Hi
The plugin works great.
One question, once the user selects that he is 21 years old, can we set the URL to the root instead of “?age-verified=c1f3d5a7be”
I was doing some testing with age verified posts today and I noticed that successful validation is adding a query string of “?age-verified=[value]” to the post URL. It doesn’t seem to do this in all browsers — it happened in Firefox, but not in Opera.
I’m wondering what the query value is. It looks like a hash of some kind. It doesn’t appear to vary with the (arbitrary) birth date I enter, but I’m concerned about the possibility of exposing the user’s age or birth date in the URL string, even if it’s hashed.

Hey, I am having an issue where the caching system(Varnish) used by my hosting provider is set up to only allow cookies that use a certain naming convention to be accepted. I am aware that I can manually edit the name of the cookie in the plugin code, but that will break updates and nobody wants to do that. Is it possible to set a filter on the cookie name or create a setting for the plugin that would allow us to change the name of the cookie?
Thanks for all the great work!
Hi !
First, thank you for this really cool plugin.
I just don’t know how to change te name of the cookie. Currently it’s set on “age-verified” and I need to change it.
Please can someone explain me how to change the cookie name without break the plugin ? ??
Thank you a lottttt !
Heads up to anybody using WooCommerce’s native filtering (or anything that adds a query parameter like /?foo=bar to the URL), this plugin might break your filter. For example…
When a user visits our homepage and verifies their age, the page reloads and the URL becomes ourstore.com?age-verified=123456
On our shop page, we use a URL like ourstore.com/shop/?filter_color=red to show “red” term products in the “color” attribute.
When somebody visits that filter page as their first visit, after they verify age the URL becomes ourstore.com/shop/?filter_color=red?age-verified=e63e7c08bd which breaks the filter because you can’t have multiple question marks. Additional query parameters should be added with an ampersand (&), like /?filter_color=red&age-verified=123456
Plugin hasn’t been updated in over a year, but in case you still check these boards, Chase, we’d appreciate a fix! I’ll have to disable and look for something else in the meantime, but hanks for all your work on this.
Every time I click on a tab it asks if I’m 18 again. How can I make it so it only shows once?
Hi – the plugin has worked great for my client for a year. However he now needs two different pages to have two different ages. The plugin seems to be set up nicely to do this using [aoage] in messaging, but then on my individual page, if I set the age gate value to 21, that page still pops up displaying my minimum age value that I set on the global settings page (which is a required value).
In other words, my global value of 18 is the only age I can get to pop, even on pages set to 21. What am I doing wrong?
I just disabled all plugins except yours and went to 2015 theme and the same problem is happening.
Please advise
Thank you

I am trying to use W3 Total Cache to help speed up this site: https://springfielddistillery.com/site. This is a distillery in the US so there has to be an age verification page that pops up whenever a user visits for the first time, no matter what page so the user can verify they are over 21 before looking at the site. I am using the Age Verify plugin to do that.
On the W3 Total Cache plugin, as soon as I enable Page Cache and Browser Cache a few issues happen with the age verification page and it’s not super consistent. One day the age page didn’t pop up at all. Sometimes the age page pops up just fine, other times I can navigate to another page and it won’t pop up at all. I always clear my browser history and test it on multiple browsers.
I’m wondering if you can tell me what I should exclude from the caching plugin to ensure Age Verify works as it should?
Hi, is it possible at all to add a country dropdown to this?
I need an age gate for an alcohol site, so need the user to be able to select the country they are in too.
Thanks
Great plugin!
Just a small recommendation to add
#av-overlay {
box-sizing: border-box;
}
to the default styles in order to create a better mobile experience and allow the padding to factor in to the width. Otherwise, you’ll see overlaps.
Good product, thank you for your work on this.
Suggestions:
1. Text on the form submit button. Currently is “Enter Site” which is fine for site-wide application but awkward when challenge is only set up on a few pages. In this case, “View Page” seems more appropriate. Consider offering user the option to set their own button text or conditionally set the text based on your Entire Site or Specific Content radio button.
2. A back button or return to home page. If you do not wish to proceed, then the modal dialog leaves you hanging. Not friendly for the non-technical!
Thanks for your consideration.

Each member runs their own store as an example: https://SlowRyde.PremiumeLiquids.com. The Age Verify plugin works good and verifies age and maintains a Cookie on FireFox only, allowing all pages to be viewed without further visitor interaction for the set cookie session time period.
Unfortunately on Chrome and Internet Explorer the cookie is not remembered and continues to ask for age verification on every page visited. Mobile Chrome also behaves the same way and fails to maintain cookie session.
We have heard others getting Age Verify to work on WordPress Multisite, but we haven’t been so lucky. Please anyone inform us as to what settings on Multisite or in the plugin code that may be causing this to fail or inform us of another Age Verification plugin that will work on WordPress Multisite.

Having issues with age gate being covered by the site header?
I am using the Avada theme any help is appreciated.
Hi folks,
like a lot of you, I had a problem with the translation of the months. Here is the solution :
Open this two files :
/plugins/age-verify/functions.php
/plugins/age-verify/includes/functions.php
In both of them, replace
$form .= '
';
foreach ( range( 1, 12 ) as $month ) :
$month_name = date( 'F', mktime( 0, 0, 0, $month, 1 ) );
$form .= '' . $month_name . '';
endforeach;
By
foreach ( range( 1, 12 ) as $month ) :
setlocale(LC_TIME, 'fr_FR');
$month_name = ucfirst( utf8_encode( strftime( '%B', mktime( 0, 0, 0, $month, 1 ) ) ) );
$form .= '' . $month_name . '';
endforeach;
I hope it was helpful for you ??
Note : if this solution doesn’t work for you, I will not be able to help you.

Hello,
please attach that to the future version of your plugin to keep it more flexible:
$url_connector = (empty($_GET) ? '?' : '&');
wp_redirect( esc_url_raw( $redirect_url ) . $url_connector .'age-verified=' . wp_create_nonce( 'age-verified' ) );
in file class-age-verify.php on line 359.
Without that I get two question marks in url address.
Cheers!
Howdy,
Here’s the weird thing. I have two identical servers, running two identical WordPress setups, only one the Age Verify works, and the other it’s intermittent, often not popping up until the second or third page visited.
Here’s the sites (NSFW):
https://store.dev.kink.com – Working great
https://store.kink.com – Working intermittently
On tablet view, we can’t get past the challenge screen at all.
On desktop, the challenge pop up sometimes works, but sometimes I need to go to several pages for it to come up. I’ve seen it also break pages in strange ways, like not show up but add about 150px of padding to the homepage, or hide the #page area but not the footer on the Create Account page. It’s very odd.
Can you shed any light on why, or offer a potential solution?
Thank you in advance. I love this plugin and don’t want to switch unless I have to!
