This plugin (still) works great.
However be aware that it’s not compatible with PHP 8 or newer, the latest PHP version this plugin will work with is 7.4. This is due to its use of create_function, which has been deprecated since PHP 7.2 and removed as of PHP 8. This should be replaced with an anonymous function, which is easy enough. But I haven’t tested this myself, so I don’t know if that’s the only incompatibility with PHP 8+.

For those asking why it hasn’t been updated; it doesn’t need to be. I’ve used this on countless sites for at least 3 years, maybe as long as 5 years (I truly cannot remember) and it is faultless. In simple terms, it does what it says on the tin.

I was manually editing functions.php to achieve this functionality.
Conveniently, this plugin wraps the anchor text in a span.

redirect_to should use full URI (which unfortunately means it fails in multisite). Otherwise perfect functionality. (Also I don’t like that the menus admin accordion title includes the plugin version number. )

If you’re logged in, login still appears. When you’re logged out, logout remains in the menu. What? Why have a plugin at all if it isn’t dynamic?

I’m running WP 4.2.4 and installed this but when I go to appearance->menu, there is no new box from the plugin. I guess they’ll blame it on another plugin. What a bunch of junk.
