I know that this plugin is very old and probably abandoned… but figured I’d flag an issue that came up for me.
I got this automated email today:

Should I just give up on the plugin, or… ??
]]>Hello! Thanks for this plugin!
I would like to have a Complete Lockdown for my site but I would like users to register WITHOUT being approved (I am using another restriction for my site, a set of specific IP addresses).
How do I do that? Please, let me out.
Thank you!
Users cannot login wordpress after I approved them in “moderate user”.
Error message: “The administrator of this site must approve the account before you can login …”
The user gets a notification message that his account has been approve as and his role is “subscriber” in ALL user list.
What could the be problem? I am using absolute privacy for 6 months but since yesterday I have this administration problem.
Absolute Privacy 2.1
WordPress 4.4.4
Thank you! This plugin is exactly what I was looking for!
New users are receiving the error message “ERROR: Please enter a password in both password boxes.” even when the Repeat Password field is populated. Any suggestions?
]]>I couldn’t get the plugin to really work, all it does is put “Private:” before all page headers I wanted protected, but still anyone can read them. However I found another way to temporarily hide my pages, and now I would like to get rid of the “Private:” and I can’t seem to find how. Uninstalling the plugin does NOT help and I’m beginning to worry.
]]>I have my privacy settings so that only titles show up in RSS feeds… but if I use WP’s native video uploader and embed a video in my private post, the video shows up in the RSS feed.
I realize this plugin hasn’t been updated in a while, but this is a pretty significant bug.
]]>I have seen these questions (or similar) posted several times on here and each one is marked resolved with no answer…so I thought I would try my luck.
When a person logs-in, they are currently being returned to the home page of the web site.
Is there a way to redirect the logged in user to another page? If so, how?
Also, I am getting this message in error:
Notice: Your settings do not currently allow users to register themselves. If you want to allow the Absolute Privacy plugin to handle user moderation, please check anyone can register on the general settings page.
It is indeed checked.
By the way, I don’t know how and where I got the avatar, but it is stunning.
Thank you.
]]>I’m trying to set this up but coming up with a couple of problems in testing.
The main problem is that when I register people via the backend, once approved, they aren’t sent their password. The welcome email they receive says Password:(hidden.) (I’ve tried using Show Password but it still doesn’t work.) So they’re sent the link to the login screen rather than to a Reset your Password screen. They have to use the Forgotten password link. Confusing when they’ve never had a password in the first place.
Other problems are that promoting someone from unapproved to subscriber can’t be done via the “All users” screen and editing them. Although it approves them, they aren’t sent an email to tell them they’ve now been approved. So I have to remember to add user in that window and then go straight to the Moderate users window to approve them, so they will get the email.
And even though I’ve tried to add as subscriber, they’re only registered as waiting for approval so they get the Waiting email. Which is confusing.
BTW, I’ve left “anyone can register” unticked as the plan at the moment is to add users manually via backend. So I don’t have to go through people applying to register, thinking that will get them on a mailing list. Because I then have to email them to redirect them to the mailing list form.
Are all these things just part and parcel of how this plugin works, or is it meant to be working more smoothly?
Thanks.
Clare
Hi,
I have still this error message with the widget for the subscription letter of MailPoet only when Absolute Privacy is actived :
Oops! There is a problem with this form:
textStatus:parsererror
errorThrown:SyntaxError: syntax error
responseText:
I haven’t this error when I logged with admin
It seems not possible to non-admin to run ajax.
Do you know where the problem come from ?
Thanks
Fred
]]>The plugin has installed successfully and appears to be working, however instead of getting the straight forward registration screen displayed in the screenshots on the plugin info page, I’m just getting the regular wordpress username/password screen (with the tiny grey “register” underneath).
I think this may have something to do with the fact that when I go to the plug in settings it says I still haven’t activated the “anyone can register” option, when in fact I have…
I would really like the simple clean cut version of the registration option that the plugin description shows.
Please help? Otherwise I think this is going to be more complicated than my friends/family really want to put up with.
Thanks!

