Here are some fixes for the php/user.php file that you might want to include in your next release:
– replace get_usernumposts() with count_user_posts() on line 94
– replace get_usermeta with get_user_meta on lines 65, 207 and 250
– replace update_usermeta with update_user_meta on line 321

]]>Hi,
I’m using Assignment Desk and Edit Flow.
I created a user Editor with status “Editor” and a user Contributor with status “Contributor”. Editor creates a post and sends an assignment request to Contributor which he approves. Now Contributor would like to work on his post assignment that got created by Editor. But he can’t since he is not the original author. Editor can’t change the author. How can Contributor work on his post assignment when he only has the rights to view it but not to edit it?
Please help.
Thanks.

I’ve tested it on Safari and Chrome, which both work fine but on Firefox the registration form is never submitted, it is just reset. When I disable Assignment Desk, the registration form goes through just fine.
I’ve turned the plug-in back on so you can test it out here.

I just hit the back button and everything seems fine but it makes me a little nervous. Let me know if you need more info, I’ll be glad to help.
But let me say this plugin ROCKS! Nice job and I’m glad I found it. I’ll be using it on a couple sites where I’m building a blog group. Just followed you on twitter!

PHP Warning: array_merge() [function.array-merge]: Argument #1 is not an array in /var/www/vhosts/DOMAIN/httpdocs/wp-content/plugins/assignment-desk/php/post.php on line 544
I’m not able to find any functionality problems, but thought I’d forward this along.
]]>A feature for consideration:
Re: The “Assignment Desk” widget that appears in users’ dashboards, that shows tallies of approved, rejected, etc. submissions.
An option to disable that would be most helpful for us. It’s causing angst and confusion with those in our userbase who have hosted blogs, but are not involved in our citizen journalism projects.
Thanks as always.

]]>Hey guys. Going back to the “assignment desk overrides all posts” problem, which was officially fixed in the latest version.
It seems the problem still persists if you make a new post in the dashboard and try to preview it before publishing it — Assignment desk overrides the post preview.
A fix for this would be much appreciated, as the need to preview the formatting of our posts before publishing them live is obviously important.
Thanks again for all of your efforts!
]]>Greetings!
I am perhaps thinking TOO far outside of the box here, but I would really like to use this plugin to faciliate collaborative story reviews for members of my writing group.
Basically, one of the things we do in my group is post stories / segments / chapters for other group members to review / comment on. I really like the idea that this plugin could be used to facilitate this w/ multiple editors / readers.
I have a couple of questions:
1. Is this a good use of your plugin? Or am I asking trying to fit a square peg in a round hole?
2. Is there an “assign all” option where everyone in the group (or where X roles) could be assigned so that a writer could just let everyone contribute (or choose a group, like “members” versus “everyone”)?
3. Can a writer assign readers /reviewers or would I have to make everyone editors?
4. Do responses / edits count as “comments” for the purposes of making them “rate-able?” I would like for people to be able to rate reviews / edits.
5. Are there any other features of your plugin that might be useful? I am just getting started w/ both WordPress and this site, so any suggestions would be most welcome. =)

Also, not all the fields seem to be showing up (related?). I’m thinking this is something small I need to fix but I’m stumped. Any help would be really appreciated!
]]>Hi again,
Another point we discovered. The workflow here is too restrictive, meaning that our Editors need to approve posts and cannot wait for assigned users in the system to login and approve their assignment. Is there going to be an override for this in the future, so that an Editor can just assign a writer and publish a story, without having to wait? It seems so highly restrictive in this regard.

Here is my question:
The Exec Producer wants to be able to:
1. Add Freelancer names without adding them to the system as a user. For example, we may have a number of freelancers who, for one reason or another, do not have a user account. We want to be able to add them individually as a post author, but not register them.
2. Override the “Accept” feature. There may be times when we can’t wait for a user to “accept” a story. For example, what if a user is on a flight and cannot accept an assignment? The editor wants to be able to override that. Is there any way to do that?
Let me know.
Thanks.

]]>Hey!
I have problems registering users in a multi-site WordPress setup.
I have three blogs in one WP multi site installation, my local blog with VAD is not the main blog. Every time a user tries to register (e.g. via the submit topic page), he is redirected to the register-page of the main blog. He can register there and is then able to submit something on the local blog, but it′s very confusing and not nice.
You can tell a multi-site WordPress which blog should be the default blog users can register to. But even then they are directed to the register page of the main blog.
I think, this is rather a wordpress issue then a VAD issue. But I thought I let you know ??
Thanks for the great work.

]]>Hi there. I run a hyperlocal site in Llandaff, Cardiff, Wales called, unsurprisingly, Llandaff News: https://www.llandaffnews.com/. I’m keen to give the Assignment Desk plugin a try and have activated the plugin, as well as those recommended to work with the plugin.
The site doesn’t have an external user-facing function to register, as does the Local East Village. Obviously, with the pitch form, it seems extremely useful to have the pitch author able to create a username and password. In fact, I’ve found that the form won’t function without this.
Can anyone recommend a plugin that will allow my site users to register and work in tandem with Assignment Desk?
Thank you!

Hello!
I’m very excited to use the Assignment desk plugin and I love the work you’re doing. Thanks again for this!
I am currently using the Arras theme v1.5.0.1 and when I submit a pitch from the form, that submitted pitch then appears over all blog post. The permalinks are not changed by the content becomes the pitch with a vote button.
I’m not sure if it does this because I’m logged in while I’m pitching stories, but I can’t seem to figure out the solution.
I’ll submit a pitch so you can see what’s happening. I hope this makes sense. Thanks for the help!

Running WP in multi-site mode on my laptop’s WAMP server. (https://localhost.localdomain/)
When I activate Assignment Desk, this error starts popping up on any URL:
Fatal error: Call to a member function add_rewrite_tag() on a non-object in C:\wamp\www\wp-includes\taxonomy.php on line 289
Tried installing older versions, but got the same result. I didn’t get this error when I installed the very first “0.1” release, though.
Other plugins have the same problem; seems to be a WP 3.0 compatibility issue?
