When the recipient of one of the email is the same as the one set as FROM, we get a lot of reply-to in the header. When say email is opened in Outlook it cause a memory failure.
Any idea why we get multiple reply to instead of only one?
]]>Good morning,
If you want to use this abandoned plugin, you can still make it work. Avoiding the gory details, I changed the send_mail function in the bbpress-post-via-mail/library/pvm/Connector/bbPress.php file.
The result is a link in the email body that goes back to your site via Postmark and is properly handled and posted.
The area of change was near the end of the function. I changed the wp_mail call and added a little something. Code snippet below (2 lines of code – 1 new – 1 modified)
If you want to be able to reply to forums via email, I have found no other option.
Good luck! Bryan
// ADDED replystring and modified the wp_mail call to make the reply to address show up in the email body
$replystring = ‘To reply to the forum, click on this link: ?subject=’.$subj.'” target=”_top”>Reply To Forum‘;
wp_mail( $to, $subj, nl2br($replystring.”\r\n\n”.$data.”\r\n\n”.$replystring.$notices[$user->ID]), $header, $attachments );
]]>Hello Support Team,
I have an community site, For this I have installed buddypress for groups and bbresspress for forums posting. Also I installed “bbPress Post via Mail” for comment posting by mail. But now I am able to receive mail of new topic, comment posting. But I am unble to reply that topic /comment via mail.
Please check it once or help me.
Thanks
Kulwinder Singh
Ever since I recently upgraded wordpress, the reply mail isn’t changing from the default wordpress email, rending the plugin useless, since it’s not getting routed to postmark.
]]>I have an community site, which have buddypress and bbpress. ANd for reply by mail, I used “bbPress Post Via Mail”. I follow all steps to configure this plugin. but I have not received any reply from my mail. Please let me know how i resolve this issue.
Thanks
]]>This plugin is not altogether free. I found that it costs to get a Postmark account, which is needed to activate this plugin. So I have to delete it, though I wanted to use it! ??
]]>Hi,
First of all, thanks a lot for your great plugin, it does exactly what it claims and even handles attached document which is awesome!
However, for some reason, replies sent by email have stopped being transmitted (I have recently updated to a new version of BBPress) and after setting up a debug plugin called “Postman SMTP”, i’ve found out the reason seems to be “Invalid “Reply-To” e-mail address”. Is there any chance you might know why this happens?

]]>Is there a way to disable this plugin just for WordPress posts and still let it work for bbPress topics and replies?
I’d prefer to use Jetpack’s Subscription plugin to handle the sending of WordPress posts, but I still need the ability to send and reply by email for bbPress forum posts.
Thanks!
]]>It looks like email notifications produced by the plugin have larger than normal paragraph breaks. Is there a reason for this?
]]>Hi,
I get this message when I check my inbound webhook:
Remote server returned an HTTP status code of 500.
Can you help me with this?
Thanks!
Hi guys, thanks for all of your efforts.
I work in Gmail so what I can see might be driven the Gmail email view.
Is there any way of making the From Address the same as the Reply-To Address? The Reply-To address is of course the one with the + append authentication token. Is there any way of making them the same or am I in the realm of feature requests?
Thanks again.
]]>There was a new topic in a forum that was deleted. When a user would try and post to that topic via email, as expected, an email alert was sent back to the person attempting to post.
However, the problem is that the email is sending continuously and it keeps sending and I can’t figure out how to stop it!
People that have tried responding to that topic are starting to get a bit perturbed at the constant flow of repetitious emails. (over 15 up to this point, and it appears every 10 to 20 minutes or so.)
Help on this issue would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
John
]]>Greetings,
This is really a great plugin and if supported by a good hosting service, it could really make the difference.
However, I have been able to do everything as thé configuration guideline indicates, but I have a little issue and I hope that you guys could help me out.
Basically, I’m able to reply via email to anyone posting on the forum. Also, my replies are posted as well. However, I figured out that i’m able to receive only the notifications about the online posting activities and not from who is posting via email. Substantially, users who are replying via email could not be subscribed automatically to topic responses, even if you set that from the plugin’s setting.
Thanks in advance,
Sincerely
Ragheb
Hi,
I tried contacting the plugin’s developer by email but I’m not sure I had the right email address.
I’m looking for a way to make the plugin use the threaded format my forum uses, so when I reply (via mail) on a reply, the comment will show up indented in the forum.
It seems to me that the current plugin doesn’t support this. am I correct?
Would you be willing to implement this kind of behavior? I’m willing to pay for that.
Would be great to hear from you.
]]>Hello!
Our top priority feature request for an educational site would be to be able to make a new BBpress topic via email in a specific BBpress forum for a specific BP group.
It would be perfect if it could be set so that only approved users with certain email addresses in a list can make a new BBpress topic via the addresses. Then the emailaddress does not need to be “hidden”. IMAp or POP ti get the email would probably be the easiest and best way to get the email.
thanx for listening!
Jan
We are looking for a solution for your educational BP site to do two things:
1. Allow only mods and admins to send out new BB Press threads as email to all users in the corresponding Buddy Press Group. Regardless of notification settings and not touching or confusing the standard BB press notification for other threads in any way.
2. Allow users that know a secret emailaddress to start threads via email to each of our 50+ BB Press forums by posting to this secret emailaddress for each forum.
It looks like this plugin almost could do this already…
Any chance of a code modification to do these two things?
Could probably find some funds for it if it is do-able.
thanx
j
Since the last update email is no longer being sent out. Any clues?
]]>Wonderful plugin! I’m really pleased with it, I’ve been waiting for a plugin that could do this for some time and the setup instructions worked without a hitch.
One problem I’m finding now that everything is set up—your description says that the plugin “strips away the quoted part of the message, so only the reply gets posted to the forum.” However in all my tests replying to a topic, the entirety of the original topic and any text entered in the New Topic/Reply Message/Notice fields is included in the new post to the topic. Only if I manually delete this original text in my reply email does it not appear, which I don’t think I can get all my users to do.
I’m testing replies from email using Fastmail’s web app using latest version of WordPress and bbPress Post via Mail. I’ve tried sending email replies in both plain text and rich text.
Hope you can help, thanks!
]]>Hi again, Ryan, sorry to fire these off to you but I’ve just moved from testing my website to going live. It’s a private intranet with a max of 150 users but I’ve just upped the user-base from 20 testers to around 70 members so far.
Since that time I’ve just received my first notification email which now contains a repeated footer message, which reads:
If you want to reply to the topic, send reply to this email directly or view the topic online
You are receiving this email because you subscribed to the forum Technical and practical on site Oyster Owners Group.
Login and visit the forum to unsubscribe from these emails. You are receiving this email because you subscribed to the forum Technical and practical on site Oyster Owners Group

Have you seen this behaviour before? I’ll monitor and give you an update when I get the next lot of notifications in.

Any clues?
]]>Hi,
I now have this up and running. Like I said in my previous post I’m pretty excited about this but I have noticed that email replies get delivered in a rather erratic way. I thought that the service wasn’t working then I wasn’t getting any replies via email, and then a whole load came in, but in an odd order.
The time stamp on these posts means that when they end up in my inbox they are in the correct chronological order, but they are not coming in chronologically.
Is there a setting that will enable me to make sure the server does a regular sweep every five minutes or something? Any ideas why this happens?