]]>I have set up a buddypress instance to work sort of like a Sharepoint closed intranet.
I use to have no problem configuring Absolute Privacy to go into complete lockdown to achieve this, and then just allow my pages for registration and activation for new users to register themselves through private invites of current users.
The registration page is working fine, however the activation page keeps forwarding to the login page. The activation page is a unique URL however, that includes the key string for activation. Could this be causing the issue? Is there a way around this? The page should still be using the same page ID, so I am not sure.
Is there a place in the database where the page id’s for allow_page are kept so I can check to see if it is saving correctly?
Any guidance is appreciated. Thanks!
Kyle
]]>the plugin does absolutely nothing. I wanted to use it for approving new users, but after registration, I still get “no users are waiting moderation” in the backend, and the new user has immediate access.
When I check the settings, I see the following notice, although the mentioned checkbox is checked:
]]>Your settings do not currently allow users to register themselves. If you want to allow the Absolute Privacy plugin to handle user moderation, please check anyone can register on the general settings page.
I have users registering and they only receive the first email saying they registered but they never get the approval email. Is there a fix to this bug?
]]>Hello. Thank you for the plugin. It is very powerful and easy to use.
I was wondering if there was some sort of log file associated with the plugin? I am trying to determine exactly when (date, time) a new user was approved via Absolute Privacy.
Thanks in advance.
]]>Hi,
I’ve installed the plugin and set the settings to Member Area. Now users register and receive an e-mail they’re registration is being approved.
The admin receives an e-mail, which directly goes to the approval screen where the unapproved users are shown. Here you can select them and hit the ‘Approve selected users’ button.
When that’s done, they receive their approval e-mail BUT they’re still marked as Unapproved user – and get that error as well after trying to log in.
]]>Hi all
I am using the “Absolute Privacy” plugin with the “Complete Lockdown” option set.
If I Block Admin access, the users cannot access the control panel – but also not their personal profile page.
If I don’t Block Admin access, they can see both the control panel and their personal profile page.
I want them to see their own personal profile page but not the control panel.
Any suggestions? With or without Absolute Privacy?
]]>Hi, Love the plugin, it is great, thank you.
I was wondering if were possible to add a few extra registration form boxes such as phone number and website etc?
At present, the subscriber could practically be anyone, but with website and phone number, they can be followed up on in the case of a site needing very good vetting control over subscriber.
Many thanks,
Andrew
]]>In the options of the plugin, it’s possible to define “allowed pages” with their ID : these pages are accessible to non-logged in users.
Is-it possible to define a category : all posts of this category will be accessible to non-logged in users ?
All thanks
Fred
I like the Plugin Absolute Privacy very much. However I have one problem:
New Users get after registration a mail informing them, that their approval is under consideration. So far, everything is OK.
After I have approved the new users, however they do not get the mail informing them that their account is now open. That is obviously wrong.
What am i doing wrong?
]]>Hi, I’ve installed the plugin, and I’m experiencing behavior much like several of the other forum posters. I’m getting the error that user registrations is not turned on in the General settings page (it is) and anyone can access the whole site without being asked to register.
This is pretty much the first thing I’ve installed–not much else to interfere with the plugin behavior. Any suggestions on what to try? See dogblog.mitchellzone.org, thanks.

]]>I have just updated wordpress (I use 3.9.1–cs_CZ version) and plugins, which I have not done in quite a long time.
But with the new version I have come across a problem which I seem not to be able to solve.
If Absolute privacy plugin is activated and I want to visit the pages I only get a blank page. I’m only able to see the admin site, but no content of the pages.
I have tried to change all methods (off, Complete lockdown, Members area) but nothing seems to help. Maybe there is simple solution to this but I have not been able to help myself so far.
Heya! Been using Absolute Privacy for 5 years, and am very happy with it.
However, I just got a little shock, noticing that while you give me great control over the post RSS feed, my comments RSS feed is discoverable.
I have my blog’s RSS set to allow ONLY post headlines, which feels safe to me… but know that excerpts of my readers private comments are readable via RSS makes me uncomfortable.
Is there a way to disable this using the plugin? I’m not seeing anything on the options page, other than disabling RSS completely (which I don’t want to do because I like the titles-only option).
]]>Hello,
After entering credentials I would to send my uses to the Home Page. Is this possible?
]]>I have installed the plugin on my site and have set it to complete lockdown but the site is still accessible when not logged in.
Membership “anyone can register” is checked in the general settings as well.
Am I missing something?
Thanks,
I created a page that I want displayed while I construct the site. I have the plugin in set to “complete lockdown” and inserted the page id in “allowed pages” box.
Why is it not displaying this page?
]]>When I enable the plugin I get an error message:
” Too many redirects occurred trying to open [website URL]
This might occur if you open a page that is redirected to open another page which then is redirected to open the original page. “
Can anyone help???
]]>Can i able to create a user account & let them just create & modify posts to a specific category. Abstracting the rest of the posts & features in their dashboard
]]>Contrary to the info proffered in the detail in the description of the “Absolute Privacy 2.1” plug-in, the blog to which it is linked has no information about the plug-in. Like 404!, John. (A reference to your contact us page.)
Is the level of security/secureness afforded a WP blog using Absolute Privacy 2.1 enhanced at all? Or, does the plug-in merely obscure the log-in page to “outsiders”?
That, of course, can be done by renaming “/wp-login” to a 256, or less, random character string, sans plug-in.
I want to create a password protected wp site (or area) that will have about 100 members BUT I don’t want people to be able to share their passwords with friends etc. So that if user ‘A’ is logged in and someone tries to login with their credentials either user ‘A’ is bumped out or the person trying to login is denied access. Does your plugin do this? Or does anyone have any ideas on the matter?
cheers!
