Hi! Thank you for this great plug-in, everything is working fine but the dark mode is not kept when I change page on the website (https://newidentity.marcopolosrl.it/), so I have to enable the switch every time. Any suggestion? Am I doing something wrong? Thank you so much!
Hi there,
hope ur all doing well.
I would like to remove the darkmode-ignore class from my Header. I am using a child theme of enfold. Is this possible?
Best regards,
Sabsab
First of all, great plugin.
Now, I am currently staging a site with a new theme and I opted to go with Nanospace since it is relatively minimalistic, however I have run into trouble with Darkmode on this theme in particular.
The theme has a header image that will get inverted, even though the image itself has the darkmode-ignore added by the plugin.
Also in an archive view, the featured images look correct except if you mousehover over an article, the hovering will invert the image again.
I have tried multiple things, including adding the z-index to the header container, which works great for the colors but it will obstruct the main menu on top. I have tried going into the CSS and checking the sourcecode, but I cannot figure out how the inverted colors are assigned and I cannot prevent it from happening.
Did anyone else have success with custom filtering specific images or parts to not get inverted by darkmode?
Wordpress version:5.5.1
Hi,
I just install the plugin. The widget works smoothly except the size, it looks really large. I have tried to adjust the size in Widget Settings but it didn’t work.
So I tried to check the element using browser developer tools and found that there are two different sets of values given to width
and heigh
property of darkmode-toggle
class
.darkmode-toggle {
background: #000000;
width: 3rem;
height: 3rem;
position: fixed;
border-radius: 50%;
border:none;
right: unset;
bottom: 32px;
left: 32px;
cursor: pointer;
transition: all 0.5s ease;
display: flex;
justify-content: center;
align-items: center;
}
and the inline one
.darkmode-toggle {
width:80px !important;
height:80px !important;
}
So the former one won’t take effect.
Does this mean using out own image as a toggle switch? If it does, I don’t understand this part of in the FAQ
“then add the class darkmode-enable to the element that you want to use as toggle”
Or is there a way to make the toggle switch even smaller then the smallest setting?
Hello,
Since the last update of today the plugin shortcode toggle is not working anymore, however everything goes automatically into darkmode.
I have tried excluding the .js & .css from optimization plugins & clearing cache but this did not work.
Greetings.
Hello,
Got the plugin tweaked, but I just noticed that pages follow the OS’s dark mode setting even when the setting is unchecked on the plugin settings page.
I’m testing this using OS X with Safari and iOS with Safari.
Hello, thanks for the wonderful plugin
I’m facing an issue with images on my site (I’m using buddypress too)
On dark mode enabled the image gets inversed
I also tried this-
darkmode-activated .img{
mixblendmode: Difference
}
But it didn’t work
~Thank You
Hi, I installed your plugin and it looks great! However, it seems like there are some issues for me. It does not exclude all images/buttons/videos etc..
and it doesn’t take the animation and location of the button in some places.
Could you let me know if there is an email address on which I could send you log-in for an admin account so you can see it for yourself? If you can make it work happy to buy you some coffees/beers ??
Cheers
Enabling dark mode inverts the colors of Disqus comments widget.
Is there a way to exclude Disqus widget from being affected? like a code that I can add to my child theme?

Hi
I installed and activate the plugin briefly but had misunderstood what it was for, so without configuring it, I deactivated and uninstalled it. However, my pages have remained in black mode. When I reinstall it they go back to normal and can be toggled between black and normal. I do not have a use for the blackmode at all though so need to uninstall it and get it back to normal. Any tips?
Cheers

Hi there!
I just love your plugins. However, one little things are stopping me to use it ??
All my blue colored accent are changing to orange and my green accent to pink. Is it possible to prevent it?
Thanks you for making such a great plugin
Regards,
Ahad
Is it possible to place the toggle in the upper right an originate the swipe to black from the upper right?
Is there any possibility to exclude e.g. the header section? In our case, we have a yellow/black logo and therefore a yellow header title with yellow text subtitle (slogan). I want to have this header information unchanged. Currently this is getting blue when setting the dark mode “active”. Is this possible? If yes, how?
Didn’t work in WordPress 5.4. I cannot see any button after I activate the plugin.
Hello
I have an issue with it. My theme has the option to let me override the original CSS code to change colors and so on. The problem is, the parts I changed dark to override the original themes colors now turn white when I activate this plugin. Can you add the option where I can add another set of CSS color customizations in the settings of the plugin to correct this issue?
I really would love to have this enabled but as it sits, anything I changed dark with !important; is now white.
This plugin works incredibly great although it lacks some features and just needs those fixes.
First thing is the bugs:
* ad codes/shortcode widget ads show in inverted colours.
* after loading more posts the featured images won’t change to normal like the first posts.
Must have features:
* Option to change link font colour
* Option to hide the toggle icon, and to use the OS dark mode settings.
* Option to change the label and place it in the menu as a widget.
This plugin is awesome, just wish it had more options, or if there’s a chance the authors can drop the CSS codes here, also where should one customise the CSS? in the blackout.css?
Thank you guys!

