Akeeba is a renownded word for CMS backup software. I have used Akeeba Backup for all my Joomla! sites for years, and the WP solution works exactly the same: Your backups at your fingertips, easy to use and extremely reliable.

Works fine locally. But if you ever plan to move your site from localhost or one domain to another this thing is just horrid.

With akeeba the transfer of whole websites to another server is done in few minutes. I use “Akeeba Backup Pro” on Joomla since it first was release as Joomla Pack (in 2007…?).
After quitting with Joomla i’m very glad to find my favorite backup-tool on wordpress too. Akeeba backup works like a charm without any complications on several shared-webhosting-provider like host europe, domainfactory and 1&1.
I also recommend Akeeba Admin Tools for Joomla … maybe one day for wordpress… ??

You think you ahve your wordpress site safely backed up , only to find out its going to take hours and hours , to achieve use a backup when you need it. They dont provide a free easy recovery method…the recovery method cost 40 gbp

Before i use Joomla, now i use Worldpress and the only one plugin i miss from Joomla it’s this one Akeeba backup.
The easyest way to backup and restore all your website (site and db) in a small (jpa) file easy to upload in your computer.

I have seven sites that need to be maintained constantly backed up since the owners are really not technical guys. There is always a risk whenever they go in and start making changes but thankfully Akeeba takes care of that problem.

Easy to setup and use , it sure is one of the more robust and well tested plugin available out there. In fact I have added it to my list of “must-have” for any WordPress site. To top off the good product is nice responsive support team who are ever helpful with their answers.

I’ll update this after testing the plugin but 5 out of 5 for responsiveness! I have a large multi-site (32GB) and had numerous pre-sales questions. All were answered quickly and effectively without any sales pitch for the paid version.

Update: This software is incredibly easy to setup and use. It’s the ultimate in point and click code. It did a full backup of my site in about four hours using a single core and minimum memory with no noticeable effect on site load speeds. (The site gets between 35k and 50k pageviews daily).

I’ve now purchased the premium version and will update this review after doing a migration/clone.

Second update: The more I test, the better it gets. I’m using the pro version to backup directly to OneDrive and it is working flawlessly. The product and the support are as good as you’ll ever find!

Been using akeeba in Joomla for years. There is nothing better. When I heard it was available for WordPress I was ecstatic. After tooling with it for over two hours and running into database restoration issues, I finally went back to my trusted interconnect Search and Replace, which worked immediately. Fix the database restoration difficulties with Kickstart and you have a real winner.

I’ve been using Akeeba for years with Joomla. I recently started to migrate all my sites to WordPress and was thrilled to be able to continue to use Akeeba.

Akeeba make backups simple… just a couple clicks and you can sit back and watch as all the files and database tables are backed up to a single file.

Restoration is where Akeeba really shines. The kickstart script makes it quick and easy, even when moving to a new host.

I’ve been using Akeeba for years (when I was using Joomla instead of WordPress). I’ve been looking forward to them making the move to WordPress and now they’re here I hope everyone experiences this excellent plugin.

From the many years that I’ve been using Akeeba products I know just how knowledgeable and experienced the author is. He produces excellent products etc.

Even though website transfers should be simple, they usually chuck up something that makes it harder that it needs to be. With this plugin it was simple to take a backup and then restore it to the new server using Akeeba Kickstart.

I’ll be purchasing the paid version so that I can backup off site to Amazon. I don’t often rate plugins and I don’t usually give so much praise, but this guy is the business.

I have been using Akeeba Backup for all my joomla websites.
I can’t express how glad I am to be able to use this wonderful tool on WordPress.

I’ve used Akeeba Backup on so many of my Joomla sites and have been a great fan of them due to the simple and flawless tool they design.

I was very worried about Backup / Restore while I was starting with WordPress, but when I found Akeeba here, it pulled me back on the cushions to relax as I know the power and beauty of Akeeba.

I highly recommend this tool due to the ease of use and great functionality. I also recommend this one to be part of Core WordPress which will certainly make life easy.

I’ve been using Akeeba Backup for Joomla for years. It is the very first extension I install with a new Joomla sites and now I can say the same thing for my WordPress clients! The backup solutions for WordPress weren’t so good. They all did incomplete backups (database only or no core files) or had convoluted and annoying subscription models.

The WP version of Akeeba is almost identical to the Joomla version. It allows you to easily run a complete backup of your site including all files and databases (local and remote). You can also easily exclude directories or files. The backup file can then be quickly and easily restored with Akeeba Kickstart (a single php file that expands the backup archive and runs an installer). It even re-serializes the database if you move it to a new domain! This makes it really useful for moving a site between your local development environment and a live server or vice versa. You can do manual or set up automated backups as well.

After a hacking incident, I restored the entire site from the previous day’s backup in 3 MINUTES! 1) Move all old files to another directory. 2) Move Akeeba Backup archive and kickstart.php to root. 3) Run Kickstart. 4) Receive accolades from impressed client!

I couldn’t be happier that Akeeba Backup is now available for WordPress!

I used this extension with Joomla. Ever since I switched over to WordPress I have searched high and low for a product like this. Well finally its out for WordPress. This back up takes care of everything in one go. Your files and data base are backed up into one zip file and you can then unzip it onto any server and a simple installation guide takes care of the rest. You can literally backup a website and move it to a new server or domain name, showing publicly within 15 minutes.

Installed Akeeba Backup CORE for WP V1.0.b4 and it did not work for me.

Activated it, clicked on Akeeba Backup in the sidebar per installation instructions.

A blank page is displayed and there is no configuration button to start the backup process.

Logged into my WP dashboard on IE 11 and FF 29.0.1 just in case it was a browser issue, still did not work.

Finally! This is by far the best backup/restore tool for WordPress of all I’ve tried so far. I started to use Akeeba backup long time ago, when I was a Joomla newbie and had to solve the tricky (for beginners) problem how to move my new website from my local PC to a live server. Accustomed to the use of this reliable and easy-to-use tool, I always wondered why there was no WordPress Plugin with similar qualities. I’m glad that Nicholas now filled this gap. At the time of writing this comment, I just have used the “Akeeba for WordPress” plugin version 1.0.b4 along with the latest “Akeeba Kickstart” extraction tool to backup a live 1GB WordPress website and to move/install that backup on my local PC. It did work on the first attempt without any hiccups.
