I dont know what people are crying about? It works excellent. I just installed and activated the plugin, went to the menu and instead of my regular admin-nick I just changed to a new nick and pressed update. Voila.. Done in 10 sec…

Did not work for me: “The new one cannot be stored due to non existing mysql_real_escape_string function”. I see others with this error in the Support section, from as long as six months ago, with no response.

Thanks for the plugin. I really wanted it to work though.
While logged in as super admin, clicking “Settings” beside the plugin name in the Plugins menu, it gives me this:
You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.

It is one of those plugins that just works and then sits quietly until you need it again.

Finally – after hours of looking for ways to change the accidental default admin name… this worked on the first shot! (I did create a second admin account just in case something went crazy).
I was not able to delete the first one – since it was the root / startup admin user (which tied my primary email up). this plugin fixed that!
great work!

Thanks for this plugin!
In multisites with more than one network you have to activate it in all networks and change the admin logins.

Saves me a trip into PHPmyAdmin!
Remember you should deactivate or delete this plugin when done, don’t leave it running on a live site! Just in case!

renamed user name simply and quickly

Work as claim but not for network enabled. For sites, I need to hack into the submit button so the action goes to the site, not the main wp site.

I was getting a flood of lockout messages today from Theme My Login. Apparently, some bots have been hitting me pretty hard, and I had short-sightedly trimmed the lockout period to an hour. Sure enough, almost every hour on the hour, I was getting lockout messages.
I installed Admin Renamer Extended after a quick search and comparison with the other similar offerings, and couldn’t be more pleased. All of my posts retained my public name, admin is gone forever, and the new username, well…it will be rather hard to guess.
Excellent job, and thanks, Ramon!

I used this plugin to avoid brute force attempts to login to my admin user. The plugin is very easy to use and in a few clicks you’re done. I’d advice to backup your blog before installation of this plugin, just in case you lock yourself out.

As soon as I activated this plugin, the style in my WordPress admin area looked weird. Everything worked, but the style was clearly broken. The plugin let me change the username for the “admin” user. When I deactivated the plugin, the admin area style returned to normal.
I suspect the problem is caused by this plugin being quite outdated.
