(1) A serious issued unfolded last night, that kept us up until 3am in the morning. Yesturday, we added some additional words to our glossary. We have almost 700 entries. Upon adding the 3 more, suddently the body text of all 700 plus docs stopped showing. We logged a call with your technician and went through all possibilities. They had us fix apparant bugs, that had nothing to do with the issue. We fixed them, but the issue remained. We have not added any new plugins since March 24, however, we still did the plugin conflict tests. Again the problem remained. We have 700 docs with the title, contents and no body text. The only thing that worked, was removing the betterdocs pro plugin. when we swtiched that off. All 700 docs showed correctly. As soon as we switched it on, the body text in all of them disappaered. we checked version numbers of wordpress, bettedocs and betterdocs pro. again no issue. In the end after 6 hours of testing and looking around. We decided to restore the site to just before the 3 additional glossary words were added and everything is working fine. The problem is now we can not add anymore. (2) the other issue is that if a doc has a glossary word 10 times, each word is highlighted. I think this is heavyhanded. additionally the glossary needs to be searchable so words can be edited. Right now we are between a rock and a hard place not knowing what to do. I suppose we can setup a test environment. But i think some things need to be done with the plugin. One you need to check if the glossary is scalable, at present we dont think it is. We pushed it and this happend. Its just not possible it was anything else, otherthen a conflict between the betterdocs and betterdocs pro. Prehaps just having the pro plugin with everything needed instead of having two plugins active might be better as well.

I’ve experimented with this plugin across a few test sites and noticed some key areas for improvement:

1. Editing Terms: If an admin adds, say, 300 terms to the glossary, it becomes nearly impossible to go back and edit a specific one. The only option is to search page by page, which is a significant drawback for users considering upgrading to the premium version.
2. Sitemap for Terms: There isn’t currently a sitemap page for terms, which would be extremely helpful for indexing.
3. Term Usage in Blog Posts: It would be highly beneficial if admins could use terms from the glossary in main blog posts, creating a seamless database of terms throughout the site. While I’m unsure how feasible this would be, it would be an interesting and valuable feature to explore.

Hello, I was wondering if you could suggest an approach to automating conversion of WP Posts to Documentation. The WP Posts include the Documentation category they’ll be included in as well as all of the documentation content. Is there any way, built-in, using an external plugin, or otherwise, to automate the conversion of WordPress Posts to BD Docs? Thanks in advance!

Fresh install of betterdocs pro, no quick setup option. Is this removed?

We accidentally stumbled upon a situation: the search function doesn’t search in patterns.

For example: in the doc ‘https://andrekb.noesteprojecten.nl/docs/koptekst/‘ we have a text ‘6 stipjes’, which is in a pattern.

When using the search function, this doc isn’t showing up.

Is there a setting we missed to enable searching in patterns?

Hello, the Glossary Term Description in some Glossary entries in a document in my page appear as whit line, like empty, the even show empty in my Encyclopedia, even though they were “properly” added.

Front-end is no problem.

Now, I roll-backed the entire plugin, and safe back.

Hi! On the BetterDocs home page, if I select a knowledge base, the categories displayed are fine, but all the docs are displayed regardless of the knowledge base. I didn’t have this problem before the last update.

In my wooocmmerce product edit page product data section all tabs are empty, if i deactivate BetterDocs plugin it shows all tabs as expected. My wordpress version, theme, woocommerce plugin & betterdocs plugin are up to date.

It appears that this change was intended to make improvements to the wp-admin/admin.php?page=betterdocs-admin page (aka the BetterDocs dashboard), but is actually impacting the entire wp-admin area. Please revise the scope of these changes to only impact BetterDocs-specific pages in wp-admin.

I use Polylang to translate Betterdocs into multiple languages, but when I enable BetterDocs in Polylang’s Custom post types and Taxonomies, the ROOT page of betterdocs is no longer accessible. When I uncheck BetterDocs in Custom post types and Taxonomies, it appears normally.

What should I do?

I’m using betterdocs Plugin on my web page. There seems to be no problems while using it on desktop or through the developing side but when I try to use it on my phone, i get the warning below :

I have a website and I created a search form there. I want to search for the word entered here in the betterdocs library on another site. How can I do that ?

I have been using BetterDocs for quite a while and, in most cases, I am satisfied and have decided to stick with it. However, I have some suggestions that could improve the plugin’s performance.

Firstly, on the documentation page (main page), site admins should be allowed to choose whether to display documents under a category when using nested subcategories. As more categories and subcategories are added, along with new documents (I mean 10k+ documents), the query becomes very slow since more rows need to be selected from the database. In most cases, only showing the taxonomies (categories and subcategories) is enough, as users can always navigate further to subcategories and see the documents inside. I noticed there is already an option to choose how many documents to present under each category on the main page. However, when I set this number to 0, BetterDocs still shows the default 10 documents. It would be better to skip the query if the user sets it to 0.

Another issue is related to the category page (the page we see after clicking a category on the main page) and the category sidebar in a single document. The problem is similar to the previous one. I noticed that BetterDocs currently shows all the documents belonging to the category. This will be problematic if there are many documents (thousands of documents). The query will be time-consuming as the result will be very long, and actually, most of the results are not necessary to be displayed. A better approach would be to only query the first dozen (a number set by the site admin) matched rows in the database. Adding a ‘View More’ button at the bottom to query more if pressed could improve the user experience and also enhance the performance of the plugin, making it more scalable.

When I click on the sub-category, the primary category block responds by changing its shape, but the masonry does not. As a result, some parts of the enlarged primary category block are hidden by other primary category blocks. I expect the masonry to be fully responsive. Will the development team address this issue in the next update?

I installed Betterdocs on my website created with the HostCluster theme, and the search doesn’t work. It only loads the content from the default WordPress blog, but the content that I incorporated in Betterdocs doesn’t appear.
I thought it might be some conflict with a plugin, but I finally discovered that the search engine stops working when I activate the HostCluster theme.

We are currently using your plugin on our websites. Recently, I have noticed an issue with the BetterDocs plugin. When this plugin is activated, it loads many JavaScript sources on inner pages where I haven’t used any BetterDocs widgets or elements. It loads an extra 33+ JS files from the wp-include folder.
I see that there is an Instant Answer enabled, but it significantly affects website performance to load so many files for this feature.

This nice plugin has a complex system of changing colors of different elements, many of which are repetitive. To simplify the controls, it is worth making them similar to the Blocksy theme.

It would be even better if the plugin would automatically synchronise with the theme’s color settings.

This could make this plugin out of competition among other similar ones.

Hi tested with just better docs installed no additional plugins active, it works fine if i used a shortcode but if i use the gutenberg widget and choose to exclude / include FAQ groups then theres a extra piece of shortcode that displays under it
