The functionality this plugin offers is incredible. More useful than any of the paid plugins I’ve purchased. Please ensure you keep updating this – I think you can have a real powerhouse here, along the lines of Yoast etc.

hello thank you for your plugin but I have a problem: I got blank pages when I activate your plugin for all 404 error pages. tried with automatic redirection and suggested posts.

After spending a considerate amount adding old URL’s they just disappeared for no reason.
Also, the plugin does not capture any 404 URL’s.

This plugin is not reliable at all. Many times I have set 404 redirects in this plugin only to come back a few days later and find all redirects gone.

Love this plugin, its simple and have everything i need, thank you.
Maybe function to redirect all to specific page eg:home would would be a bonus, also small wp-admin dashboard widget would be grate. Just an idea.
Grate plugin!
Thank you

Was broken after 1.4.2, but 1.4.3 fixed it.
Thank you for the great support, this is definitely the best 404 Plugin!
(For some reason this site shows my rating as 2 stars, it should be 5 stars…)

The plugin author has never demonstrated much interest in maintaining the plugin but some kind soul seems to have taken it upon themselves to fork it to fix a security issue: https://github.com/GDKeller/404-redirected.
I used 404 Redirected with much success for several years, several years ago, but had recently uninstalled it. I am trying it on a staging site; when I activated it, there was a warning banner, “The plugin generated 693 characters of unexpected output during activation. If you notice “headers already sent” messages, problems with syndication feeds or other issues, try deactivating or removing this plugin.” but otherwise no noticeable ill effects and the plugin seems to do what it has been designed to do. Obviously, your mileage may vary. Fingers x’d

Not been updated for 2 years.
Had a problem with it creating error messages on the server which were dealt with in this post.

Otherwise, works alright.

We were struggling with endpoints, which were brought in to WooCommerce 2.0 and above. Basically, whenever the site tried to go to an end point such as my-account/edit-address, the page would just be re-directed to the my-account page.
We had the 404 redirected plugin installed and it was this plugin causing the issue. So, we de-activated the 404 redirected plugin and hey presto, endpoints in Woocommerce were working again.

at first i was looking for a wildcard option. After starting to use this i realize this is a much better approach. have not tried the auto because we do not have corresponding pages for 99% of the pages that were removed.

It just needs a little user-experience tweaking in my opinion to make it an excellent plugin, but I install this on nearly every site of mine, especially ones that I’ve migrated from other platforms and I’m definitely satisfied with the results.
Note: I always turn off that ‘automated redirect’ junk because it never produced good results for me.

I used to like this plug-in a lot. Then it stopped working properly. The referrer functionality has a bug in it that causes that piece of data to stop being visible when a 404 error occurs. This renders the plugin difficult to use, and makes it impossible to tell how to nip problems with bad URL’s in the bud.
Upon contacting the developer for advice, I was informed that the plugin is no longer supported, and there are no plans to do so.

This pluging strips the gclid tagging that adwords adds to the url. This results in your Adword activity not being properly tracked in Analytics.

The plugin does what it is supposed to do quite well, it redirects anything that is not a valid permalink url to a valid permalink url, however this has unexpected consequences for many important wordpress features.
Anything that uses endpoints or uses post data (woocommerce checkout, forgoten passwords, google analytics) will be redirected to a valid url that strips the post data and endpoint information.
Took a very long time to figure out that it was this plugin that was causing this problem and unfortunately as of the time of writing there is no clear warning that the plugin will have this effect.
This would be manageable if the settings page supported more dynamic ways of redirecting.
Works well for very simple static sites that only require redirects for misspelled urls.

This is a great plugin. Thank you

While I don’t pretend to understand most of it, I do know this much:
-It logs 404 errors.
-It makes it easy for me to create redirects.
-It doesn’t appear to have broken anything.
-It rocks!
I’m bummed that it appears to no longer be supported. From what I’ve read the author is talented and, as a natural consequence, very busy. I’m sure this plugin is low on his list of priorities.
Nevertheless, I wouldn’t think twice about donating more than a little to get an update. Please consider updating it Robert! Then give me a way to donate and I most certainly will.

I had to migrate my site using cache data and was not able to retain my original link structure. Once things went live again folks going to my most popular post would get a 404 and leave the site. This plugin made it very easy to redirect folks to where they wanted to go. If I had only found this before I tried to rewrite the PHP I would have saved a weekend of headache.

Simple and useful. It does what its made for easily

Great plugin, seems to be working great!!
I’m hoping the developer reads this and keeps it updated whenever needed!
Great plugins like this should be kept going! ??

Default settings are poor and seems unmaintained. No bulk addition.

No bueno. All pages are messed up now.

Great plugin, but the only problem is that it is not fully multilingual. It gives the option to direct to multilingual versions of pages, but not multilingual versions of categories and tags. Anyway, it’s still great!

UPDATE:
My first review and rating were premature. Though I do not know what caused the error, I was able to resolve the problem in my .htaccess file.
Uninstalling the plugin also seems to create problems, so I’m keeping it installed for now.
I’m uneasy about recommending this, as it requires a pretty high level of knowledge. I’m just geeky enough to be dangerous. ??
The plugin does seem to be doing what it is supposed to do.

ORIGINAL REVIEW:
Everything seemed to be working fine, but I noticed a drop in site traffic. Only by serendipity did I discover that anyone not using “www” in the URL received this error message:
Warning: Division by zero in /home/xxxxxxxx/public_html/blog/wp-content/plugins/404-redirected/includes/functions.php on line 208
Not really interested in tracking down bugs on a plugin. Either it works, or it doesn’t. This one does not.

This is the first plug in I have been able to get working. Thankyou so so much. I am incredibly happy about this plug in.

this is a great plugin..for automatic url redirects
however setting the manual redirects takes time.
it lacks only one thing.. sorting the posts list in alphabetical order.. in Redirect to: dropdown..
that will help speed manual redirect setting.
(we have more than 6000 pages)
thanks for the plugin

Good plugin, do what is made for, lot of options…

great plugin, does exactly what it says it does very easily.

Great plugin. Really outshines with all the options and ability to detect 404 errors!
]]>Rating: 5 stars
After trying other 301 redirect plugins and being unsatisfied, I found this one, and let me tell you, it does exactly what it says it does. With my the other plugins I tried, I still got 404 messages, even though it looked like I set up everything right. Now my old links are redirecting properly. Also, the 404 ‘catcher’ is great and really does work. It logs what 404s were generated by old links to your site, and what the requested URL was so you can easily match them up to an updated page.
