Hi! I read from the plugin page that there are localizations for the plugin. Is there a way to translate this in Finnish with Polylang or other type of string translation?
We are building a multi-language website for local disability history month, and we would need the tooltip text in Finnish on the Finnish side of the page, and in English on the English side of the site.
Hello,
I understand why my social icons show the opens in new window icon, but I’m wondering if anyone knows a way to get my social icons to open in the same tab/window. I don’t have the box checked on the simple social icons plugin to open in a new window, but they do open in a new tab and I don’t see a way to change that.
Thanks for your help!
Annie
Hi,
just figured out that your plugin uses TTF font: wp-content/plugins/accessibility-new-window-warnin…ss/fonts/anww.ttf
As accessibility is a part from sustainability: Really ? ??
It would be nice, if you could offer the font via woff2.
It would be the optimum to inherit the font out of the theme default settings.
Thy and best,
Martin
I’d like to have the option to disable the tool tip. How can I do this please? Also the be able to edit the tooltip text “open in new tab”. Many thanks.
A site was being tested by a user with very poor vision so using a lot of font size increase and magnification. One issue was that the popup was not visible or obscured some of the link words (the link was about 10 words long and ran into multiple lines).
This also occurs when the link is that the bottom of a screen. If a link is at the bottom of what is currently visible, the popup is below and offscreen.
It was also reported that since the popup is attached to the mouse movement, users with physical issues such as shaking hands would see a constantly moving message and not be able to read it easily.
The request from the testers was that the popup alert be positioned above the element, and attached to the “top left” corner of the element. So that it would not move on mouse movement, and also so it would be visible for content lower on the screen.
I’m sure there is some room for debate about being attached to “top” of element vs “bottom” of element might be better. But the testers felt that attaching to top would be better as they are more likely to be on a link at the bottom of the screen than at the top.
Very much appreciate the plugin and keep up the good work Equalize Digital!
Hi All,
I love this plugin! It’s so perfect due to so many people wanting external links to open in a new tab and not take people away from the site.
We have a post grid and filter it using FacetWP. The external link icon and open in new window text appears fine in the unfiltered grid, but when the grid is filtered, it seems to disable the functionality of your plugin.
I know you all have contacts with FacetWP. Wondering how we can solve this? Let me know how I can help.

Hi,
is it possible to change the text “opens a new window” to a different one in a different language (German) ?
Best,
Martin
I’m getting duplicate displays of the icon and the aria label – screen reader sees: opens a new window; opens a new window;
Has anyone else had this issue?
I used CSS to remove the open window icon, which left the title tag in place, but it still left the space after the hyperlink. I would imagine this was for the icon. Without the icon the blue underline continued until it hit the next word, creating new words. It’s easy enough to figure out, but it makes it look like I don’t know how to spell. Is there a way to remove that space?
Hi there, how can we change the position of the tooltip to position itself at the top, rather than the bottom right once you hover over a link? Does anyone have some sample CSS which can be used to adjust the position? Thank you

I have a dark theme website and the tooltip is showing really light grey text on a white background. I tried my best to find out how to target the right thing and create some CSS to fix it, but I’m not having any luck.
Is there a way we can style what the tooltip looks like?

First of all, thank you for this great, free plugin! I am using this on a development site, and I have a link in my main menu that opens in a new window. When I hover over the the link, the “opens a new window” tooltip is hidden underneath the menu container. I cannot for the life of me find the CSS selector for the tooltip so I can adjust the z-index. Is that possible to do with CSS?
We are using Open External Links in a New Window plugin and it inserts window.open to all non-domain links. Any way to make your plugin compatible with this one? There is no target=blank in this case.
