I have been using Solid Security (previously ithemes security) for many years (10+?). I’ve lost track. I used the full iThemes tools for several years. Solid Security is my go to for clients and my own sites. It’s easy to use, does a great job in blocking brute force and other attempts. Reporting keeps me informed of attack rates, bad logins, and other security related activity that’s important in keeping all sites safe. I haven’t had issues with plugin conflicts with other tools I use. I’ve used WordFence on occasion, but Solid Security just has everything I need. I also like the features that help… whitelisting, admin renaming, user security management, and numerous tweaking settings.
I’ve had little need to go to support, but when I have they’ve been responsive and knowledgeable. I recommend Solid Security to clients and others for security. Often because people don’t even have security set up on their WordPress installations.

It’s a good tool to add an extra layer of security to your website not only for the firewall or the scanner but for the other small things that makes your site a bit more secure. The support helped me a lot.
I’m using it since it was iThemes. The only bad thing I could mention is that when it was iThemes I was a valuable customer because I hired the higher plan. When it was renamed to Solid Security I lost value for them and I don’t have access to the Academy.

My experience was when testing this plugin on behalf of some of my customer’s complaints.
Right after installing it, some dynamic images stopped working due to modifications this plugin makes to .htaccess file.
Such modifications are registered as being part of iThemes Security which makes it even harder to identify.
Because most of my customers don’t even use git or any version control system, it gets even harder to identify such changes.
Also, by deactivating or even removing the plugin (using wp-cli or via panel) will not undo those intrusive changes.
Same goes to changes made in wp-config.php disallowinging file editing, regardless you configure the plugin to not alter your wp-config.php file.

We are a nonprofit and we have been using the Solid Security Basic for about a couple of years, and it’s the one of the most comprehensive and well put together plugin, for WordPress security. The plugin covers the entire gambit of security risks (vulnerable themes/plugins, local and remote account take over attacks, enforcing security best practices, adaptive web application firewall, user configured blocks, scheduled DB backups, etc). This type of functionality is an absolute must if you plan to put up a WordPress site on the internet in 2024. The plugin works with CDNs such as Fastly, or Cloudflare, with some additional configs.
The product is paired with excellent support. The support representative was patient, methodical and committed to finding a resolution for our issues, even though we were on the free plan. (Thank you Brent!). I highly recommend this plugin if your wordpress is exposed to the internet.

Solid Security has always been my go-to security plugin. It’s lightweight, well-maintained, and consistently reliable. Recently, I upgraded to the pro version, and I love the new virtual patching feature, which helps me sleep a little easier at night. The support team, especially Kevin, is amazing. Kevin even made a video to help me fix an issue with the site scan. I can’t fault the plugin or the support, so I highly recommend it.

I use Solid Security on all my websites. I created a site a month ago and didn’t get around to installing Solid Security on it, and within 3 weeks, it was hacked. I don’t host WordPress websites without it.
I had a compatibility issue with one of my sites and Solid Security so I contacted support. Not only did they respond very quickly, but they went above and beyond to troubleshoot and help me fix my site. I can’t say enough good things about this software and this company.

Be aware that the option of securing your account with 2FA will lock you out of your wordpress installation. Even the backup codes don’t work. I had a lot of work deleting everything from this plugin straigth out of my database. If you don’t have access to your files or database this plugin will lock you out. Read the reviews – I’m not the only victim. The solutions provided in other reviews doesn’t work either. Do not install, do not pay!

I recently switched all of my websites over to Better WP Security. That no was a BIG mistake!
There doesn’t seem to be a day that goes by where I’m trying to troubleshoot login issues, however, today was the last straw. I have been completely locked out of all of my websites running Better WP Security, and I have spent over 3 hours trying to log in to one website without success.
So, after 3 long, grueling hours, I have had to uninstall my entire WordPress website and reinstall via a backup.
Horrendous plugin AVOID! I’m going back to the security plugin I have used for many many years without any issues…

I’ve been using this plugin happily for years on many websites so I’m sad to be writing a bad review… I’m doing maintenance on a site that has been using the plugin for a while and was recently migrated. The plugin wasn’t working, site scan took <1sec and didn’t produce any result, but gave no error message. I uninstalled the plugin, noticed it left many itsec_ fields in the database, which should have been removed, reinstalled the plugin. Now I’m getting a setup screen, and the plugin is completely unresponsive at the first prompt (“Enable Security Check Pro?”), whether I enable it or not. Really sloppy job there…
