Hi, seems like this plugin stopped working, anyway for my site after upgrading tot PHP 8.2.

Could the developer please let users know if there is any chance of an update for this plugin?

I’m getting the dreaded critical error on the page that I’m using this plugin: “There has been a critical error on this website.”

If I disable the Blighty Explorer plugin the error goes away.

Is the plugin still compatible with the latest version of WordPress (6.0.2)?

it is impossible to download a single Word-file, only when it is a pdf-file one can download a singe file, as long as there are no other Word-documents in the folder where the pdf-file is.
When trying to open just one Word-document from a sub-folder (or a pdf that is located in a folder with Word-files), I get a zip-file download that contains all of the documents in the folder that is used in the shortcode (including all documents in all sub-folders of that specific folder). There are no individual documents in the folder that is used in the shortcode, only (7) sub-folders.

I found that problems quite like this issue has been reported earlier, but I didn’t find any solution. Can you please help out?

I’m having an odd issue with certain files listed in BEX that Dropbox seems to want users to sign in to access.

Our use case is a Dropbox folder with several sub-folders, each containing various files. The shortcode on WordPress is used on a password-protected page, such that only those who have the password to the page can see the BEX contents. So far, so good.

Navigating through the structure is no problem at all. And usually when a file is clicked on it downloads without any further authorisation. However, some files pop up with a Dropbox page requesting login to Dropbox, preventing access. The page says “Sign up to access the file [MY NAME] shared. To keep [FILENAME] secure, we need to confirm your identity.” – where [MY NAME] is my name and [FILENAME] is the name of the file.

It occurs on certain files, not all. And it only seems to be .docx files, but even then not every .docx file within the folder structure. I can’t make head nor tail of it.

Any ideas?

This plugin is great and exactly what we need but it seems to use the Dropbox API1 (which is deprecated). So when we go inside a folder and click on a file, the file is not downloaded but the entire structure is downloaded as a zip file.

Would you have any idea to fix this, update to Dropbox API2 compatibility?

I have updated to latest version of Theme, WP 5.5.1 and PHP 7.3.
AND moved our site to Siteground Startup from GrowBig.
NOW When trying to upload a file to BE, the process seems to go as usual but the NEW file does NOT show in the listing OR when I go directly to DROPBOX.

It has been days that I am not able to download any single file from my Dropbox tructure.
When I go inside a subfolder and double click on a specific file, the file is not showed/downloaded but the entire structure is downloaded as a zip file.
Any idea ?

I see same problem on other people but not find the solution.

The site has a number of folders that contain files and folders. When trying to navigate from the root folder into other folders to view the files, the navigation fails and it attempts to download the folder instead.

When I try to embed a subfolder in the BlightyExplorer folder with the shortcode

[bex_folder root=”\demo2″]

I’m receiving an instand critical error message when saving the page. The subfolder is existant. What could the problem be?

The basic shortcode [bex_folder] works finde and also lets me navigate manually to the subfolder.

Set Role Functionality is not working in the Access Control and Upload functionality is not working. Error showing the site is experiencing technical difficulties.

We are linked to Dropbox OK.
We can UPLOAD files OK.
We can DOWNLOAD files OK
But something has happened to the downloaded files that produces an error when loading them into Garmin Basecamp or into Garmin GPS device.
We are working with Garmin .gpx file type created with BASECAMP then UP to Dropbox and DOWN from Dropbox.
What could be happening to the files on the roundtrip?

I’ve noticed that if I have a folder structure like this (for instance):

Home
>> sub1
>> sub2
>> sub3

and the visitor navigates down to sub3, what they see in the folder breadcrumbs is:

Home
>> sub2
>> sub3

If the visitor clicks on sub2, they are actually taken to sub1; clicking on sub3 takes them to sub2. Is it possible to show the correct names of the subfolders in the breadcrumbs?

Hi. I’ve noticed that if a subfolder name include an apostrophe (‘), eg “St Patrick’s Day”, the plugin crashes when a website visitor clicks to browse into the folder.

Is it possible to make use root in bex_upload?
for example [bex_upload root=”\demo2″]?

I use different groups of users, and for everyone group I use another root.

I have installed this plugin and linked to my Dropbox. I can see the file list but clicking a file won’t download. It just refreshes the page.

I can browse in to a folder. But when I click a file in that folder it refreshes the page and goes back to the root.

Can you please recommend a fix.

When I navigate to a specific folder and then click on the upload button, the file does not upload to the specified folder. Instead it lands in the root folder of “Monthly shares”.

How can I fix it so that the upload is tied to the folder that the person navigated to? e.g. Sanja.

We have been using this plugin for over two years – thanks.

Suddenly all user access for those not logged in has ceased. Instead of a folder widget users see: “You do not have access to this folder.” I see the same until I log in as admin, after which I see the widget.

Under Settings/Access Control, all checkboxes are select them (say, All/Anonymous and the top level folder) but when I select Save the checkboxes revert to unselected.

The one recent change we have made to the site that I imagine could be relevant was to apply an SSL certificate. Could that make a difference? And if so, what can I do about it?

I need to manage access permissions to users so they can only access a specific sub-folder on Dropbox. Is it possible to limit access to a specific sub-folder on Dropbox to a set of specific users? Or is there some other way to achieve this?

We have Blighty Explorer v2.1.8 linked to dropbox & any new folder synced comes with “All/Anonymous” permissions. I was wondering if there is a way we can change the default so any new folders synced will be available to “Administrators” only? Cheers

I just cannot get files to upload!
I have checked they are small enough, they have the right extension, but I try to upload a file before it defaults back to upload file, it looks as if it’s doing it but I don’t get an email and nothing gets uploaded.
Using Dropbox Plus.

This is a fantastic plugin, but I’m having trouble display my files’ data in the browser. In my Dropbox folder I have lots of XML files, but when I try to open them, the tab closes.

They can download as a “file” but openning them in browser would be best. Even displaying them as a string would work too

Any places to point me to fix this? I have not been able to use this plugin for a while now. I have been using other dropbox plugins successfully. I know we have access to dropbox.com I just can figure out what party of dropbox we may be blocking.

My dropbox folder is organized like this:

00. Index Of Documents.pdf
01. first PDF
02. Second PDF
02. (Attachments) – folder of documents related to 2nd PDF
03. third PDF
04. fourth PDF
04. (Attachments) – folder of documents related to 4th PDF

except there’s close to 100 PDFs.

The plugin displays them in this order no matter what I do:

04. fourth PDF

This is absolutely confusing to my users, and none of the options in the settings screen or the sort attribute in the shortcode seem to make a difference. Is there a way to sort them by name order? Dropbox has no problem displaying them in correct alphabetical order.

I’d like to be able to click on a directory name and have all its contents downloaded. Is that possible currently or expected in the future?

I already have all setup with Blighty Explorer v2.1.5 over my WP site.
The cloud setup is “CONNECTED”, and in Dropbox already have Apps/Blighty Explorer folder.
When trying to set Access control for available roles, it selects and when saving changes it came all selections clear. Not know if because of this uploading a file does not work.
Can you help me?

I appreciate your work and it’s a great plugin, but sometimes it downloads a wrong file. My file is in 4th folder, folder 1 -> folder 2 -> folder 3 -> folder 4 -> file_to_download.zip. But when I try to download it, I get a wrong file from folder 3. Any idea how to fix the problem?

I have installed the Blighty Explorer Plugin, but it does not give me an option to link my DropBox account. The Cloud Setup page is blank and to the right Dropbox Information: No access to Dropbox

I would really love to try this plugin as I think it is exactly what I need.