Hey, i want to know will come Updates next Time? So i want use this Plugin.

Hi,
Can we add an option to hide the button if the page is scrolled down and show the button when at the top of the page? I don’t want to show the button all the time since it can block some content on the page when scrolling.
Hello, is there a way to customize colours after activation of dark mode? I find colours kinda bright and would like to bring their tone down a little bit. Thanks.
Hi,
Is there a way to turn off the mobile option for darkmode & the pictures on my home screen default to black borders. Is there a way to change this without messing up the pictures? They currently freak out if background color is altered
Hey there,
Thanks for the great plugin, but I noticed that when the user is on dark mode, the site defaults to dark mode. How can i make it default to the normal theme for all users and then only have them activate dark mode by clicking the icon? Thanks a lot
Hello!
I’ve tried installing this plugin on johncoxon.co.uk and found that I get some errors on the settings page and the widget doesn’t show up in the bottom left-hand corner as it does on other websites I’ve configured it on. I get the following errors:
* Notice: Undefined index: blackout_only_posts in /var/sites/j/johncoxon.co.uk/public_html/wp-content/plugins/blackout-darkmode-widget/blackout.php on line 322
* Notice: Undefined index: blackout_left_bottom in /var/sites/j/johncoxon.co.uk/public_html/wp-content/plugins/blackout-darkmode-widget/blackout.php on line 329
* Notice: Undefined index: blackout_right_bottom in /var/sites/j/johncoxon.co.uk/public_html/wp-content/plugins/blackout-darkmode-widget/blackout.php on line 336
* Notice: Undefined index: blackout_cookies in /var/sites/j/johncoxon.co.uk/public_html/wp-content/plugins/blackout-darkmode-widget/blackout.php on line 350
Furthermore, I’ve had difficulty with the plugin not successfully identifying images that should be left alone. On chickensinenvelopes.net, the sidebar image displayed strangely. On johncoxon.co.uk, the big header image and photograph of me both reverse colours. On lulzine.net, the images in the first featured image section reverse. I’ve solved the issue on Chickens in Envelopes and Lulzine by creating child themes and adding the darkmode-ignore
class to the relevant div
s, but it would still be good if this plugin didn’t require the user to do that.
Thank you for the plugin though, it’s so great and I’m enjoying using it a lot!
Hi.
I am trying to give my web an app feel so I would appreciate if there is a way to turn on / off ( and remember the setting for next time ) via customised buttons or links.
For eg I make a button and on click it activates. Or I have a link ” Click here for dark ” and I link it up to a code to make it dark.
Possible ? Thanks:)
Depending on the theme, the icon / button will be bigger or smaller. The size adjustment sliders in the backend do not provide enough control over the size. Also, adjusting the icon size causes the button to be misaligned.
This is currently the best dark mode plugin for the frontend; hopefully size adjustment/customization will get better.
Thank you for creating this!
Dear developer,
first of all: thank you for the cool plugin and thanks to Sandoche for the method!
I already figured out how to change the colors to what I would like to have.
My only problem are the images because I want to exclude them from being affected by the darkmode. Basically it’s only the background and the text color that I wanted to adjust and I am really happy with the result. How do I “save” the images?
On Sandoche’s site https://darkmodejs.learn.uno/ I found the solutions
isolation: isolate;
and
mix-blend-mode: difference;
and tried both of them but none worked. Please tell me what I need to change.
Here’s what I did: Just like the color styles (which worked) I added
.darkmode--activated img {
isolation: isolate;
}
in the style.css. There’s an error called “Unknown Property: isolation”. The same problem occurs with “Unknown Property: mix-blend-mode”.
I would like to exclude all images and emojis OR limit the darkmode to background color and text color, whatever is better to implement.
Please tell me what I need to do.
Thank you so much in advance!
Tifa
I’m facing this issue and have no idea to fix it.
The issue made the Blackout didn’t work at my site.
