Does a great job. If you have a lot of images (after an import from another platform), it may break in the middle. Just go back and click Process again and again until it’s done. Alternatively, increase max_execution_time.
Note – the option to batch process images is in Settings – Linked IMGs. It wasn’t obvious to me without reading the source code.

The exact instructions are:
– Create a new post, and add a link to a test image (such as one on your Flickr account).
– Now click the “Save Draft” button.
– If your editor is in HTML mode, you will see that the SRC attribute has changed.
– If not, you can click on the Add Image icon and you will see a new image has been added to the Gallery for this post.
But when I pasted the link, it just laid there and did nothing. No picture appeared, and no image was added to the gallery.
So if it is 2015 or later, you should probably look for another plugin.

externimg_backcatalog() function), and you should see a line like:
$pp = get_posts( array( ‘numberposts’=>-1 ) );
with
$pp = get_posts( array( ‘post_type’ => array(‘post’, ‘page’), ‘numberposts’=>-1 ) );

]]>This plugin works great at long as you are on the post edit screen in wp-admin. If you are adding posts any other way ( wp-cron, iPhone app, etc ) you will get a fatal error that seems only to resolve by removing the plugin directory. It is a rather simple fix however. See my forum posts at
