
• On my Staging Website where I tried your plugin I’m behind My Private Site.
• I experience no other routing issues.

I’m having an issue with the first image disappearing when loop is turned on. I’m only using images within the blocker slider. I’ve set up an example where this issue can be replicated when navigating past the end.

The Slider stopped autoplay and the slider pagination signs disappeared, it become a static post – I just updated the cache and liked it with Cloudflare CDN and installed other plugins, I am using Blocky theme (Home Decor Pro), Kindly guide and resolve it.

Problem: Block Slider Pro does not appear to be loading properly. The Block Slider Icon is not available in the Block Menu from the FSE editor. Therefore I can’t create a slider or edit. There are no templates listed either.

I installed Block Slider Pro using the website download and uploaded per the video instructions. I check to see if the files were in the correct directory and they are. Then I notice the dashboard’s menu for Block Slider stated “upgrade to Pro” in yellow letters. Since WP seemed to not recognize the uploaded pro-version, I followed the upgrade instructions through the WP plugin page this time.

I needed this plugin to create responsive site. Important to have phone screen size properly. Looks like a great tool but there is not appear to be much help or instructions available. Hoping someone can assist.

Hey guys, I bought the pro version of the plugin a few weeks ago and have been testing on my own website. It seems to be working well. One issue or maybe feature suggestion.

The slider doesn’t seem to be container by the wrapper block I have it in on the page I’m editing. I am using GenerateBlocks Container block to set a max width but it isn’t working.

One way to fix this would be to set a max container width on the slide settings with the ability to add margin.

I just installed the plugin and made my first sliders.
When trying to add them to a page using the slider block it can not find the sliders I just created. When I try to preview them I get a 404 page not found.

However, I can edit the sliders, so they are there somewhere.

It is not a big deal and I just want let you know that there is a minor issue.

I am using WP 6.1.1 with the Twenty Twentythree theme.

I have some sliders on my page and I am super happy with them. ??

To integrate the slider on a page, I am using a Group block with some padding and additional CSS, which gives a colored background. Within this group there is only the Shortcode block, with the shortcode to the Slider.

I now made one of these Group blocks an “Reuasble Block”. Doing this, on the page itself the slider functionality breaks and all slides are shown one after another.

If I undo this, everything is working fine.

Again, this not a problem and can do a workarround. Maybe it is something, the developers would like to have an eye on it.
